Beautiful surroundings, lovely facility and great service—Wish the property were completely smoke-free

We come here every year, and have always found the facilities to be very beautiful, luxurious, well maintained, and the service is exceptional. We love the location, next to the Batiquitos Lagoon with a lovely footpath. Masks were required, temperature was checked each time you enter the clubhouse or pool area. Screening questions. All much appreciated. The only reason I give it 4 instead of 5 stars is that even though not allowed inside the buildings, smoking is allowed on the balcony of each unit. Since sitting out on the balcony at such a beautiful location is a great pleasure, we could wish that this could be a smoke-free property like the Marriott. I suggested to the management that at least once notification is given that someone is having an issue with the cigarette smoke, that the smoker be notified and asked if they would mind smoking at a designated smoking area that would be located well away from the units. Very clean, excellent service, luxurious even during Covid

Even during Covid we found Aviara lived up to the Four Seasons standard of service. Our room was enourmous, with plenty of space for me, my wife, and two tween sons. We did have some hiccups day one, which is the only reason this isn't a five star review, but those problems were more than rectified immediately by management when we alerted them to the issues. The property is very nice and the golf course is beautiful. This is a great family resort and is incredibly well managed. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Good location, well maintained

We received a week as a gift. Since it is close to our grandkid family we gave it a try. There were 5 in our group. The two bedroom is adequate with a small back patio open to a grass area. There is a small full kitchen. We did not eat out because of the Coronavirus. We did get take out pizza. The pool is moderate size and well staffed with precautions. You can maintain distances on the small deck, but it is difficult passing other groups. There are several places to walk and we took a short drive to the beach. On-site Restaurant had outside eating, but we thought it might be too much of a risk. Resort is pet friendly and parking is adequate. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Horrible service and management.

covers had multiple stains on them and the sheets were dirty. the room was quite dusty and we noticed it lacked Standard hotel services., there were a few roaches/beetles were found crawling around the bathroom. I called the front desk and they told me that the sheets will the changed tomorrow, and that someone will come to dispose of the insects immediately. After an hour and a half of waiting, nobody came. I then called the front desk and told them I will just take care of it myself and they just responded with a "sorry for the inconvenience." the fact they dropped the ball, forgot to send someone, and it took so long were quite disappointing. I expected the sheets to be changed the next day but I found that they weren't even though I had reminded the front desk and housekeeping multiple times, but they were changed Day 3 after a 4thtime of asking. , at around 11pm a really vile, tuna-like smell came through the vents. We immediately called the front desk and a man answered saying "sorry, we will deal with it tomorrow. Someone from engineering department will come." I made sure to let him know that we want to call when we are ready for someone to come, because it's vacation so of course we want to sleep in. At the time, there were 5 of us in the villa so we had to sleep on the floor since we couldn't stay in the studio room due to the smell. Nobody was willing to help us, offer another room, or send anyone in to eliminate at the problem. At 8am the next day, someone rings our doorbell 3 times and I tell them to come back later. It unfortunately woke us all up too. I told the man to come back at 11am, because at 12 we were going to the Beach, and then he comes at 11:45 am. I made sure to call management about my issue since I figured they could help me. I talked to the assistant manager, and she just provided me with a very automated/scripted apology and said she was sorry; there was a lack of compensation, action, and willingness to make things right. . a cleaning woman said she was ready to clean I asked her to wait a few minutes because I was hanging a few items to dry and wanted to do one final check before our departure. When I got back from the car and headed to the room, the doors were closed and she was in there. I knocked a few times and there was no answer. I headed back to the car because we all really wanted to leave and we had a 8 hr drive ahead of us, so we just figured that the items would be shipped back to us, I called about an hour into the drive to let housekeeping know that I left some items and they told me they will call me when they are turned in. A day later, I get a call from security and they said the woman found no items in the room. I told the security man that this was impossible as we are positive 2 items of value were left in the room. He told me she denied seeing anything. 2 days after we left, we then find out that the woman did infect find those 2 items in the room, but “threw them out.” She said she disposed of them in the trash and couldn't get them for us. this sounded like a change of story and lack of honesty. she stole the items, and then when she realized she was caught she said she threw them out because she knew that policy is that all items must be returned to lost and found, so she would be in trouble for that. I was emailing the assistant manager about reimbursement for the items and I was really disappointed to see that I gave him an estimate for just the pants of $148 and he responds saying he will give me $118 because he found a cropped version of them online selling for that. he disregarded my estimate, did research on his own, which is disrespectful and shows how he does not care about the guests or their word. The assistant manager got defensive When I said they were stolen and said that they were not, they were thrown away. Yet, I was told that there is a policy that if cleaning people find any items in the room that are not trash you MUST bring them to lost and found so to me the fact that they were thrown away sounds very untrue. Nobody made it right, compensated me, offered me anything... Just a “sorry” TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Another great stay, even during COVID

We had a great getaway at the Aviara last summer so decided to return again this summer. With COVID, everything was a little different, but we were really impressed with the Four Seasons' team's ability to still make everything wonderful. Highlights -The staff continued to be excellent, even as they took temperatures, etc. We appreciate the hospitality. -Pool and grounds. Once again, we thoroughly enjoyed reading by the pools. -Last year we stayed near the main entrance, and this year we were in the "Summits" -- also good. -Seasons restaurant has adapted to social distancing, disposable plates, etc., but the food and service were still excellent. -Beach - we drove to the nearby Leucadia beach and watched the dolphins jumping and surfing. Everything was clean and comfortable -- a wonderful stay. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
