Beautiful hotel beautiful location

Jul 15th, 2019

I needed to travel for business but wanted time to do something fun! This area was beautiful, full of nature, and safe. I went to the zoo and the botanical gardens on the side of my trip. There were tons of boutiques you could shop at in walking distance. The hotel was amazing. Great staff, food and ambiance. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Terrible service.

Jul 1st, 2019

Service is terrible. There is nothing grand or bohemian about the Grand Bohemian. They pitch themselves as one of the best in the south but fail when it comes to service. This is an overpriced Holiday Inn with purple joinery. The restaurant is underwhelming and the wine list isn’t much better. I’ve stayed in 5 and 6 star resorts around the world for the same rate this hotel charges and received better service. Their worst moment was when the hotel’s staff put cones out on all of the free public car spaces for one of the three weddings occurring at the hotel and tried to force us, multi-night paying guests, to pay for valet parking. I took this matter to the under skilled hotel manager and gave her the opportunity to make the situation right with good customer service and she failed. Rolled her eyes, inflexible shoulder shrug, lied to me and could not care less. So, as promised, here is your one-star review! Woeful. Wouldn’t let her park my car. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Sets the Tone

Jun 30th, 2019

The Grand Bohemian sets the tone from the minute you walk into the lobby. From the staff's friendly welcome to the scented candles, which I am obsessed with and wish I could purchase online, I have enjoyed each trip. In the past year, I have gone there for business and really didn't want to leave the grounds. We have a two day seminar and the catering service and setup was exceptional. The participants were impressed and want to go back! I have been back twice since and I have never been disappointed with the service or food selection. Definitely, one of my favorite hotels!! Where can I get those candles to have a piece the Grand Bohemian Mountain Brook of it at home? TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Top Notch Service, an enjoyable stay

Jun 22nd, 2019

My husband did the Porsche driving school so we stayed only a short time- Alabama is HOT! Unfortunately, we didn’t rent a car as Porsche provided him with daily transportation so I was on foot during the day to explore. “The Village” is within walking distance and has cute shops and a Starbucks is handy. I spent a couple of hours at the spa and I was quite pleased with my treatments. The rooms were clean and bathrooms very large. I find the lack of signage in the hotel to be interesting. Most hotels I’ve visited point you in the direction of the fitness room - it’s an a rather obscure location. Same with the restaurant, I half though I was opening the fire escape door. I did read a review here that a vending machine or pantry would be a treat. I agree. I walked up the street in the heat to get bottles of Diet Coke. Overall, it was a very nice stay and we both enjoyed our time in Alabama. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Food was excellent...everything else, not really....

Jun 19th, 2019

Recently had dinner to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Positive first - the food was excellent!! Atmosphere is not what we were expecting (we live on a farm and are pretty chill people) for finer dining. There were only three tables with customers, and the service was awful. Customers dining in jeans, sneakers & t-shirts. There are too many entrances to the noisy bar and its multiple TVs. I don't think a suit is necessary, but that ultra casual attire was inappropriate (IMO.) Those customers should have been seated in the bar area. They had their laptops open and phones going the entire time. If you are looking for a relaxing intimate dinner to celebrate something or "just because", pass on this atmosphere.
