Great Vacation!

Feb 18th, 2020

My husband and I stayed at the El Dorado for the first time during President’s Day weekend. The desks clerk was courteous and knowledgeable. We had a great view of the Reno Aces ballpark. The windows in the room were huge and there was a lot of light in the room. We stayed in the king supreme room and it was a good size room. I enjoyed the small couch and the separate table next to it. The light in the bathroom was good and I appreciated the magnifying mirror located on the wall near the sink. The room was exceptionally clean and the decor was elegant. We will be returning to the El Dorado! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Wonderful Valentine’s Day Overnighter

Feb 16th, 2020

This is the second time my boyfriend and I have stayed at Eldorado and we were just as pleased as the first time. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfy, and the prices are good for what is offered. The staff is also kind, as well, which is a huge factor for me as I used to work in hotel management and customer service can make or break a stay. Kudos on the kindness, professionalism, and willingness to help! The ONLY thing I can comment on that needs A LITTLE work is attention to detail. I placed an order for a Sweetheart’s Package (roses, chocolate strawberries, and champagne) through Room Service a week prior to our stay and was told everything was taken care of. I’m glad I double checked earlier on during the day of our arrival because I was told there was no order for this, which was a bit annoying as I’d provided a credit card number and all. While this was a minor annoyance that I’d have liked to not have experienced, the woman who helped me was super sweet and made sure she took care of everything. Despite this small snafu, when we arrived, the setup was so pretty and everything I’d hoped for! My boyfriend was surprised and loved the cute heart of rose petals on the bed, the delicious sweet treats, and the excellent champagne! The care taken by whomever set up was great and made up for the mistake. I know things can get crazy around certain holidays, I’ve dealt with it first hand, that’s why it’s was a small deal, but still worth noting should management support staying on top of things. Otherwise, we had a fabulous time, we’ve decided to make this our “go to” hotel for future stays, and we will be returning as soon as we can for much needed relaxation and fun! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

El Dorado -Typical Casino Hotel Room - Not at all what the pictures look like.

Feb 10th, 2020

Just checked into the El Dorado and was expecting a room like the pictures on their ads. The room is small and has the old popcorn cieling. The hotel is not crowded. Maybe the gambling floor will be nicer. I would not stay in the room again - I'm sure there are nicer places to stay in Reno. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Sometimes I just don't get it...

Feb 9th, 2020

It doesn't happen often, but once in a while, it's like I stayed at a totally different place from all the other reviewers. I just don't get where all the 4 and 5-star reviews for the Eldorado come from. The room. Is there REALLY no Head Housekeeper that inspects rooms at a hotel/resort of this size? My room was 1031 and it had a massive brown water stain on the ceiling that looked like it had been there for years. What the heck? How can you MISS this? Ug. Gross. The heating/vent fan sounded like a diesel bus was parked in the room. A gawdawful rattling, grinding noise. Again, I ask, how the heck can housekeeping NOT notice this? Do they never actually send the head of housekeeping to inspect rooms as every other real resort does? Hint. In the big league resorts in Vegas and in all major hotels, they do it every day. Yes, the lead housekeeper for each floor or zone inspects every room, EVERY day. Continuing with the room, I went to use the wall-mount hairdryer and the whole unit fell off the wall when I picked it up. Again, how can housekeeping not... The "shower" was like standing under a garden hose end. It had no spray, it was like water dumping out of a garden hose on you. I continue with my theme of how can housekeeping not notice and report this? The beds were OK, the rest of the room was about the quality of a budget-range chain hotel. Not exactly bad, but when the hotel uses "luxury" and all those superlatives in every paragraph of their website, it's NOT what I expected. And then to be charged a "resort fee" for each night... The casino. Gawdawful. So gross I didn't play a plug nickel's worth of anything, never even got chips. The terrible way they try to cover for having no ventilation to vent the cig smoke is to spray hundreds of gallons of air freshener to try to "cover" the smoke. The result is like being trapped in an elevator with someone who has a gallon of perfume on while at the same time is chain-smoking Lucky Strikes. We literally walked onto the casino floor, looked at each other, and walked out the side door to call an Uber to go to a real casino. That was the first and last time we were on the gaming floor in 4 days. Folks, I have to be honest, I never even looked at the pool. The quality of this place had me so turned off, I had zero expectation that the pool would be nice enough to stick a single toe in. Some of you are going to ask why I didn't request a change of rooms. Folks, sometimes I just get tired of me taking my time to request a properly maintained room from a hotel that should know better and BE better. I'm in town to attend a convention, not play maintenance supervisor and head housekeeper for a resort that cannot bother to do it themselves. The title says it all. I just don't get where the people were staying that give this place 5 stars. Stay elsewhere. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
