Affordable nightly rates thanks to its location on Fremont Street
Not as family-friendly as other resorts on the Strip
Part of the Fremont Street Experience, the Golden Nugget is a vintage relic of the mid-1940s. But don't expect the Wild West decor of yore; after a refurbishment in the late '70s, the Golden Nugget is now a popular choice for affordable luxury. The rooms are small, but travelers report on their refreshingly modern feel. Guests also love perks like The Tank, a secured waterslide that goes through a shark-filled tank, and the Gold Diggers dance club's outdoor balcony that overlooks Fremont Street. After a late night, guests can retreat to rooms adorned with feather down comforters, 42-inch flat-screen TVs and spanning views of the Vegas Strip – the large size of the bathrooms and the notably comfortable beds are favorites among recent travelers.

Critic Reviews

While the casino dates back to 1946 (the first building built specifically for gambling) and the hotel to 1973 (it was Steve Wynn's first major property), the place feels comfortably modern thanks to renovations that have kept it contemporary and even upscale by Glitter Gulch standards.

The Golden Nugget has pretty much reigned as Downtown's top property since the mid-1970s, evolving with the times, but maintaining classic appeal.

Lonely Planet

Check out the polished brass and white leather seats in the casino: day or night, the Golden Nugget is downtown's poshest address. With classy eateries and a swimming pool famous for its shark tank, the Golden Nugget outshines the competition.
