Lovely stay with amazing food.

Aug 23rd, 2019

Loved this hotel, the location is perfect for walking into the town but also many rooms overlook the harbour which is beautiful. The staff were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for them. The rooms are spacious and fully air conditioned with large bathrooms. The food at this hotel is amazing, the breakfast selection is vast, they even have decaf coffee available which I know doesn't sound like a big deal but so often it isn't available. We were half board and it was very much worth it the extra expense as the evening buffet had a huge choice of the most delicious salads, vegetable and meat dishes, there was a different theme each evening. It was never too busy or rushed and it was a pleasure to dine every evening overlooking the lights and views beyond the harbour, very impressed with the selection, quality and wide choice. On a Wednesday and Saturday they move things outside and provide a Bar-B- Q but I found this to be not as good as the buffet inside, shame as the setting was lovely but the choice reduced somewhat by having it outside. There was also a separate poolside à la carte restaurant if you preferred. I would highly recommend this hotel, do try and book a sea facing view if you can, it's worth the extra. We will book here again (and will ask for exactly the same room!) TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Another fabulous week!

Aug 22nd, 2019

My wife and I have just stayed for the last week at this hotel. I have read reports about the slightly dated decor and i suppose, to be honest, if you were looking very closely you may find areas which are consistent with a very busy, popular hotel. However, for our part we found the overall experience was exceptional! .... The main points being the professionalism of the staff, excellent service in all areas, fine choice of food at breakfast and a general all round friendly atmosphere. My wife has mobility problems and we were advised that because of the steps up to Valletta we could request transport whenever it was required. We had a slight room problem on arrival ... which probably was a miscommunication on my part ..... this was quickly rectified by Melissa, the guest relations manager, who went out of her way to ensure that we were completely satisfied and we couldn't praise her enough!! Finally it was very nice to be invited the welcome drinks reception where we were lucky enough to meet Mr Grixti ( the M D) who was a very charming man. As it was my wife's special birthday she received a cake and gifts in the room which was very unexpected but well received! The customer service at this hotel is second to none and with people like Melissa and her team you would be hard pressed not to be satisfied with your stay. Many thanks indeed! .... see you all next year! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great holiday

Aug 22nd, 2019

We stopped here for the second time and we were not disappointed. Brilliant staff and great rooms. The breakfast was excellent & room service! The outdoor pools were great our three year old really enjoyed them. The only down side for some would be the walk to Valletta as the hotel has a steep walk up to it. But really struggling to see a down side to this fantastic hotel. Looking forwards to our next visit. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

with respect we do not recommend

The hotel does not confirm the 5 stars it assumes. Following an incident in the elevator (my wife and daughter were stuck in the elevator together with other tourists, children and adults, being released after approximately 12-15 minutes, during which time the oxygen level inside the elevator had dropped to near zero creating panic) the hotel staff did not intervene with anything (so that after 6 minutes of inactivity, lack of communication from the staff and panic, they had to try to open the doors themselves in order to breathe), not providing a minimum of medical assistance and not showing a minimum of interest in the situation of tourists. More than that, in the next day's meeting with the hotel manager he threatened us with the fact that he could have called the police the previous night to accuse us of damage to the elevator door and also made a scathing remark. regarding the country of origin. I did not want to take into account the negative opinions found on the specialized sites, but it seems that the respective tourists were right regarding both the conditions under 5 stars offered and the level of training of the staff Passing the fact that the life, the physical and mental integrity of the wife and child were endangered, and afterwards we were treated humiliatingly, as I said in the title, the hotel does not confirm its 5 stars except by position TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Very nice hotel in convenient location.

Aug 19th, 2019

We stayed in this hotel in late July and early August 2019 (9 nights in total) during a tourist trip to Malta. I had selected this hotel after reading the reviews on tripadvisor and mainly based on its convenient location close to Valetta and its facilities (pool, spa, gym, etc.). it turned out to be a good choice. We had a panoramic seafront room with terrace, which I selected because of the view and the quite large terrace. The room was very good and we enjoyed the terrace (when we weren't out exploring Malta). The bathroom had a seperate bath and shower,(something i like) but it could have done with some remodelling (the shower stall door didn't close very well and the pattern of 3 different styles of tiles on the floor and walls was not very inspired). Check-in was very smooth and while we couldn't get into our rooms right away because we arrived around 1 PM we were helped by very friendly staff in the executive lounge who got us some sandwiches and drinks and notified us as soon as our room was ready. Being able to have breakfast in the executive lounge was a plus too. The staff there was very good and helpful. Overall staff in the hotel were very helpful and friendly. That said, the professional level of service was sometimes spotty (towels that weren't always fully replaced by housekeeping, relatively slow service in the ground level bar, a concierge that promised to look into a question I had but then didn't get back to us). A more consistent attention to detail and professionalism in the service would make this a real top hotel. The pool is nice and we enjoyed it almost daily. My wife also enjoyed her spa treatment. I can also recommend the transport service to and from the airport. Apart from breakfast (which was good) we only ate light meals in the bar so I can't comment on the quality of the restaurant. The hotel is very conveniently located close to the city of Valetta so you can go there on foot. It is true that there is a substantial height difference with a lot of stairs but that is par for the course in Valetta. The hotel is also very close to the main bus terminal where you can take buses to all major sights spread around the island. Overall I would recommend this hotel for people who want to stay in a quality hotel with all the facilities and have a convenient location from where to explore Malta. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
