Great location, quiet and comfortable

Feb 3rd, 2020

Excellent location surrounded by shopping and eating experiences. Standard Marriott Quality accommodations and decor. Great for families. Lots of kids were there but I never heard them. Free breakfast was spot on. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Excellent Stay for Jamestown

Dec 30th, 2019

We stayed at the Fairfield Inn on our trip to see the historic Jamestown settlement. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The location is great, there are plentiful places to eat in the area, even when you arrive late. Breakfast is included in the stay. The Jamestown Settlement is just about a 15 min drive away. Beds were TERRIBLE and soft; heating unit loud and didn't WORK properly

Dec 26th, 2019

Staff in breakfast room, especially a young Asian lady in her 30's, were exceptionally friendly and helpful. She deserves a medal for really going out of her way to connect with customers even when she is really very busy. Front desk staff were really very nice except one who was a crab. Bed was so soft that we were really hurting very badly after staying for several nights. I've never slept on a bed this poor before - and I see from other reviews that others were not happy with the beds, either. When you're not able to get a good night's sleep for 3 nights, it really RUINS your vacation as you are tired and hurting. The pillows were poor quality and not at all comfortable. This is an older property (old closet door looks as if it's from 1980), and the pull out sofa in the suite was disgusting, old, dirty, and looked shabby and as if it needed replaced. We did not even want to sit on it. Room itself was clean. The heating unit was an older wall unit that is not only very loud and kept us up at night (in addition to the terrible uncomfortable bed), but no matter what temperature you turned it to, the room was either boiling hot or freezing cold. So in the winter, we had to turn it off at night because it made the room insufferably hot no matter what temperature we turned it to. Yes, we were FREEZING - but we could only keep it on for 5-7 minutes at a time without the room becoming unbearably hot. I cannot recommend this hotel because not being able to sleep and having the heater be extremely loud and not work properly completely ruined our experience. This was a suite and it did not bear any resemblance to a suite. Not being able to sit on the shabby, old, and dirty sofa did not help. This is not what you would traditionally expect from a Marriott property and it is not ok. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Inexpensive and clean but worn

Dec 23rd, 2019

This hotel is a bit worn. If you are used to the renovated or new-build Fairfield inns you will be disappointed. The suites are dark with large out of style furniture. The lobby area is chopped up with walls . However, it is inexpensive (around Xmas at least) and clean. It does have an indoor pool and free breakfast! The suites facing the parking lot can be loud. It is about half way between the Williamsburg outlets and colonial Williamsburg on a busy street with many restaurants. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Poor Customer Service- After the Visit

Dec 13th, 2019

Starting off- what happened is completely my fault. My wife mistakenly left her glasses behind in our room during our visit in October. We searched the room before leaving but they were not to be found. Yesterday- 2 months after visit I get a note that they were found there in early October. If I wanted them returned I would need to pay postage to get them back, all perfectly reasonable. Although I have left small things at full service Marriotts and Hiltons in the past and they have returned them with no issues at their expense. I did not completely expect that here but when checking the cost of UPS to return them to me I saw on line that it would cost about $7.00. Fairfield Inn wanted to charge me close to $24.00 for their return! Crazy way to handle a customer issue- on top of not even notifying me until two months later now they want to gouge me on the cost of return. I will not be returning to this location ever.
