Big rooms, but big crowds

Jul 22nd, 2019

Rooms are spacious, as in any embassy suites. Our room had seen better days, and needed maintaining. But more importantly the hotel is not equipped to handle the crowds it accommodates. Long lines at the scanty, cheap evening reception. Required early am breakfast to avoid lines. No elevator availability when departing. Yup - had to carry my luggage down 10 flights of steps after waiting for elevator without luck. But if you pack lightly and don’t care to eat the hotel breakfast, the staff is nice and the location convenient. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great room, Loud atrium

Jul 18th, 2019

We arrived by Amtrak at 9:30 am, so wanted to check into the hotel a little early. We were allowed to do so for a $25 fee. We were given a room with an amazing view of the lake, even though we hadn't paid the extra for that, so that was a great surprise! Room was overall pretty nice. The sofa was not the most comfortable, nor was sleeping on the bed in it, according to my son! However all that space was wonderful to have. We enjoyed the pool, the breakfast, and the evening reception. Our only real issue was that the noise from the lobby, even when there wasn't anything that seemed too big happening, went right up and into the room. We were on the first floor above the lobby too, so that might have made it more noticeable. The soundproofing in general wasn't great, as we could hear the people in the room next to us also, as well as conversations in the hall very well. But I'd definitely stay again-great location, as we were able to walk many places and the staff was very friendly. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Check-in and Food (Happy hour) Experience

Jul 16th, 2019

As I mention the check in experience is not good due to key (was not working). I am not happy with the behavior of the agent on the counter. he said that to me go back to the line to fx the key issue. I already spent 30 mins first time in line for check-in then again go to line for fix the key issue. Even this issue due to the first agent or hotel computer system. What great advise you come to the hotel after long traving and go to line for check in and the key issue and go to line one more time Great GREAT TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Extended weekend trip

Jul 15th, 2019

My wife and I stayed here July 12 and 13th. We arrived at noon for check-in. The hotel lobby was busy but it didn't take too long to get through. Our room was not yet ready, but Micah was very helpful and set us up with keys and texted us with the room number when it was ready. Our room was a corner suite on the 14th floor with a view east to Lake Michigan and south toward the river. The accommodations were very nice. We had a miscommunication over the phone regarding the coffee maker and brought Keurig reusable cups. It was a Cuisinart instead that used coffee "bags". No problem. Outside of the Seattle's Best offered in the dining area, there was a Whole Foods across the street with very good coffee options. This hotel was convenient to nearby restaurants as well as shopping. We walked everywhere we needed to go. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Best Service

Jul 14th, 2019

My husband and I stayed 3 nights and couldn't believe the excellent service we received! After checking in we received an text from the desk asking if we liked our room & to see if we needed anything else! We had an amazing room on 16th floor with view of the city! Complimentary breakfast was delicious! My husband does not like buffets so he had his eggs cooked his way! We even made it a few times for the managers cocktails which were a nice touch after walking the city all day! Great friendly staff, and the hotel was always clean! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
