Excellent Hotel Close to Everything

Feb 20th, 2020

Friendly service, lovely room, great location on the cable car route; walk down to Union Square or to Fisherman's Wharf very easy, though steep for return trip; Great property at an affordable price. We enjoyed a great breakfast, and had drinks in the Tonga Room downstairs--islands decor with a makeshift rainforest! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Stay elsewhere

Feb 15th, 2020

This hotel is highly overrated. The furniture was dusty. We had no coffee cups and had to call to request some. The service in the Laurel Court restaurant was awful. We had to try to flag someone down in order to even order drinks. When our food finally came out they forgot part of someone’s order. The wait staff appeared to be overwhelmed and unable to keep up with the amount of people needing served. We were much happier with the overall cleanliness and service at a less expensive hotel around the corner. We won’t be back. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Fairmont Experience

Feb 11th, 2020

We stayed here over the long MLK weekend since we had a blast last time. We have become very familiar with the Fairmont brand over the years, and it is usually our go to choice for stays in North America. Upon arrival, we were told that our room was upgraded to tower suite “Stuart Suite” on the 23rd floor which was a rather pleasant surprise. This was the first Acor hotels stay after the introduction of the new Diamond tier, so we had many new perks to enjoy. The suite is very spacious and very well appointed. The bathroom, however, is a little small with not a lot of counter space which can be problematic for some people. Unfortunately, our side of the suite does not have the nice Golden Gate Bridge view, but the city views at night are quite lovely. Since this was a free upgrade, we did not mind one bit. We were able to utilize our new diamond perk to get free breakfast on weekends. The breakfast offered in the palm court is quite nice with a good selection of items and generally attentive staff. The house keeping was on point and we did not experience any issues during our stay at all. We requested late checkout to utilize our newfound Diamond tier perk, but we got pretty inconsistent results. It seems to depend on the person we ask. The first time we tried, we were told that we could only do a 12:30 pm late checkout. We decided to try again the next day, and were told that we could do a 2 pm which is not too bad. During this time I overheard some guests having a guaranteed 4 PM late checkout, so I decided to try again. Surely the highest level membership from Acor Hotels would at least be equal to Amex benefits. Finally, upon the fourth try we were able to get a 4 pm checkout, but we had to move to a “holding room” since the hotel needed our suite back by 2. The holding room turned out to be very nice with the Golden Gate view that we really wanted, so in the end it all worked out. I do wish that the 4PM late checkout request wouldn’t take so many tries for the Diamond tier members. All in all, this was yet another pleasant stay and we will most definitely come back for future stays. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Classic Hotel!

Feb 9th, 2020

We love staying at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco! Upon arrival our check in was swift and easy and our room was ready early. The concierge always had good ideas for restaurants and activities. William, the bellman, was attentive to our transportation, directions and luggage. Rooms were spacious and well equipped. The restaurant was a little pricey but we expected that when we booked the hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Sensational Elegance and comfort!!

Feb 1st, 2020

On a recent one month trip to the US and Canada, this Hotel was by far the most amazing hotel experience of our trip. From check in to check out and everything in between - the service, the quality, history, atmosphere and spacious luxurious rooms far surpassed all others without question. The exceptional attention of Stephen Rogers, along with the front desk staff and the concierge, all went out of their way to most professionally give us a VIP service that made us feel we were in a lavish home away from home and made us feel like their personal guests. Couldn’t have asked for a more welcome experience in San Francisco. !! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
