"Where Everybody Knows Your Name"

Jan 17th, 2020

Our first time here and we are already looking to book a stay for next year. What a great week we had. The staff proved their amazing reputation of friendliness, getting to know your name practically IMMEDIATELY, and your preferences of drinks/food/seating, etc. Shout outs to wait staff Angel (aka Miguel-Angelo), Anisetto, cook Faustino, bar staff Esperanza and Alberto, pool manager Mario, entertainment team duo, Anna and Jackie, housekeeping staff member Nohemi, and so many more who were so engaging. The grounds, although small, were the perfect size for us, especially because we could also use the facilities of the adjoining properties, El Dorado Seaside Suites, and the closer resort, Tui Sensimar, both of which are just steps away (the double wooden doors leading to HBR are tucked away, almost imperceptibly, off the zocalo/main plaza of Tui Sensimar...check out my accompanying pictures). Pool was perfect length and warmth for our swimming laps each morning, including the additional long, long lagoon-style narrower pool areas passing by the swim-up rooms (good opportunity to stop for a chat with fellow guests enjoying morning sun and coffee), the gym had just the right equipment for our 7 AM workouts, the poolside hot tub with the non-working jets (maybe SOME day they will be turned on) was a great go-to destination for the 5 PM+ crowd to continue the day-long socializing that everyone engages in no matter what age we all were and are, the meals were fresh, made to order (be prepared to wait and wait for your lunches and dinners unless it is a buffet night.By the way, if you like coconut ice cream, request it at lunch, and the wait for it will be SO worthwhile!) and presented nicely and every evening there is a different themed off-the menu dinner that mimics the various restaurants from Sensimar and El Dorado (eg Friday night is Asian dinner, gleaned from the menu at ED's Klay Talay Asian restaurant), there is no beach to speak of as there is a 2' high stone retaining wall about 25' away from the pool patio's entrance to the beach area where the beach beds and raised dining bungalows are. There are day long activities (aquacise, pool volleyball, yoga, handicrafts, mojito-and-margarita, and ceviche making classes, trivia and a GREAT foam-in-the-pool party one afternoon) lead by the energetic and comfortably friendly "equipe" team. Room-wise, our room 1217 was spacious, a bit dimly lit, but we loved the jacuzzi with corner window views that made us feel like we were in the treetops (also in my pics); we appreciated our daily 6 AM room service delivery of tea and cappuccinos, the mini-fridge amenities ( 4 bottles of liquor+candy+soda+water+chips) and there is a Keurig-style coffee maker+bathrobes+slippers+umbrellas, and a safe, and lots of towels. All in all, between the very friendly fellow guests, the outstanding staff, the perfect-for-us sized property, the food, drinks, and sunshine, it was a great first, and hopefully not last time here! By the way, if you like coconut ice cream, request it at lunch, and the wait for it will be SO worthwhile! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Amazing experience

Jan 4th, 2020

This was our first ever trip to a place like this and we enjoyed it thoroughly. When we arrived the staff was extremely friendly and courteous at check in. Jackie and Anna, the activity staff members were very fun and were always there to help guests. The food was great, breakfast and lunch buffet had a nice variety and in the afternoon they served snacks (kind of bar food type, wings, etc.). Different supper menu every night which made it nice if you're staying for a week. Both night and day activities were good although not exactly as advertised which is fine as we are pretty laid back people. Room was big, had A/C, Netflix, minibar, coffee, etc., only complaint about the room would be that the temperature in the shower was tricky to get just right and the shower head would keep slipping down. All in all, fantastic place to go and be yourself in a non-judgmental space!! Cannot wait to go back! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Its a Keeper

Dec 20th, 2019

This is a small resort, but the most friendly one you will ever visit, the staff are amazing, each and everyone of them, hard to name them all starting at the front desk when you check in, to the activity staff Jackie and Anna, of course the food staff Arnie, Angel, Ensentio, Noel, to mention a few, beach waitress Esperensa, Roberto at the bar, sorry I am sure I butchered the spelling of names...and forgot some amazing people. Massages are amazing make sure you have a beach massage, we had Karen and Pedro, they are amazing. We visit this resort at least once a year and sometimes twice, its like home away from home, nobody judges you, they are just family..Only disappointment this year was the lack of Christmas decorations, and the Nativity scene was not out...really? Its CHRISTmas, besides that it was a perfect fun vacation!! Until next time Merry Christmas to each and everyone of you...see you soon!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
