Not happy

Feb 17th, 2020

Let me start off with positives. The hotel is beautiful and in a great location. Now the negatives. For such an expensive hotel, there is no club room. As an alternative they have a wine and cheese event but it’s only on Friday and Saturday from 5-7pm. The Saturday i was there this event was so late getting started we missed it altogether. It takes forever for any one to answer the phone, internet login doesn’t work (in fairness the front desk may have been able to help but they would not answer the phone) and the elevators don’t work. I would have easily looked over the elevator issue had we not had all these problems. Probably won’t come back. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Super Visit!!!

They REALLY do an excellent job at this hotel. The location, service, ambiance were all outstanding! We highly recommend if you're visiting this cool, happy city, stay here! The hotel seems like it's dripping in history, but in fact is only about 10 years old. Staff was excellent throughout stay. Neat bar also! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

I could spend a week and never leave here!

This hotel is very unique and the service is beyond outstanding. My room was amazing with a couch and very large bathroom. The bed has incredible linens and was one of the most comfortable hotel beds I have experienced. The staff was very friendly and I appreciated the free shuttle to take me to local places. The shopping is within walking distance and I can’t wait to go back! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Amazing boutique style hotel

This is a great hotel. Location is very central. It is right across the street from Biltmore entrance. A great area to walk around for shopping and food. A few mileage away from downtown Asheville. Hotel staff is very friendly. The rooms are awesome. Traveling for work is tough but staying here makes it feel like home. Very comfortable. Parking is all valet. I highly recommend this place for work stay or a romantic get away. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Luxury? Not at the Not-So-Grand Bohemian Hotel

Jan 23rd, 2020

I booked two rooms in early October, for a total of over $525/night PER ROOM. Our rooms were in the building across a busy street, which is very inconvenient. One of the rooms was a corner room, which had a view of the street and the main hotel bldg, the 2nd room had a view of the brick wall of the adjacent art gallery bldg. Upon entering my corner room, I was greeted by a tray of dirty dishes left on the table outside my door. I entered my room, put down my bags (including my purse and phone) and went next door to visit my friends' room. I immediately noticed their room was small, had an 'open concept' bathroom to the room (no wall), the bedspread was frayed at the bottom, and there was a large tear in the curtain. The furnishings and general appearance of the room were also outdated, worn, and tired looking. I then went back to my room and my key would not work. The housekeeper on the floor was also unable to enter with her key. She called facilities, and a man came over to discover that the batteries in the automated lock were broken. 45 minutes later, I was finally able to get back into my room and retrieve my purse and phone. Upon returning to the room before dinner, we were sitting on the bed and discovered dried blood stains on the throw pillow that was on the bed! I then discovered dried urine on the back of the commode that had not been cleaned, and mold in the shower. But that doesn't compare to later seeing that the bedspread we had been sitting on earlier had semen stains on it in several different places. My corner room was noisy with street traffic, but that was not as bad as the train that rumbled through at 3 am. I did speak to the manager about my concerns, and he (and the breakfast quality in the restaurant) are the only reason this is not a one-star review. To call this place a luxury hotel and charge $500+ a night is appalling for what is received in the satellite building. On a positive note, the hotel is in a convenient location to Biltmore and Biltmore Village. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
