We had stayed at this location twice before and was extremely disappointed with our stay this time. We like the type of room, having a fridge and microwave is a nice bonus. Having to ask for some basic dishes is annoying so we went without. We checked in dumped our stuff and went out for our activity. When we got back to the hotel it was late and when we went to go to sleep I found a wadded up dirty undershirt under my pillow. Obviously the sheets had not been changed since the last occupant. I was tired and they did provide extra blankets and a sheet in the room so we left the bed made and slept in our clothes and made a makeshift bed on top of the bedding. It was not a restful night's sleep. We also woke up with congested sinuses and sneezing fits that cleared up a couple of hours after checking out. The only other complaint we had is that it felt like we were under a storage closet with people stomping in and out of the space above us all night. Otherwise, the room was nicely decorated and spacious. I can live with what they offer for breakfast, but they really should offer disposable bowls if they are going to have instant oatmeal offered. I was going to mention the shirt on check out but all morning there was not a staff member to be seen anywhere, so we dropped our keys and left. We will not be staying in this neighborhood of Madison again in order to avoid this hotel. We utilize Hotwire to book our hotels and while I realize we usually don't get the best room of the establishment that way I do expect a clean room. Very disappointed. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

How do I start this!

I booked two rooms and because I was paying with cash the wanted to charge me a extra 100 dollars.YOU HAVE TO UNDERSTAND NOT EVERYONE HAS OR CAN GET A CREDIT CARD OR PRE PAID The staff is friendly! the people staying their were loud I heard them from my room came in at 330 and yelled f everyone and their sleep I dont care if they are trying to sleep and the people above me were loud you could hear them stomping above me and under the toilet seat had dry stuff under it I stayed in 112.and my mom and neice said next to that you could hear the people laughing loudly and their tv was loud also TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Stay Somewhere Else !!

OK...I do not like writing bad reviews but ownership of this Hotel is deserving of my commentary...I am here in Madison WI on a very busy weekend with Nebraska Football in town, alumni weekend and a dairy conference...so rates for the weekend stay are absurd everywhere...I cannot blame any business pricing for demand and as a business person I understand that...Total bill will be $951 for three days...Absurd for what you get...Yes absurd for what they deliver. The hotel advertises Free Breakfast...yes some bags of oatmeal, coffee and a few packaged muffins / granola bar....and No bowls, Nowhere to eat it...I guess I can take it back to my room and put the oatmeal is a small bowl - OH NO DISH WARE IN THE CUPBOARDS - NO UTENSILS - Oh yes there is some Dish Soap to wash the NO DISHES...NO GLASSES - NO CUPS...You have got to be kidding... Four hangers in the closet -Yes four...come on Extended Stay America...you are in the hospitality business. The staff so far was pleasant, and I cannot blame them for bad ownership decisions although not certain the gentleman taking up towels to someones room (with a can of beer in his hand) is really proper. I cannot go on, but you get the point...This Extended Stay America hotel is no place for an extended stay or any stay...especially given this expensive rate charged this weekend...Very Disappointing Presentation by a chain of hotels in America. THE HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY is something this Hotel knows nothing about. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Vicki is the Greatest - Front Desk Clerk

Vicki greeted my husband and I like old friends. She helped us with questions on the area, restaurants and also transportation. The hotel has a stale smell most likely from people cooking in their units. We found the room to be adequate but did not spend a lot of time in it. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

I arrived close to midnight to a locked lobby and a desk phone that was going unanswered. Managed to get in by tailgating another guest who had already checked in. I made it to the front desk which was empty and had another phone set up to call for service. Tried using the phone to call someone 3 times and nobody answered. After walking around and knocking on random doors near the front desk I finally found someone who worked there. She was friendly, but clearly wasn't used to checking people in. Long story short, even though I was the only one there check in took 20 minutes, I was sent to 2 different rooms, and ultimately told that I had to talk to someone else tomorrow to make sure she had checked me in properly. Rooms are very dated. It has been cleaned, but I still felt like I didn't want to touch anything. Worn old carpets, dingy comforter on the bed, yellowed linoleum counters. These rooms have seen a lot of use and need a refresh. Ultimately it's a cheap hotel and you get what you pay for. Upon checking out the front desk was very curt. I tried to clear up what happened when I checked in and asked for a receipt but I was denied one. Never heard of that happening. The hotel refused to give me a receipt. I came to find later on that I was charged for two separate rooms and had to fight with the hotel over the course of several weeks to get refunded for the extra room, the refund did eventually happen, but it was a real hassle to get there. Bottom line, you're better off going somewhere else. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
