Friendly Staff and Great Facilities Makes the Difference

Feb 18th, 2020

First, let me address some negative comments: yes, the rooms could be a bit newer and cleaner. However, the friendly and helpful staff and nice amenities (spacious pool, nice spa, daily happy hour with free drinks, etc.) make up for that in a big way. We stayed here for 5 nights and loved that it was adults-only and had a relaxed vibe. I also liked that the pool was open 24 hours a day, loved night swimming! There are beaches within walking distance (or the staff will drive you if you want) and you can chill at the hotel's Moomba Beach Club at no additional fee. (We thought the beaches on the north part of the island were nicer, but Moomba and nearby Pirate Bay are still good places to hang out if you don't feel like driving anywhere). Lastly, the hotel is very LGBT welcoming, another huge plus for my husband and me (who, sadly, have been discriminated against in other parts of the Carribean). I would return and recommend it to others. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Good hotel at a great price!

Feb 11th, 2020

Just got back from staying here for 6 days. It’s not the fancy Marriott but it was fine for us as we are not too picky on hotel rooms like some people who might have to have the best in the room, etc. Although i have stayed in better places. That being said it does need a little fixing, and they are in the process i think. The ONE thing that i hated about the room was there wasn’t any kind of shelving in the shower. Not one place to put soap or razors or shampoo. That was kind of aggravating. As for the rest of the room, it was, ok. Kitchenette had decent size fridge, very cold, so cold some stuff was frozen. Coffee pot, micro, utensils etc. Bed was comfy. Ceiling fan needs to be replaced. A/C was ok.. could have been colder. Patio with table and chairs. So for us its just a place to sleep, and the maid did an awesome job, so it was clean. Landscaping was very pretty. Pool was really nice. Happy hour everyday at the bar next to pool for 2 free drinks was nice, get to chat with everybody. Bartenders were great. All the staff were really nice and friendly and very helpful. Adult only, me and my BF first time doing adult only resort. We made friends with a couple of guys, gay men are so much fun to hang out with,, lol . Golf cart ride to beach, etc. Beach was ok. We rented a car, so we weren’t there very often, we spend our time beach hopping and exploring. You should go ;) TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Jan 31st, 2020

I stayed here for 3 days 2 nights & really enjoyed the hotel & staff. I stayed in a loft suite it was very spacious, nice big bed, and balcony. Charlie the receptionist really made me feel at home during the stay along with the other staff members who when I needed to make a trip to the store or meet with my girlfriends at a resort across the street, drove me around in the golf cart. Oh the bartender makes the mot delicious Cosmo's Ive ver tasted! I recommend this hotel & will be returning when I head back to Curacao in January! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Another great stay at the Floris!

Jan 22nd, 2020

Another great stay at the Floris This was our third trip to Curaçao and our second stay at the Floris Suite Hotel. Even though our last visit was two years ago, the staff remembered us, which was unexpected and lovely. When we arrived, we were promptly shown to our room, which was a surprise upgrade to a two-room suite. It was large, clean, with a king size bed, a lounge area, balcony with seating, and a kitchenette. If you plan to use the kitchenette (which includes a small stove, microwave, toaster and coffee maker, including coffee), we suggest that you bring a sharp knife, some provisions to wash dishes (dish cloth, tea towels, dish soap), salt and pepper (and really whatever you like from home that travels well) and a few ziplocks for storage. Otherwise, there are dishes, cutlery and at least a pot or a pan. The air conditioning works well and is easily adjustable. Since our last visit, the pool has been significantly upgraded, there are new lounge chairs, and the greenery in and around the resort continues to be lush and well maintained. The restaurant serves a fine breakfast and there is a daily happy hour at the bar. The staff is friendly and attentive and it’s a testament to the place that so many of the same people work there. The resort is adult only and LGBTQ friendly, which generates a relaxed and comfortable vibe. The beach is a 5 minute walk away and the resort provides rides to the beach and local restaurants via golf cart on demand. Although not Curaçao’s finest, Moomba beach is sandy and the water is lovely. There are chairs and towels there for Floris guests as well as a small cafe, which makes a very good margarita. While not located in Willemstad, the Floris is close by - a short shuttle ride (~ 10 minutes) to Rif Fort. The shuttle is provided twice daily. However, if you want to explore the island, rental cars are available, and front desk staff can easily procure one from a local rental agency. This is especially important if you plan to explore Curaçao’s 30+ beaches and/or use the hotel kitchenette, as the cab fare to and from the grocery store is almost the same as a one day car rental. There are two very good grocery stores within a 5 minute drive of the Floris. Both also stock wine, beer and spirits. There are three very good restaurants also within a 5 minute walk (or 2 minute golf cart ride) of the Floris. Pirate Bay Beach Club offers an assortment of Caribbean and European inspired meals, while Tomatoes, right next door, makes truly exceptional thin crust pizza. And next to Tomatoes is De Visserij, a fresh fish dining experience like no other in Curaçao. Guests choose from a selection of fresh fish, sides and drinks and take a a seat at picnic tables while all is cooked to order and delivered to the table. Get there early as there is always a line-up and they often run out of the popular red snapper and barracuda. This place is not to miss. That’s my review of the Floris. I recommend this hotel based on: atmosphere, quality of accommodation, friendliness, reasonable price and amenities, both onsite and nearby. Just a few side notes. This was our third visit to Curaçao and our second at the Floris. Some of us got bug bites for the first time - perhaps sand fleas, so take bug repellent. You might also see the odd palmetto bug at the resort, but it is the tropics after all. A few iguana live there as well, as do tiny geckos and two resident outdoor cats. If you do go to the Floris, please give Zolaika, at the front desk, best regards. Tell her Mr. Terrence sent you. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
