Gigantic Resort with excellent accessibility

Feb 18th, 2020

We were a group of 10 with 6 adults, 3 kids and a baby. We were in 3 rooms on the ground floor as requested. The resort is beautifully landscaped, clean and quiet during the day unless you are around the pools and beach. The nightlife is fun for kids and adults alike. The drinks are strong but not too strong and the food was delicious. The pools were clean and kept at an excellent temperature. The beach is breathtaking. Always chairs available, no matter what time of day. Thank goodness for the shuttles as we traveled with an adult 65+ with a hip issue but he was able to get where he needed to go easily. The staff at every bar, buffet, restaurant, housekeeping etc etc were warm and friendly. We would definitely come back to this resort. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Enjoyment

Feb 18th, 2020

I was totally spoiled. The accommodations were awesome. All I had to do was enjoy. I was there for a 50th birthday celebration. The resort made sure we celebrated. Their spa is awesome and we had excellent customer service from the front desk, concierge, waiters and waitress, the drivers, even security. We had no worries. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Pushy to sell membership

Feb 17th, 2020

There were so many hotel executives pushing you to buy vip premium membership. Even after saying no they keep approaching again and again. It is hard to sit in main lobby during day time as executives keep bugging. Every day its same story. Moreover on the way to pool and beach you have hotel executive standing and asking to buy membership. This is so frustrating. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

1st trip to Dominican

Feb 17th, 2020

We needed a place with good food since my wife hated the food in Cuba. We were only disappointed twice in our 1 week stay and there was no problem sending the meal back and getting something else. My wife's second priority was a great beach and again, she was not disappointed. The sand was beautiful and it was two or three times bigger than the beach in Negril Jamaica. Also, there were very few people trying to sell you something and they weren't pushy about it. There were 5 or 6 different places within the large compound and all but 2 honored our all inclusive bracelet for food and drinks. To get from 1 hotel to another, you could walk or take a small tram. The entertainment was nightly and very well done. Also, at our pool bar there was something going on every day. We encountered a few employees who didn't speak English but never took too long before our query was solved. They were eager to help in any way they could. One important thing was to book your a la carte suppers asap for all your evenings. They fill up quickly but there were people there to assist you with your reservations. We booked our 1st 4 nights and found later that everything was full. This wasn't a big deal to us since there were 3 or 4 buffets in our complex alone that we thoroughly enjoyed for breakfast lunch and dinner. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Fifth time is not a charm

Feb 16th, 2020

I have visited this property five times. Usually I stay at Esmeralda but this time I decided to try the adults only section. I was travelling with my two university aged sons and paid for two rooms. upon arriving I was told that my request for two beds could not be filled as the adults only section doesn’t have a lot of rooms with two beds. But, if I “came back tomorrow” they would try to find me one for my sons. While I was standing at the desk three other people who had been told to “come back tomorrow” did so only to be given the same song and dance. if there is a shortage of two bed rooms in adults only this should specifically be highlighted. You pay a premium to stay in this section—not everyone who wants adults only are couples. as far as the meal reservations are concerned you can’t book restaurants in advance until you have been assigned a room — and of course all the restaurants were booked up for the first half of my stay. The buffet in the aquamarine, where we are obligated to eat for at least half of our meals, is dirty — food crumbs and dried food on the table cloths and the beverage service is practically non existent. I have been to this resort five times. I know what to expect. this stay has fallen well below my expectations. I will not return. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
