'A great place to stay in the centre of town'

Oct 30th, 2020

A very good choice if you are looking for a place in the centre and near the Acropolis, Monastiraki and Plaka area. It's a lovely building with a garden and large lobby area. It also has a swimming pool with a view, but due to weather, we were unable to enjoy. What gives it full points is the beautiful view of the Acropolis from the rooftop restaurant on the 8th floor. This is also the breakfast room. The first room we had was relatively small for such a hotel and it had no view at all. Next day we changed to an Acropolis facing room, with balcony, for an extra 50E. The food at the rooftop restaurant was excellent and the service very good The only reason why I take one star away is the lack of warmth, friendliness at the reception. This is definitely not difficult to improve as friendliness and hospitality/warmth are so much part of the greek psyche! So, hopefully, after our next stay, the stars/rating will be full marks!! good location

Oct 24th, 2020

We stayed in a junior suite - plenty of room and a nice balcony. due to covid restrictions housekeeping were not allowed in the room when we were there but when asked they brought fresh towels, toiletries ect. Good communal areas, nice garden and seating areas. Very limited sunbeds available round the pool - small space - beautiful if you could get a space but very limited. friendly staff at reception TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Hotel porter is a credit to the hotel

Oct 12th, 2020

The first person we met in the hotel was the Hotel porter who is a credit to the hotel. He was polite, courteous readied our bags while we waited to check in. He was meticulous with following Covid precautions. A good start to our stay in the hotel. Electra Palace you should be proud of him. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Awful staff - unhelpful/unprofessional

Sep 5th, 2020

Great rooftop pool, shabby rooms, out of their way unhelpful staff! Extremely disappointed at the check-in staff member (Anna). We have stayed at the hotel for 7 nights, more than any other guest at the hotel as guests seem to use the hotel for a night or two before heading to the Greek islands. Bearing in mind it’s an expensive hotel to stay for 7 nights, you would presume Anna would have gone out of her way to be helpful regarding checkout time (our only request during our stay) - she did the opposite. We asked reception the day before check out if we could check out at 2pm rather than the usual 11am, he said it should be fine as the hotel was empty, but to check on the day. Today, we checked with reception as asked, Anna gave a flat out “No”. She was rude, shouted at us and had no regard or interest that we’d stayed at the hotel for 7 nights!!!! She should approach customers with positivity and a “yes I’ll look into that”, rather than a flat out “no”. After asking Anna after breakfast and pursuing the matter asking for manager involvement, we were allowed to stay until 2:00pm. Our flight is at 10:30pm tonight and we have been left on the streets of Athens with no access to the pool or washing facilities. Sad ending to the holiday, will never stay at this hotel again. Electra Palace and Anna should be ashamed of themselves! We have friends/family visiting Athens in a couple of weeks, we’ve warned them to stay away! I hope this review makes you all think twice before booking. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
