Wonderful isolated get-a way.

Jan 7th, 2020

Spring, Summer & Fall are the best times to visit this resort. There are many available activities including mountain biking, hiking and even helicopter rides. The lodges are spacious with fireplaces and individual patios. Dogs are permitted for a small fee. The restaurants are worth the drive-about an hour SE of Grand Junction, Colorado. The auto museum is well worth the 30-40 minute experience featuring vehicles and motorcycles from the early 1900's to the late 70's. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Superb!

Dec 9th, 2019

I was a little worried because some reviews talk about the decline of the resort. We did not experience that at all (except for some frayed towels at the pool). Our room was large, comfortable, and clean. The grounds are beautiful and peaceful, with a gorgeous view in every direction. Pool was wonderful and my wife loved the spa. All the staff -- housekeeping, front desk, pool, restaurants -- was wondrously friendly and helpful. The food at the restaurants was delicious. The ATV tour was expensive but a great, great outing. Wonderful hiking trails into Lumsden Canyon leave right from the edge of the resort -- get a map at the front desk. And a free visit for resort guests to the incredible car museum -- wow! I do suggest you bring some snack foods and maybe some wine and beer with you as there is nothing in Gateway but the resort, so you can save a little by bringing in some of your own food and beverage. But it was a great, relaxing, exhilarating visit for us. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Amazing Place. Great Stuff!!

Nov 20th, 2019

Had such a wonderful time at Gateway Canyon. The level of hospitality from Gabrielle (concierge) and Cameron (the Hotel Manager) is unmatched. They were ready and willing to answer any questions that we had and offered help with anything we wanted. Their level of professionalism is top notch. This was our first time here and we shall return. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Outstanding resort in an absolutely stunning location

Oct 31st, 2019

I have nothing but great things to say about this place. Yes, it was pricey, but worth every penny. We experienced none of the negative remarks indicated by some previous reviewers. The resort itself and the grounds are well maintained, the staff was friendly and helpful. Our room was exquisite. We tried both restaurants on the premises and each had great wait staff and delicious food. We did not try the pools, but they looked very inviting. The roads leading to and away (towards Utah) are extremely scenic. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Waste of money

Oct 29th, 2019

The property has potential and the location is fantastic, but when you pay $500/night you expect more, much more. We were celebrating an anniversary, could have ruined everything, but we decided that money is not that important.. otherwise I would be crying until now. There were several issues: - room was not clean. Plenary of spider webs everywhere.. - restaurants are terrible and service not much better. Just an example.. ordered eggs and hash browns, specifically because we wanted hash browns and we even order separately eggs and a side of hash browns... came with potatoes. When asked the server she said, “Yeah, we changed the menu!”.. couldn’t you have told us when we ordered? $13 for eggs and potatoes, not even a piece of bread?? And $9 for coffee that was horrible. - We paid $500 a night and not even breakfast is included? I stay in $100 hotels that have better breakfast for free - $500 a night and not even a bottle of water in the room?? - ordered a cheese plate one day. It was good and had a peach sweet/spice salsa that was quite tasty. Ordered the next day because we liked it... was not the same!!! - picking up leaves is also not necessary... I could go on, but I think you get the idea. I found out that the hotel is for sale, don’t know if that’s the cause or the consequence.. whoever buys it has a lot to do to change the expectations.. I don’t think I’ll try it again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
