Attentive staff, beautiful views, delicious food, great getaway!

Jul 14th, 2019

We arrived late at night due to a delayed flight on July 2nd and walked in to a beautiful aroma throughout the lobby along with candles glowing everywhere you looked. It was peaceful, smelled lovely and was the perfect way to start our trip. We had spoken to Russ at the front desk prior to our arrival a few times and he was not only polite but extremely accommodating with regard to our room upgrade. (We were cashing in 5 suite night upgrades). After running our bags to our room we needed a bite to eat and decided to try the outdoor restaurant. We were greeted by Carey, our server, who recommended a few items and was so attentive and friendly. Everything she recommended was delicious! During our 5 night stay Carey was our server multiple times and NEVER did she disappoint! She was friendly, attentive and always had great recommendations! The world needs more people like Carey in it! We spent one day on the beach and met Stephano and Harley. They handle all of the beach chairs and umbrellas and couldn't have been more helpful! They were kind, friendly and always willing to answer our numerous questions! We noticed our first morning there that the safe wasn't working (merely out of batteries) and our bathroom door in Room 900 was extremely hard to close. It appeared to be coming off the track. My husband called downstairs and mentioned it to Amber from (At Your Service) who said she'd send someone up right away if that was convenient. Charles arrived at our door a short time later and worked with Jose to get everything in working order. We were quite impressed with their professionalism, promptness, and how friendly they were. We enjoyed breakfast four of the five mornings at "AND Fish Kitchen and Bar located in the lobby. My husband loved the egg station and said Bryant made great eggs - the only problem was it was quite crowded most mornings so he only ordered them once. I was a tad disappointed in the breakfast selection and the buffet didn't seem to offer nearly as many choices as it should have given the crowd everyday. I also wasn't made aware of the fact that I could order pancakes - and it would be included in the buffet - until the third day. I will say the crispy bacon was delicious as was the fruit, I just wish I knew it was in the mini fridge under the waffle station. With fruit so good they should include it up on the buffet. I'd also like to mention again how amazing the staff was at the outdoor restaurant: Taryn, Kate and Carey worked tirelessly over the holiday weekend and always with a smile :) That's not always easy to do when some guests are so rude. This Marriott put on quite a BBQ for the 4th with burgers and hot dogs on the beach, a bubble machine, live music, a magician and beach balls for all the folks in the pool. CONS: With so many people and children around for the 4th it was disappointing to see such a beautiful hotel treated like a campground but some of the guests. People were rolling in coolers, ordering pizzas from outside the hotel and setting them up like they were the only guests. Some of the people took over many of the poolside chairs and sat drinking by their coolers all afternoon which didn't give the "paying" outdoor restaurant customers a place to sit by the pool and order lunch. I mean, couldn't the cooler folks go down to the beach? Why take over the pool area on a holiday weekend?? If you're not ordering food or drinks then why be allowed to take over the seats??? The children in the pool weren't being watched and were throwing beach balls at guests, splashing some elderly folks (saw firsthand) and beating each other with pool noodles. It was not quite what my husband and I had pictured for our getaway before my surgery. We also weren't really impressed with something that happened at the spa. We had treatments scheduled for July 5th and my husband's locker got stuck, inside was his money clip (with money), jogging pants and his watch. They couldn't get it open and frankly seemed more concerned with not disturbing the other guests at the spa than retrieving his items. He was told he'd have them at the end of the day and had to walk back to our room in his robe. We never heard from the spa and he called in the morning to inquire about his things, he was told maintenance never showed up the night before (the 4th) to open the locker and they'd check on it. They actually asked if they could Fed-Ex his items to our home. We weren't leaving until Sunday and this was on Saturday morning. He said he'd like them back and the spa manager eventually brought them and made sure to ask for the robe back...almost suggesting he was going to keep it. We also found the spa prices to be very high and were then told that on top of the very expensive services (which were wonderful) that there was also a 20% service fee tacked on to all services and this didn't include the tip!!!! (so we tipped $90 on our spa bill) After pushing further on the phone to inquire about the service fee we were told the folks working in the spa receive 15% of the 20% service fee. I wish they would've told us that before we incurred a $90 tip. We then called the spa back and asked them to remove the ADDITIONAL $90 from our bill as they were already getting a 15% tip. Also, one of the two elevators was out of service for 2 of they days we were there. Not the end of the world, just a longer wait. Overall we had a wonderful experience and would most likely return if for no other reason than the incredible wait staff and hotel service. The food was pretty great too, I only wish they had a larger menu selection! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Such a Pleasant Stay

