The Grand Wailea Maui Resort

Sep 6th, 2020

I've been meaning to post this for sometime, but I sort of got distracted when everything seemed to stop from COVID19 just a couple of weeks after we returned from our middle Son's wedding in Maui. My wife and I stayed at the Waldorf - Hilton Grand Wailea Maui Resort. II used all of the Hilton Honors points I had accumulated over the past few years, but it was well worth it and exactly what I'd hoped for when I used the points! The Resort is right on the beach on the East side of Maui and beyond the beach you are looking straight West at the everyday evening Sunsets (see photos) and the each evening Luau Entertainment and Dinner as the evening starts into night! It is a beautiful complex, with several excellent food restaurants ranging from daily Brunch options, to very good but causal dining, and of course Elegant Fine Dining. If you only want to escape and not go out much, there are shops with about everything you might need from clothes to even a Drug Store where you can pick up that Sun Screen you forgot to pack. My wife and I felt like we were on our Second Honeymoon! But, we did get out both because of the Wedding on the North Shore and as there are so many interesting things to explore on the Maui Island. We would gladly stay there again! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

This is the hotel you picture when you dream about your ultimate Hawaiian vacation. It has a beautiful beach and lush gardens and landscaping throughout the grounds. Like walking through a miniature botanical garden. It's easy to forget you're at a resort. The hotel has pools galore and even a cute little chapel so that you can get married or have a quiet moment with God to thank him (or her) for the experience at the lovely resort. The deluxe ocean view rooms have panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and were refurbished since my last visit (this was my second stay). The open-air lobby is spectacular, matching the awesome setting of the rest of the resort. The waterpark set the standard for other resorts. Grand Wailea was one of the first hotels to have an onsite waterpark. Many have tried but few have been able to duplicate the features and fun that it has. Because of GW, so many more beach resorts realized that this is an amenity that keeps guests of all ages satisfied...and return. Grand Wailea is a destination attraction. It even offers daily tours. Guests sleep in the rooms but come for all the hotel has to offer. I didn't go to the spa, but heard it is a wonderful and unique experience, similar to most to be had at Grand Wailea. This resort can be enjoyed by people of all ages....waterpark and all! Personal bucket list: check!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great resort for the whole family

Jun 15th, 2020

We visited here July/August of 2019 and the resort is amazing. The pool is huge with several caves with hot tubs, swim up bars, a lazy river, multiple water slides, a rope swing, and of course the water elevator! I have a full video review of the water slides and water elevator on my channel. Just look up my username on the popular video site. The staff was super friendly. While we are HHonors Diamond members, we had to pay extra to upgrade to the Napua Terrace building and in all honesty, it’s probably not worth it unless you eat breakfast, snacks, and dinner at the club lounge every day but who wants to do that when you are in Hawaii. The access to the club lounge is really the main benefit of upgrading to the Napua Terrace. The kids club is nice with a movie theatre and lots of games but the downside is that it closes early at 4 pm. At least that was the time it closed while we were there. The beach is amazing as it’s connected to the property and on the west end so you can view the sunsets every evening. There’s a nice little outdoor mall with some high end stores, a small market, and restaurants within walking distance that was nice too. Our family had an excellent time and we can’t wait to go back! This property is not worth the money. The hotel does not include a sufficient breakfast or lounge privileges for Diamond members and therefore should be avoided. At $700 a night, it is better to stay at a different hotel. There are no longer any worthwhile perks available here for loyal members. The "included" breakfast is a plate of fruit. Pathetic. Even though a lounge exists on the property, lounge access is not granted to Diamond members. Waldorf Astoria should be ashamed of having this property in their portfolio. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
