Best hotel experience!

Aug 1st, 2020

Wow I cannot emphasize enough how great the hospitality at this bed and breakfast is. I felt so taken care of, and due to COVID-19 felt so safe! All the proper precautions to ensure safety were taken. Rooms are well updated and clean. Staff is so helpful. Complimentary breakfast dropped off in the morning. Great location between Carmel and Monterey. Close to the water and beautiful area. Easy parking. Best hotel experience! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

COVID-19 Protocols Followed!

Jul 3rd, 2020

We were a bit reluctant to take a trip at the end of June, but i definitely needed some ocean time. I had read about some of the protocols on-line and felt assured that precautions were taking place. I received a phone call a day or two prior going over some of the protocols, again on a welcome email, and then again once we checked in. The wearing of masks, social distancing, elimination of the breakfast buffet in favor of direct table service, reduced occupancy, housekeeping staying out of the rooms once guests checked in, removal of decorative bedspreads and pillows in favor of duvets...all spoke to the diligence this inn was taking. The afternoon wine and cheese was available, but again not in a buffet format. When I wanted fresh towels, housekeeping put the used ones in a plastic bag and handed me a new set. All in all, we were very pleased! Merchants in town had customers sanitize hands as they entered. Our favorite restaurat, Peppers, had just constructed an area for outside dining in a section of the parking lot. This was our third visit in the last year...finding PG a great getaway and within a 2-hour drive from our home. I used to visit PG yearly as a child, swimming at the little beach off Lover's Point and visiting the monarch buttterfly grove. Carmel has lost a little of its luster for us, and we find the walking trails along the ocean beautiful. The inn itself is a short walk to the ocean (less than 10 minutes) and from there you can easily access the walking trail. Usually we go for a cozy queen upstairs, but this time the only room available during our time period with a special rate was a queen room on the ground floor. I thought it might be noisy from the kitchen and reception, but there were no noises that really bothered us, and I am sensitive to sound. This room gave us some wiggle room with two chairs and a window seat facing a small quad area and the ice machine ( first time I've seen it :)) on the side of the opposite building. Room was clean and the remote (which we never used) was wrapped in plastic. One bar of soap, one vial of body lotion, and the body wash/shampoo/conditioner were in dispensers on the shower wall. Two sanitizing wipes were in the welcome envelope along with our keys, four chocolate squares, and welcome letter. Two out of the three pillows on the bed were hard, but a fourth pillow in the armoire was down. The sheets didn't feel like they were 100% cotton and thus were a bit scratchy but not a deal breaker. Breakfast was good both mornings...blueberry blinzes one day as the entree and a frittata the next. Orange juice, fresh fruit, and a homemade muffin rounded out the meal. Staff was helpful and pleasant. Looking forward to our next trip! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Spectacular Inn, Wonderful Weekend!

Jun 8th, 2020

We visited this inn for a short weekend trip several months ago. We've stayed in Pacific Grove before at a similar property, but the Gosby Inn surpassed all of our expectations. The employees were incredibly kind and accommodating, and were happy to chat and offer suggestions. Ivy in particular made us feel so welcome, spent a lot of time explaining the Inn/area and making recommendations, and urged us to visit Red House Cafe, a new favorite for us! Thank you again Ivy, your kindness made such an impression on us. We loved the Inn itself, and its location (on an adorable street with lots to do, only a short walk from Lovers Point). The Inn is older but maintained beautifully, super clean, and the breakfasts are delicious. We LOVED the constant access to free desserts, filtered cold water, and coffee & tea - it was a birthday trip and it really did make the whole weekend feel decadent. Special shout-out to whoever makes those lemon bars: hands-down, my favorite dessert of all time. A quick note about the ambience: this Inn had a wonderfully quiet and respectful clientele. There's a lot of quiet little corners to sit and enjoy the view or the fire. I highly recommend this place if that is your thing. If you are a loud/rowdy bunch, this is probably not the ideal place for you. Help keep this Inn the quiet, relaxing haven that it is! We can't wait to come back and visit again in the future - thank you! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

The Gosby House has become our home-away-from-home

Apr 23rd, 2020

We love the downtown setting and proximity to Lover's Point and the magnificent shoreline walk, restaurants, and the cute Pacific Grove movie theaters. The rooms are charming; each one different. The staff is welcoming, and breakfasts are tasty and beautifully presented. We visit Pacific Grove and surrounds three or four times a year, and, after trying many different lodgings, we have settled on the Gosby House. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Another Great Stay

Mar 10th, 2020

We’ve been coming here for about 15 years. It never gets old even though the house is about 150 years old. It is quaint and lovely. The service is great. It is located in Pacific Grove, Calif. It is only a mile from the Monterey Bay Aquarium and within minutes of several lovely restaurants. The breakfasts are excellent with variety of foods. Good coffee, different egg dishes, granola and yogurt, in-season fruits, muffins, bagels and more are available. Afternoon wine and hors d’oeuvres. They really know how to pamper the traveler!