Jul 14th, 2019

We stayed at this beautiful resort for three nights. First, the fragrance throughout the main floor was abundantly blissful! The staff were so friendly and accommodating. The ocean view rooms faced a picturesque opening to the private beach and was perfect to view the sunrise and set each day. You really do not have to leave the property. There is a restaurant and bar with great food and drinks all day. There are two pools on both sides of the outdoor space. The resort offers umbrellas and lounge chairs, body boards, jet skins, volleyball, cornhole, an assortment of games like checkers and jenga all meant to enhance beach side fun! The restaurant food was delicious, especially breakfast. The waffles were melted in your mouth! The room was comfortable with plush beds and a balcony with a view of the ocean. We would definitely return to this all around great hotel and resort! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Amazing Resort/Beach and Staff was exceptional!

Jul 12th, 2019

Let me start by saying that you can’t go wrong with picking this place. Stay here, stay here, stay here!! From the check in experience, we were greeted with nothing but smiles and a happy polite staff. Manny one of the managers there was phenomenal, he helped us with our room, which by the way was great with the best view. The resort has two restaurants and both were great, we had dinner at Patio 1200 and EVERYTHING on the menu was delicious and the staff once again amazing (recommend the tacos with the mahi-mahi SO good)! For breakfast we had the breakfast buffet and the food was soooo good you just couldn’t stop eating, it’s vacation who cares right? I have to give another shout out (there is a couple in this review because again they were that nice) Dewayne our server at breakfast was hands down the best server I’ve come across at any hotel, his energy makes you feel so upbeat! Marriott is lucky to have him, we requested him every morning because he was that great, everything he recommend to us was perfect and he makes you feel welcomed and makes the experience so enjoyable (request Dewayne I promise you’ll love him). Now for the beach, without a doubt 10/10, the sand AMAZING, the water AMAZING, the beach chairs and umbrella that’s part of the resort fee AMAZING! Once again the beach staff was...you guessed it great, the manager Mike and his staff Harley, Owen, and Thomas are exceptional and exceed expectations, they are very welcoming and really do a good job with the beach chairs/umbrella and overall upkeep of the beach! The beach is always clean and they have a sand volleyball court which is a nice addition. I recommend you rent the jet skis Mike set us up and they were so much fun totally worth it! In summary if you haven’t noticed I think this resort is great the grounds are so well kept from the pool and jacuzzi to the beach. The staff are so welcoming and friendly that it really makes for a great experience, and the room was nice and just the overall aesthetic of the resort was beautiful. I definitely recommend and will be back here very soon! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Jul 11th, 2019

We actually stayed in Orlando for 2 weeks and decided to get away for a couple of days. We chose Fort Lauderdale and this hotel. We had a very nice executive suite on the ninth floor, perfekt for 2 adults and a son age 15. Very comfortable, an absolute amazing view from terrace, espesially the sunrise. The service was excellent all over the hotel. Next time in Fort Lauderdale we will choose this hotel and we really recommend it to others. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Jul 10th, 2019

I had recently stayed at your resort while visiting friends. I had come across a young talent Stephano beach attendant and watersports. He accommodated me and friends as we were enjoying the 4th very professional attentive always checking on us and offering any thing. You can tell he has a special way about him he has a way of going above and beyond. We got to talking and I found out he's a Veteran of the Marine corps and so was my father . A veteran lime him carries himself very well and very professional. He'll make a difference with your establishment. Thank you. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
