The ONLY place to stay in Quebec City

Apr 7th, 2020

Iconic hotel in Old Quebec. Only spent one night in the city but would love to have stayed longer. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the accommodations were top-notch. Best hotel shower head ever, and the locale is beautiful in the snow-covered winter. Would love to return for a longer stay. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A great hotel especially if you are staying alone. Safe secure and wonderful amenities. Pricey but worth it..the view alone is worth a million dollars. They took wonderful care of me when I face planted in lobby -100% my fault. Called a doctor and no bill showed up Worth every penny TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

"Here's Johnny!"

Mar 25th, 2020

The mysterious, majestic Frontenac, standing proudly looking over the rest of Quebec, surrounded by deep snow and ice. Bleak. I knew it reminded of something. Of course,'The Shining'. Luckily Jack Nicholson didn't put in an appearance. Whilst the outside of the building is spectacular, the inside is less so, our room wasn't luxurious, it was good, but no 'Wow' factor. We weren't in the 'gold'sector though. I know it is an old building but wallpaper repairs where a small square has been cut out with a Stanley knife and patched up doesn't look great. The bathroom needed a makeover and the small wall heater opposite the toilet was positively scruffy, it also had thick dust and the previous occupants long hairs on it. We mentioned this at reception saying it would be fine to clean it next day. Strangely, after the room was cleaned next day, it was still the same. When we mentioned this again at reception we were kindly offered some complimentary breakfasts, which we graciously accepted. But generally the hotel is beautiful and all the staff were friendly and very helpful. Set by the St Laurence river it is close to most things in Quebec. It looked stunning with the frozen trees shimmering in the square at the entrance. I would certainly stay here again. You just have to. I'm sure Jack Nicholson would. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great property - average stay, especially given the circumstances

Mar 24th, 2020

We stayed at the lovely Chateau Frontenac amid the recent COVID crisis. Given this, most of the amenities within the hotel were closed. The restaurant for dinner was excellent - local cheeses and charcuterie - but apart from that, we had an average stay. The alarm went off at 6 am, we were charged parking ($40 + tax) when there was nobody around, and there was just an overall sense that everything was closed in the hotel and the city, so the only thing you could do is check in, sleep, maybe eat, and check out. Overall, an unbelievable property, just value and attention to the customer lacking during a global pandemic. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A great place to stay

Mar 24th, 2020

Under unusual times our stay was excellent. With so many restaurants and museums and events cancelled it had that magical ghostly feeling as we walked around the city! Big thank you for those that were able to stay open as long as you did! Coming back for sure! Stay HEALTHY! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
