Relax in Cancun

Nov 9th, 2019

The price for what you got was excellent. The room was always well maintained and overall the staff couldn't do enough to meet your requests. They don't have a quick place to grab a fast breakfast but when we wanted to take coffee and out to the pool the last morning we were there they quickly got us to go coffee and an assortment of pastry so we could enjoy. Overall I would go back to be pampered TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Simply amazing

A few months ago we decided to book a trip on a whim with some friends. After looking at several options, my wife decided that Grand Fiesta Americana Coral Beach was our destination. She was not wrong. The location of the hotel was perfect, and the lobby was simply stunning. Our check-in with Rodiberto was incredibly smooth. He even upgraded our room to the 10th floor without us needing to ask while managing to get our friends only two rooms away. We stayed in room 1032, and man, were we impressed. The room was beautifully appointed, and the view from the balcony was spectacular. The aesthetics were great and the food at the several restaurants in which we dined was delicious, but what sets Grand Fiesta Americana apart is the staff. Victor Gomez was extremely helpful and a pleasure to deal with. Nicolasio, Edgar, Wilberth and the rest of the staff at Vina del Mar made our mornings exceptional. Francisco, Roberto, Gaspar, Jose, and all the others at the Bikini Bar were fantastic and made our afternoons the best. All of these employees should be commended for the jobs they do. They truly made the resort just that much more enjoyable and a place we want to return to. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Best customer service ever.

This is a wonderful resort. Where in the world did they get all the marble and granite? Several wonderful restaurants to choose from along with a seafood/roast beef buffet held in the huge gazebo on the beach. Morning breakfast is also a great experience inside the hotel. Upon arrival, you are greeted with a hot towel to wipe your hands off with and at check-in, ask for a glass of champagne. All areas of the Grand Fiesta Americana feature wonderful customer service, especially in the restaurants. Easy access to the pharmacy and grocery across the street TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nice hotel, hidden resort fee, no inclusions.

Nov 5th, 2019

My wife and I (mid-30s) chose Fiesta Americana based on the location. We have always done all inclusive resorts, however my wife doesn’t feel that she eats or drinks enough to make it worth it, so we tried this non all inclusive. The hotel is located right at the tip of the hotel zone, and is in a perfect spot for walking to and from everything in the area. The lobby is very nice, marble floors and walls. Doormen always ensure the door is opened for you. While checking in, we were informed of a $25/day “resort fee” which totaled an extra $100 for our 4 night stay. Also, a deposit in the sum of around $260 was held on my credit card for incidentals and anything charged to the room. After paying for a flight, room, and shuttle; this last cash grab was a slap in the face. We arrived about an hour and a half before check in, and our room wouldn’t be ready for 45 minutes. Understandable. The front desk held our bags and we took to the streets for lunch and to scope out the area. When we returned, our 5th floor oceanfront room was ready. It was a very nice room. Marble floors, a giant comfortable bed, a living area down two marble steps which led to the balcony and a beautiful ocean view. The bathroom area was very well lit, with large mirrors surrounding and plenty of counter space for my wife’s plethora of beauty products. The shower had hot water with adequate pressure, two bath robes were hanging next to it. The mini bar was stocked with beverages, snacks, and a menu that included the prices for any of it. To my disappointment, there was no coffee. Just an espresso machine with espresso pods, for an additional charge ($2.50/pod if I remember correctly). One of my favorite things about vacation is waking up to a cup of coffee on the balcony watching the sun come up. Every hotel I’ve ever been to has had complementary coffee in the room, it was a bummer. I like to jumpstart my mornings with a workout, and the gym here is small but was never busy. They have cardio equipment that faces the ocean which is nice. A weight machine for each body part, a smith machine, and a small dumbbell section up to 50lbs. Adequate and clean. The beach is very small and calm. The drop off happens pretty quickly once you get in the water. Also, the position of the hotel blocks the sunlight for most of the afternoon/evening. Most of our beach time was logged at the public beach behind Coco Bongo, about a 5-10 minute walk. The front desk will lend you beach towels if you ask on your way out. Bigger waves, wider sand area, shallower water and plenty of sun. There is a convenience store with drinks (alcoholic and non alcoholic), snacks and anything you might need for the beach right as you enter the beach area. There are vendors that will bring you food and drinks from the restaurants in the area. Overall a better experience than the hotel beach. The pool area is nice and big, and wasn’t very busy at any point during our trip. We got a couple drinks at the pool bar and charged them to the room, but you still need cash on hand to tip. There isn’t an abundance of sunlight that reaches the pool, so we didn’t spend a lot of time there. Seeing that the hotel was not an all-inclusive and we were ambushed by the “resort fee”, all but one of our meals were had outside of the resort. The quick Mexican style lunches were ok, but when it came to any type of formal couples dinner; the area is a barren wasteland. It is all “Applebee’s” laminated menu type chain restaurants focused on drinks. The outdoor restaurant at the hotel provided our best dinner during our stay. Outside the hotel, be prepared for a never-ending barrage of pitches for excursions, merchandise, taxis and drugs. They are very aggressive and it gets old, fast. They get offended when you ignore their pitches, but you can only say “no thank you” so many times. The showmen in masks outside of Coco Bongo physically grabbed my wife and I by the arms and said to take a picture. Assuming they wanted money for it, and the fact that they thought they could just grab me, I shrugged them off me, grabbed my wife’s hand and kept moving. Overall, the hotel was nice, but I still prefer an all-inclusive. We spent about $1000 USD extra during our 4 nights, and the amount we were spending was always in the back of my mind. For that cost, you could stay at the (busier) all-inclusive Riu resort next door. They have nightly entertainment, plenty of food/drink options, and no real need to leave the resort. Carrying a credit card and cash with me into the downtown area was unsettling at times. I was always concerned I’d drop cash or a card, be overcharged on a card, or one of the aggressive street people would pick my pocket. Next time we will be doing another all-inclusive for peace of mind. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

The food and services of the Vina Del Mar is no good, terrible experience, we spend a lot of time to be serviced ,the food was no good. The Decoration of the Hotel is a Old fashioned , need to renovate the decoration The hotel have huge Spa, but the masseuse she doesnt know anything about massages , the persons work around the spa are very rude , need to be more friendly when you arrive at the hotel they offer you to listen to a discount plan that they offer, I decided that I was not interested and it was an unpleasant experience, they do not offer you a bottle of water for the time lost in hearing that offer TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
