Central location in the heart of the city
Customer service received mixed reviews
The Grand Hyatt New York makes an excellent home base for sightseers, with its central location next to Grand Central Station. After a long day of exploration, guests can dine at New York Central before retiring to one of the hotel's accommodations, which feature all of the Hyatt amenities you would expect: Hyatt Grand Beds, 37-inch flat-screen TVs, Geneva Sound Systems with iPod docking stations and marble bathrooms. The hotel also boasts a 24-hour fitness center and easy access to iconic New York City landmarks, like Times Square, Fifth Avenue and Central Park. However, some guests say that despite the hotel's fairly recent major facelift, the rates are still overpriced for the lacking customer service. Still, most previous visitors say they would return to this Hyatt for its superb location alone. Another bonus of choosing to stay here: If you're a Hyatt Gold Passport holder, you're eligible to receive freebies, and earn and use points here.

Critic Reviews

Sitting directly next to Grand Central Terminal — and its five subway lines — means the Grand Hyatt is smack in the middle of one of the most constantly congested and transient hubs of the city. Because of this, police officers and security are always plentiful, and the hotel's block is fairly safe.

New York Magazine

The vast, echoing lobby is filled with the gentle white noise of a granite waterfall and features brass columns and black marble floor — all of which combine to suggest a luxury mall.

Both the location—next to the famed Grand Central Terminal—and it's sheer size make this a top pick among large groups. The cavernous lobby leads to very contemporary and comfortable rooms.

This historic hotel has been transformed into sleek and modern central hub. The lobby feels fresh, with low-slung leather furniture and two towering Jaume Plensa sculptures.
