The reviews are split- but it’s disgusting

Go to check in. Man behind plastic has a very, very, VERY thick accent. He asked me a question that I didn’t understand so I didn’t answer. He asked me three more times (I guess) and then he slammed his little plastic door in my face. Four times he slammed this little door on the counter in my face. He explained that he asked me something four times and that I need to learn English- which is my first language and very clearly not his. I was yelled at and spoken to in a a manner I wouldn’t expect my mother to. I stayed calm. Cool. Collected. I kept pleading my case as if I had to. I kept saying I’m sorry sir I truly did not understand what you were saying. And then he would yell at me. And I would say sir I am very sorry and I’m being very polite here I don’t know what the problem is. Yelled at again. Until the last slam of that stupid little door. He was very nasty with me. Without the actual words he accused me of being racist because I couldn’t understand him. And I genuinely did not understand him. Why would I just stand there if I did? Why would I want to insult the seemingly only person working at my hotel? There were other people around. It was sincerely embarrassing. I am under five feet tall and he kept looking at my id and back at me. For minutes this went on. Eventually I was so disgusted with him I shouted “sir I am not a little girl do not talk to me like I am a child. I am 33 years old you address me as an adult. Without an attitude because I have DONT nothing to you and I have been nothing but nice.” Although I shouted this myself I had stayed calm until my breaking point. So I was yelled at again and accused of being racist. I want you, the reader to know that I do not consider myself racist. I’m not going to tell you about my one black friend to make it seem as such. I am straight up not racist. That’s just not the case. I don’t care what country he or anyone else is from. I don’t care if you don’t speak great English. But when you have an accent that thick- are you really that dumb that people don’t understand what you are saying sometimes? I misunderstood him with whatever this question was and three other things. Parking. He demanded twenty dollars cash and just kept putting his hand out. I find that rude in itself. He hands me a slip and tells me what to fill out which I thought I caught. Apparently I missed something when he spoke. I didn’t fill in my address because I thought he said phone number and license plate. When I handed him the slip without the address he slammed it back on the counter to give it back to me. good for one night

First off no free parking. $10 charge. The street is very sketchy, the manager told me not to go off alone. But it is one short block from the Boardwalk. The sheets and bedding was clean and comfortable, no carpeting. The bathtub and fridge were pretty nasty. No roaches or bedbugs seen. I would stay there again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Awful - Pay the Extra and Stay in a Casino Hotel

Aug 12th, 2019

I knew I was in for a terrible stay when the man running the desk asked me to wait despite being the only one in the place - while he finished his paper work. They charge $10 for parking in their crowded lot, despite the website saying "Free Parking" and that it is "Self" parking. You have to leave your keys with the desk everytime you go out. The man wanted me to park my brand new car under an air conditioner drip. He re-parked it while I was across the street, parking it so close to another vehicle that I could not open the door and fit in! When I asked him (he is thinner) to please pull the car out a bit, he got snotty and said I could have my money back and leave! I should have taken him up on that and slept in my car, which would have been better than any room at the El Dorado. The door handle had directions to "Pull Up" written on the plate in Sharpie. The room smelled like a combination of Lysol and cheap perfume. The bathroom door did not close at all and the bathroom tube light had no shade at all. The sink drained slowly. On the plus side, there seemed to be a new bed and mattress in the room - and the walls were refurbished with faux brick. But there were flies and dust and trash behind the end tables. This disgusting, unsafe, unfriendly motel is a joke and should be AVOIDED AT ALL COSTS! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Just No

Feb 4th, 2019

From check in to check out, I wish I had somewhere else to go. The man at the front desk (who is an owner and works 18 hours a day according to him, so he's always there) was incredibly rude, and ALWAYS watching you. As in, knocking on the glass to tell you to pick up trash that wasn't yours, watching you walk up the stairs to your room, making things very awkward. He wouldn't let me turn around in the parking lot without his interfering. The rooms are absolutely not what they look like in the pictures. The area is quite awful itself. I believe we had a contact high from the three "gentlemen" staying in the room below us who did not stop getting high our entire stay. Our room stank of pot like crazy. The stairs are slippery, and your car is in a lot about a block away, so you won't see it. The walk from the car to the hotel isn't horrible, unless it's nighttime and you fear because you're only trying to mind your own business. The bathrooms were not clean, with dirt, dust and an unknown red substance on the wall. Back to the guy at the desk - don't ask him questions. I asked one. (Which way is Atlantic Ave?) and had to deal with the attitude, the looks, and it frankly didn't make me happy except to walk out to get away from him. I know the pictures look halfway decent, but I promise the pics are nothing like the reality of the motel. I brought two teenagers with me and I feared our safety while I was there. I'd never bring a family there again. It's unfortunate. The beach was the best part, which the motel is very close to. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A very nasty hotel. Roaches!!! Located in the seediest part of the city qhere fiends and drug dealers hang out. Cigarette burns on the bathroom sink. Thick dust on all over the room. The rooms have a disgusting smell. The front desk guy in the morning is an jerk. He's not accommodating with information and is quick to snap...and doesn't like being bested by a woman. The best thing about this hotel is the location only. Everything else sucks. Find something else. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
