Dingy

Jul 16th, 2019

Should have guessed that the charm of living in a castle is getting used to dingy rooms. It has an old world charm , the views are amazing and the lobby and on-site dining restaurants are nice.... but the rooms look old. Considering that this is the most photographed hotel in the world, I guess we expected more? TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Where old meets luxury!

Jul 15th, 2019

Arrival: We flew out of Toronto via Porter. It was a quick flight on a VERY small plane. The car rental through Hertz at the airport was efficient. Our drive to hotel was hotel was through the city. Hotel check-in was quick. Room: The room was large and had a cozy feel, very clean and modern. The bed was very comfortable. Overall: The hotel was in a great location and the service was excellent. Beautiful property, amazing location, but quite expensive

Jul 14th, 2019

The hotel is beautiful. The rooms are modern and clean (I appreciated this very much). The location is perfect. It's close to everything that you should see in Quebec City. The staff are friendly and spoke fluent English. The only thing I found was that our room was a typical room (king size bed, closet, bathroom) and it was almost $500 per night. I think this is overpriced. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Gold level-Worth it

Jul 13th, 2019

I have a difficulty giving out five dots as most of the time I consider “meeting expectations” to be the standard most hotels meet for their value. But for the amount of money spent, this hotel not only meets expectations but exceeds them (my only caveat to this is valet parking is a fortune – if you could avoid bringing a car, I would). The service standard on the gold level – the ease of check-in, the friendly faces, and the incredible amount of help given—this alone almost justifies this rating. I am a sucker for people who are kind to my children, and these folks went out of their way to be friendly to all of my boys, ages five through 12. It was especially notable that one of the ladies worked hard to get us a table at Sam’s bistro that overlooked the river – we have kids who like to look at boats. Additionally, the rooms are simply lovely, perfectly clean, with classic lines and all of the conveniences you want. In one of our two rooms the bathroom was a bit small, as might be expected in a historic hotel but truly continued to feel luxurious due to the extra touches that one expects at this level. I do believe normal check in on the main level might be a chaotic way to start your trip – the lobby is often swamped. Our check-in and lounge upstairs on the gold level was far out of any chaos. I really recommend this option. I enjoyed all of the food at the lounge – breakfast was far superior than your typical continental hotel breakfast and the evening snacks were great. The options for the honor bar were strong. The only small snafu to the trip was that at one point the pool was closed. The folks working at the gold desk kept me appraised constantly as to when it would open and in fact called the second did open – but also offered to give us an opportunity to swim at another hotel if we really needed to. I really appreciate that effort to make things right. From the service, to the rooms, to the incredible location, I cannot stay anywhere else when I come to Quebec city from now on. The Château Frontenac is an amazing place. The service is outstanding. If want to get away for a weekend couples retreat I can’t think of a more romantic place. The people are wonderful and friendly. Virtually everyone is fluent in English. The views are beautiful. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
