A sad remnant of better days

Feb 10th, 2021

I booked this hotel for its proximity to the Capitol and the historic nature of the building. Sadly, the only positive remains its location. From checking in with the surly and rude gentleman at the front desk to the run down feel, I can really find few positives to give. I love old buildings...but this one's glory days are behind it. Carpets were dirty. Walls needed paint. Wallpaper was peeling. Window frames were rusted. The furniture, billed as 'antique' was ok...the bed at least was comfortable. One lonely and small piece of art graced the 12 foot high walls of our room (305). I truly hope that the Inn gets it's act together. Right now it's just forlorn. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Governors Delight

Jan 16th, 2021

Stayed here briefly in both 2018 and 2021. The room had no windows but I did not mind as it was clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. It seems to be in more or less the nicest part of the town. I advise readers to patronize distinctive independent establishments like GI rather than the ugly chains that are multiplying all over the country. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Location and character!!

Nov 25th, 2020

This property is fantastic for location and character. It is walking distance to restaurants, parks, bars and the historic Florida Capitol building as well as surrounding history. The hotel has charming features and interesting architecture. Sadly, however, the lobby, hallways and rooms have fallen into disrepair. They need everything from new flooring to paint to furniture and EVERYTHING in between!!! At this point, if you can get a low rate, go for it, for something interesting. But, I would not spend the $250 that we did! Definitely not worth it!!! Although I value location and charm first, when your hesitant to shower for fear of fixtures coming off the wall, it may be time to make different decisions. I sincerely hope someone invests the time and money to bring this property back to a beautiful diamond in the heart of Tallahassee!!!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Wonderful place to stay

Aug 23rd, 2020

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Governors Inn. Very friendly staff, clean room and excellent location in downtown Tallahassee! Several great restaurants nearby within walking distance. Andrew's is right across the street and has excellent food and service as well. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

The Property Manager is very Disrespectful

Jun 21st, 2020

This place is horrible and has horrible people. I went in to use the restroom which the front desk person said was okay (it’s a public restroom place with no sign or person stating otherwise at this time). I also asked if I should leave my drink with him at the desk - he said no it’s okay. I use the restroom, then my friend goes and a white guy approaches to tell me “We don’t belong there” and “we should leave.” I asked him if he was the owner of the building no answer. He proceeds to rush my friend out of the restroom. I ask again - no answer. Then a white woman comes out of her room and says - “y’all always loud” who’s “y’all?” Because I wasn’t until this white man and the lady just said some off stuff to me when I was only peeing. This place is not for “ALL” people and needs to be shut down or restaffed (besides the desk guy - he was chill). But the implicit bias of whoever this white guy was is a danger to “ALL” Tallahassee citizens. I have a RIGHT to use the restroom (with respect - which we did) and for this man to request we leave with no real explanation nor respect is beyond me and saddens my heart even more for humanity. Even if he was coming on behalf of his occupants.. there was a BETTER way of approaching us. This is ridiculous and sad. He may not be a racist but tonight he definitely acted like one vs. simply treating us like human beings. More complaints are coming. This treatment/approach must END. And it will End!
