Hotel Under Renovations

Hotel is conveniently located to all major attractions, shops, restaurants, downtown and ASU. COVID-19 restrictions limit breakfast options. Due to renovations, first floor is unavailable. Pool is VERY small! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Pool Heater Broken

Pool heater was broken President’s Day. Just venturing a guess, but I suspect it’s always “broken”. Room was okay. The hotel has no rooms that can accommodate three beds. Breakfast was typical and okay. They did seem to have some kind of reservation system problem. We checked in early when the room wasn’t ready and then our reservation was canceled. Luckily they had rooms available when we got back from Sugar Mountain late in the evening. There’s a Publix nearby which is nice. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Having a confirmed, guaranteed reservation DOES NOT mean they will have a room!

Having a reservation confirmation number DOES not mean you will have a room when you arrive. This happened to us on 2/16/20. They have rooms but are all DIRTY and they have no housekeeping to clean them. REALLY? Since this is such a poorly run property, you should probably STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE!! Or go ahead and reserve, which seems to mean nothing, and find out for yourself you have no room. Your gamble. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

At Least the Bed Was Comfy

Starting with the positive, the staff were all great when I checked in. The lady at the front desk was extremely pleasant and professional and offered some great restaurant recommendations. Her alone account for both stars. The downside: 1) The second floor wreaks of smoke. The moment you step off the elevator you smell nothing but smoke. The rooms did not smell that way otherwise, I would have asked for a different room or left. 2) Rooms seemed smaller than most Marriott properties I've stayed in. It was just me and my son for one night so it wasn't bad but I was pretty cozy. 3) The deadbolt did not work. It was there, and you could turn the door and watch the deadbolt appear but the hole in the doorjamb that the deadbolt should slide into was not lined up. It appears the deadbolt works fine but a closer look will show. I didn't feel like my safety was at risk in this location however, I try to be as cautious as possible. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Sub Par Fairfield Inn, stay after the renovations

Not the best Fairfield Inn I’ve stayed in. Being at the lower end of the Marriott food chain, I usually don’t expect a lot when staying with this brand. This particular property is in definite need of some updating. After using the Marriott mobile app to check in, we arrived shortly after 8:00 to find our keys were not made. The desk agent asked for a credit card as well, even though I am a Titanium Elite member with a stored credit card on file in my profile. The point of the mobile check in is to make the process quick and seamless upon arrival. Show a picture ID, hand the keys over and say something quick about breakfast hours. The agent made no mention or thanked me for the Lifetime Titanium status. Never offered the welcome amenity either. Keys in hand, we head to or assigned room. As we exit the second floor elevator, we approach our room, only to find the door is being held open by the security latch. We knocked on the door, no answer. We opened the door and found all the lights on, the room was very warm and the bed had been messed up (slightly). We returned to the desk and told the agent what we found. He quickly assigned a new room on the first floor. As we made our way to the new room, the overwhelming smell of cigarette smoke filled the hallway. The room was very tired looking. The toilet was being propped up by two plastic wedges stuck under the front end, like the kind restaurants use to steady a wobbly table. The bed was uncomfortable. One of the light bulbs was burnt out. Breakfast the next morning was standard. Fruits, breads, eggs, cereal, yogurt, juices and coffee. Until this property decides to renovate, please lower your expectations before you arrive. I have also stayed at the Courtyard down the road and it’s definitely a step above this property. I will book there next time I’m in the area. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
