Nothing „grand“ at the Grand Hotel

Feb 12th, 2020

Big rooms are the only plus. Old, smelling, dirty and shabby place, mould in the bath. Broke floor, lamps, scale at the taps. Had to ask to get toilet paper... sorry, the times are over. Renovate this place! It has nothing to do with an Grand Hotel, even not with a 4 star rates accommodation. To call it Versailles is even more ridiculous. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Dont book it you will lose your monye and Vacation! لا تحجزه سوف تخسر مالك و تضيع إجازتك

It was a bitter experience! Our hotel search online was rated 8 and the photos were good Unfortunately, upon arrival, the elevator is broken between the ground floor and the first (at the reception). We stayed for the length of our stay for four days. We had trouble moving the bags up and even pulled them out, no staff was there to help The pictures of the rooms are completely different from reality! There was no room cleanliness, not even for the breakfast buffet. It was very modest Even the tablecloth is dirty and stained! Air conditioners, broken TV, and Wi-Fi are very weak You can order hot water for coffee or any of the reception only, and in case you requested more than once to complain! They hardly bring you more It was the worst hotel and the worst vacation ever !! 2017 visited on July 2017 TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Short stay possible - need to do something to the air ventilation.

Nov 25th, 2019

This hotel has a good location. The room is spacious. I think for the price per night is reasonable. For my check in, the staff at the reception was friendly and he was okay with my request to change the first assigned room with very poor air ventilation (smell of smoke in the room) to another room. For short stay is possible, however, longer stay, may need to reconsider... The hotel should forbid people from smoking in the room. Strange that in the toilet - didn't provide toilet rolls. The shower head is rusty too. There was no complimentary bottle of water in the room too.. Positive note - sofa and coffee table to chill & tables for working too.. Still have lots to improve.. Before you read any further, leave this page and book somewhere else. If it was possible to give negative stars for a property, this would deserve several of them. We arrived around 9pm, tired from the flight only to be informed that they had cancelled our reservation at 5pm "due to non-payment" when the booking (through clearly stated that we were to pay on arrival at the property. "You have no room here. We always cancel booked rooms at 5pm." said the check-in staff. "What?! Why?" we asked. "Because our payment staff didn't take payment from you yesterday." she replied. "But I entered my credit card on so they could." we responded. "Well, they didn't. You should have called them to make sure they did their job. Oh well, too bad. Go somewhere else." she finished. "So it's my responsibility to make sure your staff do their job?" I asked. She rolled her eyes and shrugged. "Does this happen a lot? Giving away people's rooms and then having them show up?" we asked. "Oh yes," she laughed, "all the time." The only thing "grand" about this hotel, is the name. They found a room for us to stay after we pressed them due to our cancelled booking in Beirut's high season. First they said there were absolutely no rooms and when we explained that we would then sleep on the couches in their lobby, they magically found a room. It was absolutely horrible. The building is a run-down hovel deeply in need of a complete renovation. The rooms are no better, to say they are terribly shabby is to be kind. The flickering wall lamps and peeling wallpaper are reminiscent of a horror film, the shower was covered in hair and gunk from previous guests, the curtains and furniture was all covered in dust. The pillows were hard as rocks and the air conditioner turned the living area into a freezer while the bedroom continued to swelter. The staff are awful, rude and inept. The breakfast was set out on dirty plates atop a disgusting tablecloth with stains of all shapes, sizes and colours. The photos on here and are completely false. Beirut is full of hotels and places to stay, do yourself a favour and choose somewhere other than "Grand Hotel". TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
