Good but beware weekends

May 21st, 2019

Spent the night on the day before a cruise. The hotel was packed, it was the weekend, big cruise ships going out, and graduation season. Pool was really packed. The hotel is conveniently located by restaurants, shops, and Publix grocery store. Happy hour was really nice, but the breakfast was a feeding frenzy, absolutely crazy, I just grabbed a couple yogurts and fruit and went back to room. The fitness center is on the top floor and with all the people in the hotel I had to take the stairs to use it. Elevators very slow. It is good for cruises, probably better if not departing on weekend. I would stay here again if during weekday. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great hotel for pre or post cruise stays

May 19th, 2019

Great place to stay. Suites are large and were very clean. The snack and drink were replenished each night which my kids loved. Complimentary breakfast was one of the best I have had at a hotel. Was within walking distance to many stores. Pool area was great, never too busy. The only downside for me was the cost of the shuttle. It was 2-3 times the amount of an Uber no matter where you went. Other than that, great place to stay. We will be back. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Holiday

May 18th, 2019

We stay here for 1 night post Caribbean cruise. Hotel is a bit dated and seen some rooms are upgrading. Excellent location and some staff are helpful for any queries. Breakfast was included in the room package but poor and less selection. Free drinks and snacks during happy hours. Pool and the area are excellent, TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Common areas: great. Rooms: Awful

May 18th, 2019

We selected this hotel due to the highly rated pool area and common areas. I never would have anticipated that such an expensive property with such amazing common areas would have such abysmal rooms. We checked in early. Front desk staff were pleasant and accommodating. The first room were assigned had a gut wrenching smell of cigarette smoke. The front desk staff gladly switched the room. The second room had an air conditioning unit that leaked all over the room and created a musty smell. She offered me a third room, but by that point, I was sick of going up and down the elevator. Engineering put an ionizer in the original room and I bought some air fresheners at the grocery store. Nothing fixed the cigarette odor. I couldn’t wait to get out of the room each day. The odor was disgusting. Front desk staff tried to make it right and did their best, but there was nothing they could do. The property is older and the rooms desperately need updating. The wallpaper in the bathroom is a 1970s yellow stripe and the walls are a dingy yellow. The furniture is dark and shows the fingerprints of the last 30 guests. The TVs are 10 years past their prime. The paint is peeling off the door jams and the tiles in the showers are old and cracked. The staff is pleasant and they do their best to keep it clean. The smoky smell was likely due to it being a smoking room 10+ years ago with no real attempt to update the rooms after the change. The restaurant is great but the service is terrible. It took over an hour of being ignored by the outside waiter before we tried to order some snacks from the bar. The bartender didn’t want to take our order, but then gave in with a sigh since he knew we were ignored. Definitely not welcoming at all. It’s absolutely the worst value of any hotel I’ve stayed at given the price I paid. It was truly highway robbery that I’ll address with my credit card company if I can’t get resolution with management. My in-laws were at the HIX next door, and had a much better experience at a much lower price. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Comfort in the familiar Embassy Suites

May 17th, 2019

Nice clean rooms. A pretty tropical Embassy Suites. Halls were very dark in the evening and night due to limited wall scones. Breakfast, lobby, and elevators crowded and chaotic with people gathering for cruise departure, which we were not. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
