Unprofesional

Jul 10th, 2020

I recently booked a room for July and gave a 250.00 deposit. I needed to cancel for medical reasons and got a cancelation confirmation that stated the money would be refunded in 5-7 days. When this did not happen I called the Hotel and was told the new policy is to keep deposits for 30 days, even though the contract said 5-7 days. I was told there is nothing they could do, so I asked to speak to the manager and left my phone number for a call back that never happened. Clearly this hotel is having serious cash flow problems and needs to keep money that does not belong to them. I called Master Card and reported it to them and they informed me that is illegal and can only keep a deposit for a maximum of 15days. MasterCard agreed to refund my money after 15 days and investigate the hotel. I would be concerned the hotel will go out of business before 30 days and I would loose my deposit. This is very unfair and unethical making the hotel suspect. BUYER BE AWARE! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Booked in august

Jul 3rd, 2020

I recently booked a stay for August 2020... reading the reviews, I am quite nervous and don’t know what to expect. I am worried we will have spent all this money for a mediocre experience. Already I can’t seem to get a dinner reservation for the nights we booked. When I called to book, the receptionist was not very helpful in explaining the different rooms. I am still unclear as to which side of the hotel is better. I booked on the emotion side which says for couples but while reading responses to reviews from management on trip advisor, It was mentioned that the evolution side was quieter. Very confusing. Fingers crossed I guess. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Very poor service

Mar 12th, 2020

My first visit to the Estérel Resort and I left with mixed feelings about the place. On the positive side, my room was nice, the open concept had a nice modern feel to it. The diner and breakfast was acceptable, nothing here to complain about. The spa facility was more or less what I expected. On the negative side was the service from the staff, or lack thereof. The experience at Check-in was not what I usually expect. I was not explained a single thing about the resort, parking, the restaurant, spa nor room locations. I was given a number to txt for room availability information, this was a total joke as I never received a txt nor were mine answered. I was told my room was to be available for 4pm at the latest, 4pm came and went and still no room. At this point I went to the reception area and was disappointed to see a lineup that stretched to the entrance of the hotel with only one person at the desk. You would think that two people would staff the desk at the peak check-in time. So after waiting for 30min, I finally got a room but not the room next to the couple I was vacationing with, which I was promised, this would have taken another hour wait at least. I politely voiced my displeasure at checkout the next day but the girl at the desk was totally disinterested in my troubles. By the way, they have a staff member who may have some issues. He was in the elevator with me, my wife and the couple I came with. He basically undressed the two women in the elevator with his eyes the entire time we were in there, very uncomfortable. All this to say that my first visit to this resort will probably turn out to be my last. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Not 4 star Guest Service

Jan 27th, 2020

My Boyfriend and I have been coming to the Esterel resort several times a year for many years. For our first stay of 2020 we where hoping to stay 3 nights, one of which would be covered by redeeming a gift certificate we received from friends a few months prior. The certificates that are issued by the resort are all individually serialized and one must contact the hotel to reserve using the serial number. Although there is no value mentioned, the certificate in question clearly states it covers one night stay. When I called to make my reservation the hotels response was that the certificate had “expired” and was no longer usable. Needless to say I was extremely surprised and disappointed as the certificate had not been used and Quebec law specifically forbids these types of certificates to have an expiration date. I tried to seek some sort of compromise with the lady I spoke to. She wasn’t interested, flatly and quite rudely denying the certificates validity. I was looking to book for 2 extra nights, but due to this lack of consideration and in light of the tone the conversation had taken I decided that I wouldn’t be staying at Esterel Resort this time and possibly any other time in the near future. It’s not a question of the 200$ value of the certificate so much as the general attitude, tone and flat denial despite the valid points I had raised. As I mentioned at the beginning I have been visiting this resort several times a year since they renovated and reopened it. Esterel Resort used to be a high standard establishment, however these past few years the quality of service seems to have suffered due to poor management and a revolving door of undertrained staff. It breaks my heart to say this as we have an attachment to this town and hotel, but if you are looking for quality service go elsewhere... TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Average and expensive

Jan 6th, 2020

Very average overall. Went there for New Year's Eve and expected a nice dinner and fun party. Overall this is an old resort, rooms have been updated but you do not even get the cleanliness and comfort of a three stars Marriott property (don't mention 4 stars...). The place lacks the sparkling cleanliness of a four stars property. The New Year's Eve dinner at the Bistro Champlain left me hungry at the end of the night and the party was a joke. Prices do not reflect the quality of service and they need to clean up the place; it feels like a cheap Comfort Inn property with some updates. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
