Surroundings unsafe - old hotel trying to be today's standard

When you pull up to hotel with a pawn shop across the street and check cashing, what does that tell you? It tells you not to leave the hotel at dark. Unsafe area. During the day somewhat normal - night time another story. Hotel staff doesn't have cash to make change for "tip" money. No refrigerators or microwave in rooms. Arriving after midnight late a female was directed to go into pub area and around the corner is the microwave. Of course the front desk clerk was aggitated by my request. Sent me in there without any lighting. The microwave works by pushing the button every 30 seconds. Heat up an 8 minute meal you push it 16 times while another late check in has to wait for me to finish up. I go to my assigned room. Smelled like someone tried to cover up cigarette smoke odor with febreeze. Back downstairs for a room change. My other friends while stepping off elevator to go to their separate rooms had no choice but to hear wild sexual activity in a room they passed. Walls are paper thin. Did not receive a wake up call as asked. But while I'm getting dressed and packing up of course a maid is knocking on my door even though the PRIVACY tag is on my door. Save your money and precious time. Dont bother coming to this dump, TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Amazing stay! The staff was extremely friendly and very attentive to our needs. The rooms were clean and the bar was fully stocked! Couldn’t have asked for a better weekend! Logan was extremely helpful and we will be staying again! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Transitioning over to Marriott

Stayed there this weekend. It was okay but not that clean. I think that it’ll be better once it becomes a full Marriott. I did appreciate the location. I absolutely love Marriott. I’m glad they bought them out. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Good night's sleep

We stopped in for the night on our road trip to Florida. Received a nice welcome from the staff. They offered us free breakfast as they couldn't give us an upgrade (as a Marriott Gold member). Had a room on the top floor, away from the elevator as requested. Nicely appointed - everything clean, no damage and in working order. Clean, crisp sheets. We're not fans of duvets and wish hotels would put a blanket on beds as another option. The breakfast was typical of the ones you get at any hotel that offers breakfast free with a room stay. Nothing special and we're happy we didn't have to pay the $12 each. Perfectly adequate food which included nice hot scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, grits and oatmeal. Remember to ask for discount coupons for local restaurants. They have them which we discovered once we came back from dinner - not offered up front. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Avoid This Hotel...

1. Checked in to a room with trash on the floor and hairs in the sink (not mine) 2. I did not realize until the next morning when I woke up in a panic thinking I overslept that the hotel had not adjusted the clock for the time change. 3. On my return to the room on the second night, my room key did not work. It had to be replaced twice during my 4-night stay. 4. On the third night, I returned to the room at 6:00 pm to find that housekeeping had never made up the room. The front desk said there was nothing to be done about this. 5. On night three, I returned to the room...the bed had been made up, but the sheets had not been changed (yuk) and the trash from the first night was still on the floor. I filled out a complaint on the Sheraton/Marriott website (I am an elite/gold member) and not one responded. I called the customer service number with no satisfaction. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
