In the beautiful location, this hotel should be able to reach easily the level of the 5 stars as indicated. Once you arrive, you see the imposant building as hotel. Once you enter (no assistance is given for luggage until you arrive at the reception, the check in was done efficiently and friendly. For such hotel, we expected better overall amenities - such as a “gym” which opens only at 10 o’clock in the morning. The first day, we had to call the room service for cleaning the room still at 16.00 hours and not the most friendly reaction from housekeeping ; the towels in the bathroom were old and even with holes ; the bartender who did not really understand English. In general, it is still a nice hotel but definitely not worth their 5 stars. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

For a 'Grand Hotel in somewhere as stylish and upmarket as Cortina, this hotel was a disappointment. Whilst it has all of the amenities one might desire for an upmarket hotel, there is no style or grace, friendliness or warmth that one would expect from such a hotel and indeed gets from other such upmarket hotels. It has recently been refurbished and has been done so 'blandly'; there are no lovely or welcoming areas where one might sit and read a book or lounge; the bar / restaurant is soulless with somewhat rude, inattentive staff, and so overpriced we only bothered to go there once (twice actually I gave the staff the benefit of the doubt, but they remained true to form); and in general, it lacks 'soul'. There was little help or advice for skiers. Yes there is a boot room and ski service room, but no weather or other information at the desk, or mini bus service to the actual ski areas which is a service that one would expect from such a hotel in a ski resort and would be very welcome in somewhere like Cortina where you have to travel to the slopes. This was a shock as its the first time I've ever stayed somewhere that has NO service on this front. Yes - they'll provide a drop off and pick up but that starts at €50 and Cortina is a resort where you have to travel to get to the slopes. Such a shame for an expensive hotel in such a great upmarket town as Cortina. Warmth, style and grace lacking, food and drink way overpriced, service variable (the breakfast staff were distinguished by the fact that they were amazing) plus a lack of true help for skiers. If you do go to Cortina to ski, an alternative hotel may accommodate your needs better. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Nice hotel with central location

We spent two nights here in late August on a hiking trip. The hotel is the largest luxury 5-star hotel in the center of town (can walk to most restaurants, etc) - very conveniently located. Staff spoke very good English and were helpful - especially the concierge Paolo who was able to help us figure out some logistics for our hike at Tre Cime di Lavaredo. Rooms were spacious, clean and modern. No A/C as it’s cold most of the year so we had to sleep with the windows open. Good breakfast spread with lots of variety. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Elegant Mountain Oasis

We spent 4 days there at the conclusion of a girls Dolomite hiking trip. Despite the hot weather, the hotel provided a cool relaxing escape at the end of the day. The staff was extremely attentive and gracious. We especially would like to give a profound Thank You to Paolo who went above and beyond to insure a perfect stay. And, his restaurant recommendations were spot on. The only issue that I think the hotel needs to address is one of air conditioning. Many of the best mountain hotels do not have air conditioning because it has not been necessary in the past. However, given the heat of the last few summers, that would be a welcome addition. Disgraceful treatment of vegetarian and pricing

We stopped by this hotel at 4pm a few weeks ago for a snack while travelling in the area. We had had a very late breakfast and didn't get hungry until then. The waiter told us that we had missed the lunch service but he would be happy to prepare us some toast with cheese and ham. We should have asked the price I guess, but cheese on toast doesn't sound that expensive or complicated and we were just grateful to get some food. My husband and I each asked for toast with ham and cheese, and our friend ordered a portion with cheese only and explained he is vegetarian. Our other friend asked for a gluten free bread roll. We also ordered one glass of prosecco, one glass of beer and two glasses of water. When the food finally arrived, all three of the toasted sandwiches contained ham. Each one had a small pile of Doritos on the plate as well. We sent one back, said again that one of us was vegetarian, and requested a cheese only version. Almost ten minutes later, another toasted sandwich appeared. Our friend lifted the bread to be sure, and the staff had removed part of the ham from the original sandwich, leaving some of the ham still there (which was partially hidden by the cheese so they missed it) and sending the same thing back again! We sent it back again and asked for a fresh sandwich. When this arrived (another ten minutes later), it was fresh and cheese only, but the staff didn't bother to add the side of Doritos which had been with the previous versions. We ate it all, because we were starving. And then the bill came, just over 90 euros. A total rip off and total lack of respect for our vegetarian friend. We just wanted to leave by that point so my husband didn't call for the manager, he just paid it - a mistake, I accept. This is the first review I have ever written on Trip Advisor but we were so angry. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
