Business stay - three days

Mar 21st, 2019

I stay in this hotel for three days, as I was working at Bishop's. The location is good. The lake in the back of the hotel is very nice. The hotel is clean, and new looking, although I thought that it was very dark inside, especially in the elevators and in the room. Room is confortable, the hallway quiet. The staff is very nice and accommodating. The breakfast is minimalist, but ok for a working day, and not expensive. What I enjoyed the most ? The quiet and relaxing pool at night... open until 10pm, nice music and ambiance, warm water... wonderful. What I enjoyed the least? - The view from the room in the front, on the second floor. (Make sure that you ask for a room facing the lake). - The shampoo that does not foam... - The price of parking (10$/per day)... Why not included it in the price of the room...? Hard to understand! - No restaurant on site, and must use the catering service and order 24h ahead of time, for lunch boxes. The rest was great. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Modern Hotel

Feb 13th, 2019

Nice upscale hotel but a bit pricey. Comfortable room and bed. Room was quite warm at check in because the thermostat had been left at 85F, but cooled down quickly once thermostat was adjusted. Mini-fridge in room. Fast free wi-fi. Rather basic continental breakfast. Lounge for drinks, including a few good local craft beers. Helpful bi-lingual staff. Scenic walking path along the river. Restaurants and shops within a few minutes walk. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

No grand times had

Oct 14th, 2018

Stayed here for one night while visiting Bishop’s University. My first impression was favourable. The decor is modern and different than other hotels we have stayed at. The room was clean but very hot. The thermostat did not work. Although it said we had successfully turned on the air and the set temperature was 18, the temperature never fell below 23. Also the fan wasn’t even on even though according to the controls it was. Nobody slept well. The mattresses were very hard- maybe I noticed this more because I couldn’t sleep. And the pillows were useless. There was only one per person unlike most hotels so we couldn’t double them up. Even rolling then didn’t work-they flattened out like pancakes. The noise from the street below was annoying. There was no conditioner in the bathroom. Only shampoo and lotion. The breakfast was adequate -nothing hot just cereals and breads. The staff were very pleasant - that’s why I rate it a 3 not 2-however my main goal was a comfortable sleep and that was not attained TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Beautifully located property

Oct 14th, 2018

The Grand Times Hotel is located in downtown Sherbrooke, facing the Lac de Nations. It has beautiful views, a wonderful patio and is close to walking/cycling/running pathways as well as shopping, restaurants and coffe shops. I so wanted to love the hotel, but was disappointed. The lobby was very dark and modern with a lovely lounge where you could get drinks late in the day, but no food service. The rooms were clean, modern, but lacked some amenities such as a coffee maker. There wasn’t even complimentary coffee in the lobby except during the continental breakfast which was pretty basic ( cereal, bread, bagels, juice and coffee). There were minimal personal hygiene products provided (shampoo, conditioner and soap only) and there was a $3.99 charge for the bottle of water left in the room. The swimming pool was cold and there wasn’t a hot tub. The exercise room had only 3 poorly kept pieces of equipment and was not cleaned in the 4 days I was there. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Comfortable but Thematically Misplaced

Sep 25th, 2018

This is an extremely comfortable, well-appointed hotel in the middle of downtown. Good service, clean, everything good. But why in the world does it adhere to a New York theme? Extremely contemporary design, stark colors, etc. just don't fit with Sherbrooke or the Eastern Townships in general, and that's a puzzlement, to say the least. But it's certainly a fine place to stay, quixotic as it is. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
