Very disappointed

Jan 24th, 2020

I booked a room for my daughter and her family for my granddaughters 6th birthday gave my card on line it was charged a week prior to their arrival and upon their check in they were told I had to be there and they had to have my credit card to swipe they took off work early and took my granddaughter out of school a little early so they had time to celebrate and they were NOT allowed to check in to a room that was already paid for! I don’t recommend this place at all I didn’t have this issue at the Gaylord and it was much nicer TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Fun for all

Jan 23rd, 2020

We stayed at the Grapevine, TX location for the first time and loved it. Yes it’s overpriced and the buffet food was mediocre (we liked the dinner buffet more than breakfast), but the water park was awesome, the rooms were nice, all the staff was friendly and helpful, and the kids had an absolute blast. The water in the water park was cold at first, but we all got used to it and were able to enjoy being in the water. I would definitely go again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great Water Park, horrendous customer service.

Jan 23rd, 2020

My advice would be, save the money and DO NOT spend the night here, and DO NOT eat here. We stayed for 2 week days, and were so dissatisfied with the customer service, food was terrible and it took over an hour to get. The water park would be worth a day pass. The rest of the "resort" is a joke. We paid over $50 for breakfast with the "characters" she them once, and didn't even get our waitress to get us our drinks before we finished eating. We will never be staying here again, we may consider getting a day pass to the water park. It would take a lot of convincing from our kids to do so. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

One time experience

Take my advice and take a cruise to get the value for your money. Rooms are not as grand as website appears and very minimal comfort put into them. The only value here was the waterpark inclusion to the room price. You can't have both at a cheaper rate by staying somewhere else and using the daytime waterpark tickets unfortunately. The buffet was substandard quality however the lodge restaurant was good food. We are chalking this up to the kids had fun and that's what matters but after the 1.5days they were done to. Great stay; review to help with first timers

Jan 20th, 2020

This was our first time staying at GWL. We have family that are regulars at the KC area one and love it. Thankfully she gave me some tips and tricks to make the most out of your stay. First, the food is par. Expensive but nothing exceptional. I recommend bringing breakfast (there is a microwave and mini fridge in the rooms) and ordering via UberEats, Doordash, or another revunue. Or taking a quick trip out of the hotel for a much better meal. That'll keep your costs down and give you a delightful meal. Make sure to be diligent with your towel rentals. You check towels in and out, they charge $15 if one is not returned. We returned our 4 towels right before leaving the park, but still received a $60 charge on our final balance email later that evening. I called and it was refunded right away. WIth no arguing or disagreement from the staff, I assume this a regular occurance so be mindful of that when checking your final statement. Bring a spare set of towels for when you leave so you can stay at the waterpark after checkout and still have available (dry) towels. Don't forget lots of easy to pack snacks, flip flops, wipes, etc. My children (and husband and I!) were starving during our first visit at the waterpark and ended up spending $14 on a pretzel and dip-n-dots.Both left something to be desired and were quite pricey. I saw others with food and drinks packed in coolers and bags. Lastly, enjoy your time! The lifeguards are watchful so don't be alarmed if you hear the whistle several times for (what seem to be) insigificant offenses, they are very good at monitoring and keeping people in line.
