Not worth the money

Feb 19th, 2020

Wow. Come on. The prices at this hotel are way too expensive to have paint peeling off the walls and leaks in the ceiling. There also is an issue with customer service. Upon arrive we asked about possible upgrades or Hilton lounges and we were greatest with a scoff and and told "we're a different kind of hotel than that". We stayed a year ago as well and had a much more pleasant experience but this year was a real doozy. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Pleasantly surprised

I nearly didn’t book this hotel based on some the bad reviews I’ve read in the past. I am glad I took the chance because we loved our stay. The hotel is massive but it was not overwhelmingly so once we got situated. I agree with all the positive comments about the pool, restaurants, beach, grounds, etc. I think the unexpected perk was the professionalism of the staff. Front desk, housekeeping, pool attendants, grounds keepers, everyone we encountered had the aloha spirit. My only regret is not staying longer. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A little slice of heaven

Our family of three stayed here for five nights as Hilton diamond members. We were very impressed with the hospitality here. We enjoyed the pools everyday, easy access to the beach, and daily breakfast. Since we were early risers, everything worked out nicely for us from getting breakfast to reserving space for the pool. I also enjoyed the evening sunset walks. The sun sets right in front of the hotel. Thank you for an unforgettable experience! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Amazing Family Stay - Big Hotel with Big Amenities

Feb 18th, 2020

Its a big hotel and its busy. Busy in this case is good, because I see why people go this hotel and come back. Beach chairs do get filled fast, so go out early or get a cabana. Pools with young kids or old or if you are a kid at heart are AMAZING! Waterpark is very fun. Fitness centre is the best I have ever seen at a hotel (there are two levels). We had a suite - unreal amount of space with incredible views and a top notch Hawaiian Lanai. Loved the classical appearance of the hotel. Public spaces are awesome. Tonnes for the kids. We had Napua Club access, this is incredible. Food is incredible and drinks are top shelf. If you can splurge on the upgrade DO IT! All staff was amazing with us and our kids. Sunday brunch here is always amazing! They treat Hilton Diamond members very well, which is rare at a hotel of this caliber. Thank you Grand Wailea staff for a special stay. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Disappointed!

Feb 18th, 2020

We've stayed in quite a few different hotels in Hawaii. Maui included. It's been over 20 years since we were here last and it's changed and not for the better. For over $800 a night for a "standard room" we expected more. The rooms themselves though not terrible they are dated. Needs complete refurbishing. The breakfast area is run like a school cafeteria. Dozens of people and kids waiting to be seated in a half-full restaurant by an obviously understaffed check-in desk. Happened every day. You are asked to "call ahead" for your valet parked cars so it can be ready and it NEVER worked. We tried 15, 20, 30, 45 mins ahead and the car was never there. We had to wait. Staff response was "sorry we're busy" delivered with some attitude. The grounds, lobby, pool (staff included) were great. This hotel has a chance to be "Great" but not at $800 ++++ a night. For us value was more like $400. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
