We Started 2021 with a Relaxing & Family Fun Mini Vacation at Grand Cascades Lodge
Jan 14th, 2021
My husband, Daughter (18), and I arrived at Grand Cascades Lodge on January 1st for a family weekend. The Lodge entrance was grandly adorned with Christmas lights and decorations and we were greeted by the staff to check-in. Our room was well above expectations, we had a Suite with a full kitchen and two fireplaces one in the living room area and one on the outside balcony. It was nice to have our morning coffee outside by the fire. We did attend and participated in different activities. We loved the cabaret show and for the price with unlimited drinks & cheese plater, it was well worth the money. A shout out to our waitress Kimberly, who went above and beyond to make us happy. We also attended the Buffett and mentalist show which was nice and safely performed within the Covid guidelines. Our favorite activities were the axe throwing and jigsaw puzzle contest a bonus was there Christmas corner was still open with a carriage ride to take us to live animals, entertainment and fireside s'mores. My favorite was the Biosphere pool where I was every morning at 8:00 am, I felt like a VIP, there was only a hand full of people so I would strongly suggest the am is best to enjoy indoor and outdoor swimming! This was a first-time visit and definitely not the last. Our family looks forward to coming again and trying out another season at this Luxury resort. Great Job Grand Cascades Lodge for keeping within the Covid guidelines! Relaxing, fun, and safe mini getaway! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Beautiful place, with Covid advice 2021
Jan 10th, 2021
We stayed here for two days in January 2021. Beautiful place. Nature trail which winds around the Wild Turkey golf course it a nice couples hike, has some signs about local flora and fauna. All the indoor employees wearing masks and face restaurants, and restaurants have appropriately spaced tables. That means they're a little short on seating so make your reservations before you come. Cabaret was nice; house band and singer were good, comedian not my style but others loved it. Drinks at cabaret are a little light n alcohol but they bring them early and often, good service. The only guest COVID protocol is having one person from your party sign a waiver, so go near your fellow guests at your own risk. The only place this mattered for us is the pool. The biosphere pool a nifty space, but we walked by during several times of day and there were 12-20 people in the outdoor snow pool, which was about 20' by 10',somost of the day it was shoulder-to-shoulder, no masks. They do limit the number of guests in the biosphere pool- to 110!- but once in the room they don't require masks on deck, and of course none in the pool itself. We went each day at 8 AM and it was essentially empty, so if you're up, that's good tie to go. They also close the pool four times a day to clean it. The spa is only offering basic services. We were there on a spa package, and the massage experience is essentially the same as a Hand and Stone; I thought mine was a little better, my wife liked her H&S guy better, so pay the $145 at your option. Also. if you have the spa package, the $145 gets charged to your room, along with the appropriate NJ service taxes, and then they only credit back the $145,not the taxes, so be forewarned. The package also came with a $30 breakfast credit, but since breakfast is $30 per person, we still paid $30 to eat at the buffet. The buffet food is better than average, but not as good as a high-end Marriott. When we were leaving we skipped breakfast and got a delicious egg sandwich at the 'best deli in the county' in Hamburg at the bottom of the hill. I'd give them another shot post-covid and in a different season, but if I don't it would be because of the room. We had a standard hotel room, no balcony. The bed was too hard for my taste, and the family next door had a kid who yelled and banged until 11 at night and started up again at 5 AM, so I didn't get much sleep. Others in the pool at 8 AM had a similar experience with yelling kids next door in a different part of the hotel. One minor quibble; the switch for the bathroom lights was far into the bathroom, making it hard to find in the dark. And the area around the sink is pretty small, so if you are the type of person who brings lots of product, that could be an issue. And they could do a better job of explaining how the heat works in the room(hint- don't tinker with the heater directly, make sure you put your room card in the slot by the door and control it from the thermostat- but the thermostat doesn'twork if you forget to put the card in, and the lights and heat DO work without the card in the door- it just isn't well-regulated.) Great experience and the grand cascade
Jan 5th, 2021
We spent Christmass weekend of 2020 at the Grand Cascade hotel. we have enjoyed the experience a lot. The room was wide, clean and comfortable. The pool was clean, heated and not loaded with people. the staff were very polite and accommodated every issue. We had an issue with our room (noise) that was immediately resolved by the staff. all in all a great vacation. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
