Ok but overpriced

Aug 9th, 2019

Service was good but room smelled. No exercise room, no pool. Grab and go breakfast was really poor. Could have done better at another hotel with just refrig and microwave with better amenities. Won’t come back. Price was just too high for what you got, TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great Stay, but...

Aug 4th, 2019

Overall, we were happy with our stay at this Extended Stay. It's a great location, with easy access to public transportation. We walked a block to the bus stop. Took that to the Orange Line, and into the downtown loop. With that said, there are opportunities for improvement. (1) The refrigerator leaked water into the refrigerator (from the freezer, we think) which collected under the bottom drawers and eventually leaks out the door onto the floor. (2) the towel rod above the toilet easily fell out. (3) The bathroom fan was horribly noisy. (4) The shower curtain was barely long enough to stay inside the tub while taking a shower; a little bit of a draft and it ended up outside the tub. (5) The kitchen table leg was broken and moved from side to side. (6) The bed comforter was made with some sort of slick material and will not stay on the bed during the night; it ended up sliding from one side to the other or sliding off the foot of the bed. (7) We found it odd that the kitchen items were not already in the room (they kept then at the office and were provided upon request), but understand this might be a requirement for the area; we requested the items, which we were provided; however, there were a lot less items included compared to our previous stays with other Extended Stay locations; there were no liquid measuring cup, no glass serving bowls, no measuring cups/spoons, no can opener, no pot holders, and only two pieces of cookware. (8) The frying pan provided had a loose handle; I used a knife to tighten it as much as possible, but really needed a screwdriver; I went to the front desk but they didn't have a screwdriver handy; the lady said they were all that way; she offered to have the handyman bring a screwdriver, but I didn't have the time to wait. A lot of these issues I could have addressed with the front desk, but when you're on vacation, you don't want to waste your time with all these little things. They would quickly begin to zap all your vacation time. Since these were all small annoyances, we just lived with it. Every employee we interacted with was overly nice and helpful. Obviously a great team at this location. There just needs to be attention given to issues that need to be fixed. There's no way that some of these issues (loose frying pan handle, broken table leg, leaking refrigerator, loud bathroom fan, broken bathroom towel bar) were not known by someone on staff. Old, dirty and smelly

Jul 30th, 2019

I stayed here for two nights. The first room I declined as it smelled horrible. The second room had crumbs , fried rice and a bobby pin on the floor. Also, there were stains on top of the refrigerator. It was obvious that my room had not been thoroughly cleaned. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Chicago Visit

Jul 10th, 2019

I stayed at ESA while visiting Chicago for several days. I had to change rooms three times due to loud talking extended guests, assigned a smoking room (there wasn't a no smoking sign on room# sign nor inside the room), and loud a/c. The 4th room was much better, it seem larger, and very quiet. I appreciate Tammie taking the time to check the rooms before assigning it. The only minor issue with 4th room, the lights went out on one side of the room. Chad came and reset the circuit breaker. It happened again the next day, and I reset the breaker. Despite the multiple room changes & light issue, the bed was very comfortable and the hotel location is perfect (airport, restaurants & shopping stores within 10 mins drive). TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

The Hotel was nasty

Jul 4th, 2019

The microwave was dirty & The ceiling had water damage. After changing rooms four times I was finally able to get a clean room. The rooms had hair on the bedding and I was informed the hair came from the dryer, which is unacceptable. Chad was rude and lack customer service. He ask me if I could change the sheets because it wasn’t that big of a deal. I refused an ask him to do so and he said it wasn’t his job. Chad told me he believed I was putting hair on the sheets and we checked three rooms together and he never apologized for his ridiculous comments. I also spoke with the manager and she said she personally check the rooms and doesn’t understand what the issue is. I contact corporate and the offered a free stay but this was by WORST HOTEL STAY EVER! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
