Great Location..Great Customer Service

Feb 17th, 2020

The hotel staff is very courteous, the breakfast spread was decent. the rooms are clean and the location of the hotel is outstanding. Martinez has the perfect blend of old world charm in its decor and the attitude but at the same time it is very stylish and modern with big rooms that are clean and the sea facing rooms are to die for. Amazing

Feb 16th, 2020

Went in January on a solo trip for 3 days. The premises are beautiful, spacious rooms, top quality. Staff was extremely attentive and professional, from housekeeping, front office and F&B. Breakfast was great, an extremely wide variety of fresh items. Also the Bar & Terrace were great, really nice menu. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Beautiful hotel, on the Croisette, recently renewed

Feb 2nd, 2020

The Martinez is a 5-star hotel, recently renewed. I loved the colours of the interiors: a balanced mixture of white and light grey which creates a perfect armonia with the sea. The room was quite and spacious. Bed was very comfortable. Breakfast is good, with a broad offer of food (hot and cold). The staff is very polite: in particular Camille was really lovely. Location, Room Decor & Comfort A+; Not Perfect

Jan 27th, 2020

The Martinez is a grand old hotel on the Croissette, directly across from the Promenade and beach, on the east side of town but an easy walk to anywhere in Cannes. Most attributes of the hotel are A+; however, not all. The best attributes are: (a) room decor and comfort and (b) location. The issues / opportunities are: (a) food and beverage & service in the restaurant and bar; and (b) room issues requuiring repeated maintenance staff attention and fixes. Location and Beach Club + On the "main drag" with easy walking access to anywhere in Cannes, including the old town hill restaurants and fortress views as well as the grid of shopping and restaurants. The beach is directly across the street. Hotel is on the east end of town so it's a bit quieter. + There is a terrific, clean self service laundromat literally on the same block on the back side of the hotel. This is a great find. + La Plage Martinez -- The hotel is right on the beach and has a wonderful own beach club for guests. The highlight is the transats on the dock that juts out into the water. As it was around 3 pm, the staff charged us the 26 euro per person price for the front row on the beach for the second row on the pier which are usually 42 euros per person. The views are incredible. The staff was very pleasant. The sunbeds are thick like a mattress and the towels are so fluffy and large. Room decor & comfort ++ We loved LOVED the decor style and colors -- all white, soft dove gray, pale blue, and ivory - the color scheme is very calming and eretheral. It's lovely. + Linens and towels are very high quality. Bed is very comfortable. + Very clean and spacious + Lighting is good (many hotel rooms are dark), with several different settings and dimmers. + Good storage space; we could fit a luggage rack in the entry hallway so that helped. The walkin closet has lots of shelving but is not big enough for two people to be in there at the same time. The closet even has an "alterations menu" (very $$) for all of those designer clothes you will buy that are don't fit! :):) That is a new one. -- There is a mini frig hidden in a cabinet that we simply could not open no matter what. When the bellboy did for us, it was filled with hotel products and, as an automated mini bar, we could not remove anything to store our own water etc. -- The balcony had an ocean view from the side of the hotel, but there was no furniture on the balcony so one cannot sit outside and enjoy the sun and the views. -- The sliding glass door to the balcony did not close properly, letting in noise, cold wind, and rain. It took several attempts by maintenance to fix this. -- Housekeeping often did not service the room until late in the afternoon. Bathroom + Absoultely gorgeous, with marble floor, walls, and fixtures. Very clean. Large mirrors. Large tub and lovely toiletries. + Excellent lighting and fluffy large towels and bathrobes. + Excellent rainshower water pressure and actually enough space to place shower items like shampoo. -- BIG ISSUE -- in the middle of the night, reaching for a hand towel (stored on a shelf under the sink), the towels were all wet. There was some kind of leak from the sink and water was on the floor. This meant repeated requests to the staff to come investigate and fix; repeated appointments to do so; and us waiting around a LOT for two days for the (very nice) maintenance staff to come and work on this (and the balcony door not closing, and the sink not draining at all, and the shower not draining, and the shower rubber sealer coming apart, and some other smaller issues with the room). The hotel mgmt staff took our requests politely but never offered anything (not that we asked; we aren't the type to do so or be complaining or demanding) to help us out or to switch rooms or anything. Given the hotel's service orientation and importance of its reputation, we were surprised but then we're not known A list celebrities but just regular people. The room issues and the lack of attention from mgmt was a disappointment. Food & Beverage The hotel breakfast was 42 euros and a disappointment in that there was a lot of quantity but not high quality. We had drinks one night in the outdoor garden bar which was a complete disappointment. The drinks were simply terrilbe -- one was the Vesper Martini -- and at 22 euros each - all profit margin for the hotel. Fitness Room This is on the 7th floor so you have to walk past the large suite rooms to get there. It's very small but has some floor space and a few cardio machines. It's clean. The lighting is dark, however. There is an elliptical, bike and a treadmill. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
