Excellent hotel, tiny downsides only
Sep 18th, 2020
We just came back from Creta Palace, stayed there for 12 days with 2 little kids. What can I say...the best hotel I have been to! Rooms, beach, restaurants (!!!), but most importantly wonderful warm and welcoming people working there! I must especially mention Janis and his team at Brasserie where we had lunch every day - wonderful caring people. And also the main restaurant team - the food is excellent, deserts...mmmm! I gained some weight:)) Just a few things to mention: 1. the sea is very open (no bay) so any wind - expect high waves and red flag. There are also stones when you enter the sea so there were days when we could not swim at all. Swimming in the sea with kids is almost never possible because of the rough waters. But this has nothing to do with the hotel 2. Some people are (like everywhere) not that nice. One quite formal and not smiling at all lady at reception. One guy at a coffee house was rude once. But that incident was compensated (even too much) by the hotel as soon as we mentioned it 3. Main bar in the evening - the service was always very slow. To the point that snacks/fruits for the drinks arrived after we actually finished the drinks. One time would be “it happens” but 3 evenings in a row - that tells me a story. 4. Rooms are a bit outdated. It didn’t bother us and gives some atmosphere/vibe but broken lights, old bathroom tiles and creaking old wardrobe doors might be something to think about when planning further renovations But like I said - these are small things. Overall and mainly we had a wonderful, wonderful holiday in a great relaxing place. By the way, COVID measures are all quite strict and logical, personnel wears face masks all the time, guests are obliged to wear masks indoors, everything is very clean. I felt totally safe! Definitely considering to come back! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Disappointed, hotel is far past its best
Sep 17th, 2020
Stayed at the Creta Palace for 4 days in September 2020. Disappointed on multiple levels. 1. The pool is only open from 10am-6pm. Why? We like to do activities & sightseeing during the day, and come back for a swim in the evening. Why isn’t this possible? I have never stayed at a hotel with shorter pool opening hours 2. Completely insufficient number of sun loungers at the pool. And yet they still try to rent out “luxury” sun loungers for an extra fee. Totally selfish practice and really poor from a 5 star hotel 3. Food is very poor quality, overpriced, and they got our order wrong twice. If you’re going to charge €16 for a low quality pizza, at least give us the one we ordered 4. Cocktails are overpriced and tiny 5. Location, while next to a nice beach, is very far from anywhere else - you need to get a taxi or drive a car to go anywhere. Very few restaurants are within walking distance 6. The decor is very tired and dated. The cottage we stayed in felt like it was from the 90s Overall I won’t be staying here again - this hotel has much to improve if it wishes to remain a 5 star resort. We stayed in a much better quality hotel for a week beforehand - the Elia Agia Marina - which was 4 star but felt a lot more like a 5 star hotel than here. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

The resort is amazing, rooms are spacious , the beach is big and very clean , very good food, friendly staff. Everything is very well organised. The only thing i didn't like is the noise in the morning. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Fabulous hotel and services

What can I say. My room was 30 metres from the pool, a further 20 metres I was on the beach and another 15 metres was in the sea. An absolutely fantastic place to stay. The reception staff, the dining and bar staff are polite, courteous and helpful at all times. The place is spotlessly clean throughout. This hotel as everything for a perfect relaxing holiday. It is also a great place to explore Rethymnon from An hours walk or 8 euros in a taxi. Rethymnon is really good to go to eat out and very reasonable. I cannot recommend Creta Palace enough. I spent a week there with my wife and 14 year old daughter. Great things to do at a reasonable price were quad safari and jet skiing. 5 ☆☆☆☆☆ TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

We have just checked out from this hotel after faultless stay. The staff are wonderful. The food is excellent. The grounds are beautiful. We have stayed at 5 star hotels all over the world and this really is a class hotel but maintains a friendly and down to earth feel. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
