A modern classic

Stayed here for a conference. Would recommend this hotel for the location, amenities and service. Although the maids did not come in everyday to make the bed/empty the trash, we particularly liked the bellman, concierge and receptionist. Unlike other 4 star hotels also catering for conference attendees, the hotel offers free access to its small indoor swimming pool, well maintained gym with free coffee, newspapers/headphones and fruit. Another favorite is the basement cafe which served very well priced breakfast from 5-6am in the morning. The room comes with a good WiFi connection and a great minibar/snack selection in case you are sleepless in Seattle! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Simply Amazing!!

Apr 18th, 2019

We visited for our 15th wedding anniversary and prior to going, I emailed the concierge asking them for help with a couple of extras for the room and a restaurant reservation. Well, Laura on the concierge desk went way beyond any expectations. Our room was ready on arrival at 9am (early flights), we had received a room upgrade. The receptionist wished us a Happy Anniversary (surprising my wife) and we then went to our room, which was just fantastic. Large, bright, airy, fresh and comfortable. We slept like babies over the 2 nights, maybe something to do with not having kids to wake us as they usually do at home. The restaurant that Laura recommended (and made the reservation for us) was fantastic, they also knew all about our anniversary and treated us like royalty. Absolutely everyone we interacted with at the Fairmont was wonderful, the location is perfect and everything was just great! Brett in Shuckers Oyster Bar was a tremendous bar tender when we ate their the first night after being too tired to go anywhere else, and we're glad we did. I'll never stay in any other hotel in Seattle again!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

The grande dame of Seattle... still elegant but nicely updated

Apr 17th, 2019

Having grown up in Seattle, this was always THE hotel in town. A Four Seasons for 20-plus years, it became a Fairmont in the aughts but still feels like a 4S me. It’s still beautiful and elegant but the rooms are definitely trying to catch a millennial’s attention. They’re totally up-to-date with some very cool touches... the hidden chrome reading lights on the headboard were my favorite. We requested an early check-in and had got one from Erin, the lovely woman at the reception desk. Everyone on the staff, from the doormen to the women in the gym, had smiles and friendly greetings for us. Which is so rare. And the bed... it was just amazing. There’s a small indoor pool and spa and a small gym, but they were really nice. The location is perfect for shopping and only 4 blocks to Pike Place Market. I think the lobby could use a restyle like the rooms just received, but it’s sad for this former Seattleite to think the famous old Georgian Room restaurant (a beautiful, world-class space) is now only open for breakfast and tea. It’s probably too elegant for the techies in parkas and fleece. The clientele here seemed to be full of Alaska cruisers... a little too sweatshirty for the surroundings ... but the rates were surprisingly low, probably due to the huge, bland Hyatt Regency that just opened up by the convention center and increased hotel competition downtown. Beyond the Georgian Room, there’s also a cool seafood restaurant in the hotel called Shuckers... very atmospheric... and the Terrace Lounge, a beautiful bar off the lobby. If you want water views (there aren’t really any here) and unremarkable modern architecture, the newish Four Seasons is just 4 blocks away. But if you want elegance and style (and equally good if not better service) at one third the price, stay at this historic Seattle institution. You will not be disappointed. I wasn’t. Seattle Supreme

Wonderful, old-world hotel - I had a corner room with three windows, a marvelous in-room dining experience (which included sliced mango & papaya, especially good coffee and a lovely plant on my tray) and a charming bartender for a drink on my way out. Clearly the leadership of this hotel is attending to 5-star details - very impressive indeed. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Excellent hotel

My family has a very pleasant stay. Very comfortable bed, linens. We ate room service every day for breakfast and dinner and it’s one of best we’ve had at any hotel. The staff were very friendly and attentive - Nancy at the concierge desk is a credit to the company. We will be back! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
