Building's Age, Engineering and Mechanical Upkeep Causes Stale, Damp Air within Guest Suites

Aug 22nd, 2019

I stayed at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Anaheim North 3 times now--always in August, 3 of the past 4 years, for 4 or 5-day stays. My first visit was prior to the atrium upgrades, and my last two trips were after the atrium upgrades, which were well executed. The issues I encounter at this specific Embassy Suites location have to do with the age and engineering of the building. Other reviewers mentioned the limitations of the HVAC system inside the hotel suites, but that's not my issue--the A/C in the room did manage to keep the suite cool in August. My problem has to do with ventilation. The bathroom vent fan is very old and very weak. As a result, the bathroom stays pretty damp, even if the fan is running 24/7. There is no separate switch for the bathroom's ventilation fan and light, so if the fan is on, the light is on, too. The dampness of the bathroom can't be contained by the bathroom's ventilation fan. This causes the suite to be always musty/mildewy, even outside the bathroom. The bathroom's paint, wallpaper and metal fixtures all show signs of deterioration, peeling and rust consistent with being exposed to a consistently damp environment. Frustratingly, the Juliette balcony's door is permanently fixed in the closed position, so no fresh air. The housekeeping staff used a LOT of air freshener to cover that musty/mildewy aroma, but air exchange is what's really lacking. Unfortunately it will take significant suite re-engineering to overcome this stale, damp air issue. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

bathrooms in the suite poorly maintained

no hot water in the bathroom faucet and the drain in the tub / shower was clogged. The food is average for an evening reception and the fitness facility had a broken machine and the TV monitors were not working TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

You will not find a finer group of people than the folks that work at this location - they are all "Top Notch!" I always go back because they truly care about your comfort and happiness! The food is also wonderful! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Dissapointing

Aug 16th, 2019

Stayed here with my family for 2 night weekend of August 2, 2019. We were disappointed. The rooms were clean enough, outdated but clean. The carpet in the lobby was old and dirty and the feel of the hotel it self was less then what I would have expected for an Embassy. We stayed at an Embassy in April in Seattle and the happy hour was amazing, their breakfast was amazing and staff were very professional. With that said, this hotel was like a cheaper imitation of my last experience at an embassy. The staff was okay, one person in particular was some what rude and when we checked out I mentioned it to the girl who helped me and she told me the girl i described as rude was the manager. Breakfast was over very early and food seemed sparse. It you were there even half an hour before it was over you were battling for the last muffin. The over all feel of the hotel felt odd. It did not feel warm and inviting. The hotel is also in an odd location, concerned about leaving my car parked in their lot. I would not stay there again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Dingy, not clean

Aug 15th, 2019

When the elevator doors opened, I thought the hotel was under renovation, that is how bad the carpeting is. Next, change the ight bulbs, fluorescent is not complimenting the hotel at all. When I arrived at my room there was a dust bunny on the wall right beside the bed and I needed to wipe out the cola syrup from the mini fridge. I bumped into a manager and he seemed concerned, like he was going to send someone to the room, but it was late and I asked if it could be cleaned in the morning. This is our third morning and it’s still there. Food in and under the couch as well. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
