Home away from home

Feb 22nd, 2020

Outstanding service, beautiful hotel and managed with exacting details. Stayed her to get away from home renovations and to celebrate a kids birthday. They went out of their way to accommodate us. Left small bathrobes and swim goggles. Love this hotel. Recommend fro families, couples or a treat. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Beautiful historic hotel

Feb 22nd, 2020

We arrived quite late at night flying in from Anchorage after our Alaska cruise but despite that were warmly welcomed by the staff at the reception. The lobby was grand and spacious in the old style and the interiors were quite spick and span. We were given a complimentary upgrade to a beautiful large suite and this naturally transformed our stay experience. The concierge was very helpful in letting us know the Catholic mass times the next day in the morning (which was a Sunday) in a church nearby. There was a complimentary hotel chauffeured BMW 7 series to take us there as well! The hotel was quite close to the waterfront and it was a short ride to the famous Pike Place Market too. The hotel limousine also picked us up from there and brought us back to the hotel too. Very good service all around in general. We definitely had a great stay at this historic downtown Seattle hotel. Amazing hotel with great staff

Feb 21st, 2020

One of the best rooms I’ve ever stayed in. Great views all around. A very nice, classic feel throughout the hotel. The Christmas tree in the grand lobby around the holidays was amazing. The bed was one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept on in my life, I’ve been searching to buy that mattress since my stay and bummed I can’t definitively track down what ones they use. Great modern baths and fixtures. Nothing was out of place or broken, everything was great and staff was friendly and courteous. All around great hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

maybe wait for mid 2020

Feb 18th, 2020

Fairmont Olympic Seattle stay dates February 14 to February 18 Doing a reconstruction of the lobby which won’t be done until mid 2020 so check in is through the opposite side of the building in a much smaller area. I also miss the lobby Majesty that the Fairmont usually presents. We had a suite which was well appointed with a flat screen TV in the bedroom as well as one in the sitting area. I thought the bed was large and comfortable with large pillows that I liked, but my wife thought the opposite and her back hurt the entire time. The bathroom is Up to date with a light that goes on automatically when you walk in (it can also go off if you’re not moving around much in the bathroom). There is also full lighting on another switch. The usual amenities are included with body lotion shampoo conditioner soaps. The towels were large and ok texture (not quite as soft as I’d like) A magnifying mirror and hair dryer were also in the bathroom. There are electric outlets for use and the USB connections but oddly these were in the sitting area and not in the bedroom by the bed. Other notes: there’s a $20 urban experience fee per day that includes a five dollar credit at their coffee shop and free transportation within 2 miles by a car run by the hotel. Wifi is included in this fee but I expect free Wifi. We did not keep a car here but it’s expensive running $60 a day. It’s certainly cheaper to get around the city using Lyft or Uber. If you want to leave the city you can rent a car at car rental agencies (a third of a mile away) or spend a little extra money and have the car delivered to the hotel. (Alamo only) This is still cheaper than parking it overnight. Also notice that they are building a new building across the street so there’s construction noise starting at 7 AM on weekdays. When trying to use Lyft/Uber the location will default to the old (closed) entrance on 5th. You have to call once they’re on the way (411 university ave) TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Did not disclose lobby completely shut-down until JUNE 2020 + all-day construction

Feb 15th, 2020

Arrived to find the entire lobby closed and off-limits until JUNE 2020, the major restaurant closed, and there is all-day construction with noise that fills your room beginning at 9am (including on weekends). Zero disclosure like other high-end properties provide. You check in at a small kiosk, go to your room - that's it, full price. There is one tiny coffee shop & a small restaurant open at basement level - that's it. And given the lack of common areas, they are cramped & crowded. We've stayed at other properties, and they always disclose when major construction or ameneties are off-limits. I would not leave this review if it weren't an expensive property marketing its lobby as its signature feature and the price. And I do not have a habit of leaving negative online reviews. In fact I only leave good reviews if I leave anything. This was such a disappointment for a luxury hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
