Wonderful place to stay

Aug 23rd, 2020

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Governors Inn. Very friendly staff, clean room and excellent location in downtown Tallahassee! Several great restaurants nearby within walking distance. Andrew's is right across the street and has excellent food and service as well. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

The Property Manager is very Disrespectful

Jun 21st, 2020

This place is horrible and has horrible people. I went in to use the restroom which the front desk person said was okay (it’s a public restroom place with no sign or person stating otherwise at this time). I also asked if I should leave my drink with him at the desk - he said no it’s okay. I use the restroom, then my friend goes and a white guy approaches to tell me “We don’t belong there” and “we should leave.” I asked him if he was the owner of the building no answer. He proceeds to rush my friend out of the restroom. I ask again - no answer. Then a white woman comes out of her room and says - “y’all always loud” who’s “y’all?” Because I wasn’t until this white man and the lady just said some off stuff to me when I was only peeing. This place is not for “ALL” people and needs to be shut down or restaffed (besides the desk guy - he was chill). But the implicit bias of whoever this white guy was is a danger to “ALL” Tallahassee citizens. I have a RIGHT to use the restroom (with respect - which we did) and for this man to request we leave with no real explanation nor respect is beyond me and saddens my heart even more for humanity. Even if he was coming on behalf of his occupants.. there was a BETTER way of approaching us. This is ridiculous and sad. He may not be a racist but tonight he definitely acted like one vs. simply treating us like human beings. More complaints are coming. This treatment/approach must END. And it will End! The owner is a racist!

Jun 20th, 2020

The owner was blatantly racist. He saw a group of black girls and kicked us out without wondering if we were a paying group. He simply dismissed us because of out skin color. He was especially angry because we were celebrating Juneteenth. Only support this place if you also blatantly supports racist. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Horrible and they know it.

Jan 31st, 2020

I have not seen this level of dirtiness and broken down physical plant in decades. I did not know places like this existed any more. First, there are stairs everywhere and no elevator. Stairs to get to the second floor and stairs to get to the rooms at the back end of the second floor. Then my room’s bedroom is on a loft like area which has a spiral staircase for access. Interesting. Until you take your bags up the spiral staircase. Then the toilet did not flush. So I called the front desk to tell them. They picked up and put me on hold for about 4 minutes. When I hung up and called back, there was a busy signal. So I went to desk myself a few minutes later. Guy was there and not busy or on phone. The manager has to come and fix the toilet. The next morning, the toilet wouldn’t flush again. The manager had to replace a part. The bathroom is filthy. 1970s era ceramic tile with c. 1” wide grout lines are dirty. The shower wall about eye level had long blonde hairs (not mine) stuck to it. The sink is cracked in 2 places. The faucet handles are cheap plastic and dirty. The cabinets are chipped and cheaply repainted numerous times. The breakfast area does not have hot water for tea; You have to ask for that. They have hard boiled eggs but they were over cooked. They did have smoked salmon. That was good. The 3/4” long insect (not a roach or palmetto bug) I found roaming the salmon on my plate was not good. The location is in downtown Tallahassee a short walk from the capital. If you have business at the capital it is great location. For me, if I have to go miles outside of town to find a room I will do that over staying at Governor’s Inn any day. Forget this place. Filthy and broken down. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Perfect hotel for walking distance to the Capitol

Jan 29th, 2020

We were in town to attend a conference at the Capitol and so happy this hotel was arranged for us. For parking you have to use the valet but it really is worth. We didn't need the car once we parked it because everything we needed was within walking distance. Richard, the manager made us feel right at home. He got us checked in quickly and even though we missed the manager Happy Hour he still honored it. They have a nice assortment of local beers as well as wine. He was great host. The rooms are all uniquely decorated. I stayed in Governor Branch and I thought it was best room of the 4. They have a wonderful breakfast and it is self serve but not your basic continental breakfast. We all truly enjoyed our stay thanks to Richard and if in town again plan to stay here! We loved the decor of this hotel. Not your basic change hotel! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
