Me and Son

Jul 10th, 2020

So the hotel is average at best. Your paying for the amenities, the scenic views and water park. The rooms are sub par at best so disappointed for a Marriott Hotel. However, service @ the pool area superb. Jack the manger took care of me and my sonThomas. I had some Cabana issues and some other things came up out of Jacks control but he was the consummate Manger and made it all good. Job well done! Other than that I wouldn’t waste my money unless u have children like mine who love the water! The 20foot slide is a hit and the pool area is everything so take your chance and see! Oh and if you get a Florida room u will be looking at the parking lot yes the parking lot. Smh TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Bad customer service

Jul 3rd, 2020

Although this hotel is very beautiful, one of the things that talk more about the quality of a hotel is the customer service experience and this hotel lack plenty of it. I believe the customer service of this hotel is very inflexible and lacks professionalism. This hotel was booked for the 26th anniversary of a couple and normally in a hotel this category they make couples that are celebrating a special occasion feel special and even send complimentary things because of the occasion. The hotel was very inflexible in that sense. The hotel is not cheap and clients normally expect more for their money. Very beautiful but Never Again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

July 2020

Jul 3rd, 2020

We just stayed at the Gaylord and had a wonderful stay. We loved that they opened the adults only pool to families to allow for more room in the pools. It was quiet our first few days at the pool but it is VERY crowded at the pool today. All the slides were open and the kid playground and there were lifeguards all over the slides and playground. They give you assigned seats at the pool and have 2 chairs in between each party blocked off. You can pay for premium seats $20 per chair to have front row at the pool if that is important. The pool bar is open for drinks and food. The only restaurants open right now are Moor for breakfast and coffee bean for breakfast. Wreckers is only place that was open for dinner. We have eaten there before and it wasn’t our favorite so we just do takeout and ate in our room. The ice cream shop was closed. The gym is open and they just ask that you clean your equipment with sanitizer wipes when you are done. Everyone wears a mask while walking through any part of the lobby. Once outside masks are allowed to come off. There is no cleaning service so we did have to find some new towels and trash did seem to pile up. Everyone was kind to us. They did not seem understaffed and were kind and helpful with anything we needed. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Rough reopening

Jun 29th, 2020

I want to start this review by saying I’m a Marriott guy and would give the Gaylord Palm another shot once construction and COVID is well past. I booked this property because my check-in day was the first day they were back open post-COVID and I knew the rooms would be clean. The first thing I noticed when I arrived is that there is construction everywhere - on the outside/roof of the convention center, in the main foyer, and beside the water park. I will take the blame on this one as I should of called and asked about that. Secondly, almost all the restaurants and shops are still closed. I understand COVID, but could use one nice dining option. All the restaurants outside the hotel are open for inside seating. The one thing I can’t excuse is the poor service and just ignoring requests from the guests. Here are a couple examples: 1.) Internet TV didn’t work when we checked in. Called the operator and they first connected me to the internet provider for the hotel. After they didn’t answer, they got engineering involved. They came to the room, removed the cable box, and said they would bring a new one. Three days later they never came and we didn’t have internet TV the entire time. 2.) Housekeeping is not cleaning (coming in to) guest rooms, so you have to ask for towels and garbage to be taken out. I called twice for towels one day and came down to the front desk as a third request before I got them. This took place over a period of 4 hrs before and after we went to the pool. I asked for a manager, but they said he was unavailable (he was at the pool taking care of the understaffing issue). The front desk said they would investigate the issues and get back to me, but they never followed up. I will spare you the rest, but I would give them time to get back on their feet before you pay them a visit. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Conference stay

May 22nd, 2020

The Gaylord was hosting our work event, so we stayed on property and ate most of our meals there! I got a very nice upgrade to a suite with a living/dining room - thank you! The suite was very comfortable and spacious, and the balcony overlooked the sailboat restaurant. So nice! The food was very good - we ate at the sports bar, the outdoor restaurant that's poolside, and the main lobby bar. All were tasty with good-sized portions. It helped that someone else was paying! One morning, I lounged poolside with my laptop drinking my Starbucks - a mini-vacation. Lovely swaying palm trees and a nice humid Florida breeze - very welcome in mid-February!
