Beautiful grounds, but expect bugs in your room

Jun 24th, 2019

Elbow Beach is on beautiful grounds, the rooms are relatively up to date for Bermuda standards, but because almost all of the rooms are on the ground floor level, there is a very good chance you’ll find palmetto bugs in your room. There are gaps between the bottom of each door and the floor of about 3/4 inch which allows ease of movement for these bugs. As per the laminated card you find on every desk in every hotel to, the hotel attempts to manage guests’ expectations accordingly. I found several bugs in my first room and was ultimately moved to a second room in the night. My hope is that the hotel would implement further measures to minimize these “unwelcome guests.” TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Absolutely gorgeous beach!

Jun 15th, 2019

I have mixed feelings about this hotel mainly based on the price. Overall the hotel was above average in my view but not quite what is expected from paying over $600/night. But I know that Bermuda is expensive and most of the hotels we looked at were in this price range. The biggest advantage to this hotel is the absolutely beautiful beach! We spoke with several taxi drivers and they all said Elbow Beach resort has the best beach on the island. I agree. Beautiful clear water and pink sand beach that is kept clean and in pristine condition. The hotel provides beach chairs and umbrellas with their resort fee. Also provided with the resort fee is snorkeling equipment, paddle boards, tubes, etc. That was a definite plus. As other people have said in their comments the main building is mostly vacant so the hotel lobby always seemed deserted but it is beautiful. Check in was good and the staff helping with luggage and taxis were always exceptionally helpful and polite. I found most people in Bermuda were very friendly and helpful. Our room was in one of the bungalow buildings on the property. The property (as a lot of properties in Bermuda) was very hilly. We were in the Honeysuckle building which was very near the main building and pool so it was a steep walk down to the beach and back up to our room. I wished the pool was closer to the beach because I happen to like going back and forth between the pool and beach but to do both at Elbow beach was quite a workout. The pool was big and for the most part well-kept. It did seem deserted as other people have mentioned but there was a bar by the pool. The pool needed to be cleaned at least at the low end. There was an accumulation of leaves and other debris which really shouldn't happen at a hotel this expensive. Also, my husband grabbed a pool towel and there were more holes in it then there was towel. As for our room, the view was spectacular. I think being higher up on the hill gave us that advantage. We found the grounds of the hotel overall really beautiful. The room itself was big and the bed was really comfy. The bathroom was large with a rain shower and a separate tub. The room was clean and mostly well kept though it could have used a little updating. When we first arrived there were two loungers on the patio and one was ripped and could not be used. We could the front desk and they came and replaced it immediately. We did have similar problems as others on here have stated in that we never seemed to get enough towels. We would use 3 towels and would only get two to replace them. The good part of turn-down service was that we could ask for more towels. Also, housekeeping left us with only half a roll of toilet paper one day. Then other day we found 3 extra rolls. It was very inconsistent and I'm not one that wants to be bothered with calling down to the front desk for every little thing. The restaurants were nice to have on premises though very pricey like everything else. We ate at Mickey's three times and the food was good and good size portions. The wait staff were all very pleasant and accommodating. We only had breakfast at the Lido our last day. It was very good but not huge servings for the price. Both restaurants are right by the beach with beautiful views. The third restaurant, the Sea Breeze, never seemed to be open when we were there. The one downside to our entire stay was the huge amount of seaweed and Portuguese man-o-wars that were there during our stay. We went the first week of June. I am originally from NJ and I will swim in the ocean in almost any conditions but the seaweed was so bad by our last day there that we couldn't even go in. The locals said it happens maybe once a year unfortunately for us it happened to be the week we were there. This obviously is not the hotels fault. We did see a HUMONGOUS roach (palmetto bug) our last day there which totally freaked me out! But that was the only one we ever saw. Another plus for this hotel is that there is a bus stop right out front. We took the bus a lot since taxis were so expensive. The buses were prompt and clean and the bus drivers were super helpful if you didn't know where you were going. And this resort is only about 10 minutes from Hamilton. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Wonderful views and great beach

Jun 13th, 2019

First time in Bermuda and choose this resort because I wanted an ocean view and a beach. I couldn't ask for a better view. Happened to be there with a full moon and the nighttime views of the ocean in the moon light were incredible. The room was clean and the service was great. The grounds are well kept and beautiful. The beach is clean and it wasn't too crowded. Everyone in Bermuda is friendly. I'm already planning a return trip. My only complaint is I ordered a drink on the beach and never saw the guy again. I probably didn't need the drink anyway though. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Beautiful Island Bermuda

Jun 10th, 2019

We just got back from Elbow Beach in Bermuda the main hotel was closed and in need of repair the cottages were beautiful ours was amAzing. Our first 3 days the beach had so much seaweed and man o wars you couldn’t swim. Not hotels fault Mother Nature fault. The prices at the restaurants were unbelievably expensive example a 6 oz glass of juice was $14.50 our breakfast our first morning was 98$. We had eggs and sausage. Pancakes 2 glasses of OJ and a pot of coffee. Outrageous!!! There was a pool party for anyone guests or non guests and hotel guest paying anywhere from 600$ to $1500 per night could not use pool loungers they were reserved for non hotel guest. There were a lot of unhappy hotel guests. Needless to say it will be a while before we go back to Bermuda 🇧🇲 especially to Elbow Beach! Way too expensive with very few amenities! We had a great vacation! Just a few not so great moments. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great shore excursion that gets you away from the cruise ship crowd. We purchased a resort day pass for the Elbow Beach resort it comes with lounge chairs umbrella use of outdoor showers and bathrooms. There is a restaurant and bar access with good drinks and food @ island prices but fair. Taxi scooter or electric cars are available all will cost bettween $80 to $200 dollars 4 of us went by taxi cost was $100 round trip including tip. The taxi driver are very friendly and it was like a little tour. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
