Good value and great location

Mar 12th, 2020

We stayed here because we were looking for a hotel with a full kitchen for our three day visit to the La Crosse, WI area. The GrandStay was far more reasonable than the other options downtown. The hostess that greeted us was very pleasant and was happy to move us to a higher floor upon our request. The room had no maintenance issues other than the thermostat needed a new battery. The furnishings were fine and the room clean with one exception. We found a pair of dirty underwear and socks behind the bedroom door. When we dropped them off at the front desk, the hostess apologized profusely! It wasn't that big a deal to us, it was just an oversight by the cleaning person who didn't look behind the bedroom door, but we appreciated the hotel's response. Breakfast was typical for a hotel of this caliber. Due to the price point and location we will stay again when in the area. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Please bath and dress before you go to breakfast.

Clean and quiet. Great service. Let me suggest that patrons be asked to dress before they come into the dining area for breakfast. It is repulsive to sit next to a half naked unwashed person in a public area. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Enjoyable stay

Dec 18th, 2019

We stayed at this hotel because it was close to the Rotary Christmas light display in the park. It was just a very short walk on a lit path to the park. Room was very clean and in nice shape. Nothing looked shabby. Nice sheets, pillows and fluffy towels. There is a gas fireplace in the lobby that is super nice in the winter to keep the lobby warm and it is was a great place to bring a bottle of champagne to drink in front of the fire. They had complimentary Bed and Bath hand lotion and ice scrapers at the front desk. Pool is on the small side, but not many people ever seem to use it. Hot tub clean and toasty. The only down side is the noise if kids are running in the hall or jumping on the beds above the room. Also the breakfast is just ok. All carbs. We have stayed here before and we will keep coming back if we are in the area. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great property except for the pool

Nov 30th, 2019

We needed a hotel over Thanksgiving and booked this one for our family of 5 because of the two bedroom suite option, which seems to be few and far between in the area. Loved the hotel itself, the lobby area is very cozy and the room was spacious for what we needed. The biggest disappointment was the pool. It's hard to tell from the picture that is posted, but the pool *maybe* fits 10 people shoulder to shoulder, it is laughable. We were debating between getting an airbnb and this hotel, but ultimately picked this hotel because it had a pool and knew that our kids would love to spend time in one...but they lasted maybe 15 minutes. Definitely would not recommend to families who enjoy swimming as a perk of staying in a hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Comfortable, Clean and Cozy

Nov 4th, 2019

We are extremely picky when we travel... having traveled for business all our lives and then owning a hospitality property makes us notice things... But, last weekend's stay at the GrandStay Hotel & Suites was such a nice experience! Even though the property was sold out, it was a quiet night... despite the usual excited tweens trek to the hotel pool (happens everywhere). The bed was comfortable and plush. The kitchen~ a lovely surprise when one travels for an extended time. Two TV's meant that hubby and I could each have one~ a bonus But, no king size beds in the whole hotel~ meant one of us might end up on that sofa bed... and did. A thin blanket for the sofa bed did not cut it but the friendly front desk gal was very accommodating bringing us two different blankets. Breakfast was the complimentary fare and quite busy. Overall, we find it difficult to get away these days due to our own business but this property delivered an excellent stay. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
