Excellent facility

Aug 18th, 2019

We recently returned from a week at Grand Mayan. First of all the facility is amazing. We got an ocean front view on a high floor which made a huge difference. I think a lower floor room non ocean front would have changed our opinion a great bit as the views from there would be awful. The pools, beach and hotel itself is amazing. I loved the Joy club staff that helped run the entertainment. Such great workers like Johnny, Crispin, Rafael, Fernando, Jose, Andres and more. They made our vacation for us. Great with the kids. They ran the games so well and made it fun such as, ping pong tournaments, volleyball, hold em, dance, aerobics, crafts and even spanish lessons. Johnny took us on a trip to the Turtle sanctuary and translated entire presentation as we were were only people that spoke english. My daughter got to see over 200 baby turtles. English is an issue for many workers. Find Brian at front desk he helped me and good with English. The restaurants are very nice but expensive-not easy to get a simple meal here. Two things negative. I did not like the shuttle system. Others thought it was great-not me. Long waits. The presentation is the WORST. The young kid we had for breakfast and initial tour was superb (Pierre). Other than that, this process stained our trip. The presentation itself never ends. And if you have kids it is miserable for them. We actually cut it short after 3 hours and a pretty rude guy made us sign away compensation (we eventually got partial back). TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Disappointed

Aug 15th, 2019

This is our first visit to the Grand Mayan in Nuevo Vallarta. We are members since 2016 and had visited the Mayan Palace in Vallarta, the Grand Mayan in Riviera and the Sea Gardens in Nuevo. During all of our previous visits we were happy with our accommodations. This time, we were given a suite with the view of the parking garage. We barely used the deck or private mini pool for that reason. When we asked to be moved, we were told that there was no availability that day but to check again. We checked from Sunday to Tuesday and were given the runaround each day. I wonder if a $100 US would have made a difference. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Beautiful Facilities but Overpriced Restaurants, etc.

Aug 14th, 2019

This was our fourth visit to Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta. The building, pools and grounds are still well kept. One thing that bothered us this time was how expensive the restaurants there have become. They used to be reasonable, but now they're more expensive than restaurants in Vancouver (which aren't cheap). Even continental breakfasts at Samba cost almost $40 Canadian each! The massages are also outrageously priced, and you now have to make a reservation at least 24 hours in advance just to use the spa facilities for a maximum of 50 minutes. We think this is crazy, especially since they say we're considered part owners! This never used to be the case and was never a problem in the past. I've never hear of any other timeshare ore upscale hotel having such a restriction and it should be removed here! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Beautiful Resort

Aug 14th, 2019

Our family of eight spent a week at the Grand Mayan in 2, two bedroom suites. The rooms were nice and spacious. Free airport shuttle pickup was very convenient; however, Vidanta should consider shuttle service back to the airport. It is true that the resort is beautiful and the entire staff that we encountered were helpful and friendly. As for timeshare sales people, they are “pushy” (they’re in sales), but we did not find any to be rude. We just kindly, but firmly declined all offers. The food was delicious and the choices were amazing. Something for every palate. Our dinner at the Gong stood out because of the food and the superb service we received from Jesus Zarate and Gerardo Castellon. Our 3 year old granddaughter got miso soup just for her without tofu and scallions and with noodles as suggested by Jesus. The Lazy River was a hit for the entire family. This was not an inexpensive vacation, but we enjoyed our stay and would return. Note: Beware of iguanas if you have food nearby. An iguana actually leaped on our small poolside table. A little scary.
