Good, upscale but not the best yet

Aug 22nd, 2020

This is a good, upscale hotel directly opposite the famous CCTV "pants" building that is familiar from many Beijing cityscape photos. It is a pleasant choice for those new to China as well as those seeking a "nicer" hotel without paying absolute top dollar. Upsides include the prompt and competent service. Some minor downsides, which I would not mention were this not a property aspiring to be great, are that some rooms can be a little dated. I am talking about issues like stains on carpets or scuffed leather surfaces. These are certainly not anything that would keep me from returning but they are a reminder that we are in the upper middle and not the ultimate top tier of hotels in Beijing. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Good stay

Feb 27th, 2020

We had a 4 night stay at Grand millennium Beijing. Room is big and clean. Ask for a high floor room if possible. We can see The Place from our room. Breakfast spread is fantastic. There is a mall just behind the hotel, very convenient. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Excellent business hotel with great service and gym

Jan 6th, 2020

I have had the pleasure of two recent business trips and stays at the Grand Millennium Beijing Hotel (November and December 2019). The hotel offers spacious, clean rooms, excellent and very professional service by the staff including English speakers, and a fantastic gym and pool area. Also of note is the ample breakfast buffet, with protein options including an omelette bar, bacon/sausages, and some dried fish. (Most hotels appear to offer only one carb after another for breakfast, ie congee, noodles, rice, fruit, cereal, etc.) Know that the hotel is attached to a mall that can be accessed from the hotel's second floor without going outside. That translates into greater food options for lunches and dinners and was a welcome surprise. Special thanks to Owen Huang (at the concierge desk) who was of immense help on a Saturday morning following my receipt of last-minute notice from Delta that my flight home was cancelled. I would not have been able to rearrange my flights home without his help. Altogether, this is a solid choice of a hotel if you have business in the area. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Good Room& Location But Poor Buffet Breakfast

Jan 6th, 2020

I was at this hotel for 4 nights and my review as follows: 1) Location: It was great located in the centre of CBD, with a shopping mall linked to the hotel which has quite a number of food outlet, fast food and proper restaurant dining. Even the bigger mall like "The Place" is just about 600 metres walk away, opposite the hotel. There is a 7-11 just opposite the hotel breakfast restaurant and there is lawson in the FFC building basement. As for the subway, line 10 is just 20 steps away from the hotel lobby - so everything is handy and convenient. Taxi and "didi" are plenty too. Overall, the location is as best as it could get at CBD area. 2) Lobby and Check In Experience Lobby staff was welcoming and friendly. So does the receptionist handling my check-in. She is able to converse in good english and check in was fast too. Two thumbs up. No welcome drink was offered. 3) Room 1523 - Superior Room Surprisingly, the room and bathroom were very spacious for superior room standard. Room does look elegant and luxury as expected from 5 star hotel. Mattress and pillows were comfortable, soft and nice. Bathroom has a seprate shower and tub. I was impressed by the layout of the bathroom which was spacious. Maybe my only complaint about the room will be on the poor quality shower gel, body lotion and shampoo - it doesnt smell fresh or good and can feel it isnt high end product. 4) Swimming Pool Area was closed during our visit but it does look huge and nice. The Gym on the other hand was great and nicely being layout surrounding the pool area. 5) Buffet Breakfast The buffet breakfast is served from 630am to 1030am. The restaurant is huge. Unfortunatelty the spread isnt as impressive as the restaurant itself. Firstly, as a 5 star hotel, they only served bottled juices/cordial juices and not fresh blended juices. This is a big let down as most 5 star hotel nowadays offers fresh fruit juices. Secondly, the hotel only serves black tea and not any other tea. This is so miserable considering china is famous for their chinese tea selections. Thirdly, the hotel pastry and bread section is very pitiful. Just 2 to 3 choices of pastries for 5 star hotel and the croissant doesnt feels flaky at all? They have a section for western which menu is the same every morning (baked beans, sauted mushroom, sauteed potatoes, tomatoes, bacon, chicken sausages). The same goes for their local selections which consists of (fried rice, fried noodles, sauteed chinese vegeatable, steamed sweet potatoes, plain porridge, deep fried dough, samosa, spring rolls, steamed beancurd (tau foo far), miso soup, rice, soya milk, steamed man tao (empty) and steamed bun (vege & meat) and these are the same every morning. They also have an egg station, pancake station. Fruits consists of 4 types only, so does their cheese selections and salad. So, it was about 99% of the same buffet spread. They dont even want to serve proper sui mai/har kow or dim sum in their breakfast. Thats's all roughly the hotel spread every morning which I seriously finding it very bad. Another issue with the buffet breakfast is the services from the hotel staffs - plates are not cleared on time and no one even offered us any coffee or tea. So overall, I think the buffet breakfast is really poor. 7) Overall, this hotel has one of the nicest room and bathroom but I am totally let down by their buffet breakfast. Unitl they improve on their buffet breakfast. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Another great stay!

Dec 29th, 2019

Stayed here with my family for a 6D5N trip. Room is large with classic layout and all amenities are there as expected. Location is a big plus, it is centrally located with easy access to trains and shopping malls in the CBD area. There’s a shopping mall right next to the hotel, and they’re linked on the 2nd floor so you can go to the hotel without all the hassle of putting your many layers on (in winter). You will have a nice choices of local food there with out any problems. There’s a supermarket there as well if you want to stock up on any food. The train station for Line 10 is about 2-3 minutes away from the hotel on foot, which makes it super convenient for you to take the subway. Easy and efficient option if you find road traffic congestion an issue in Beijing. Other facilities, the swimming pool and gym are the top notch. The pool is heated around 28 degree which is a great plus in the winter. There are yoga and pilates classes as well, although we didn’t manage to try them out. The gym is huge and not very packed as well, which is a plus if you bring your sports shoes and clothes! Special thanks to Mr. GAO Rui and Grace for their outstanding service level and all staff in the hotel are well trained and showing a great level of professionalism and hospitality. In all, will definitely come back again, for business or leisure! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
