Enchanting property

May 31st, 2020

My wife and I stayed here to celebrate our anniversary and I could not have chosen a more peaceful or beautiful environment. We booked just a "normal" room, but due to the AC acting up, the staff was kind enough to give us a free upgrade to the "Lana Turner" suite, which was over twice the size and cool enough to satisfy my Arizona blood. We were very impressed by the swift courtesy, as well as the graciousness of the entire staff. The rooms and grounds are all meticulous and manicured, almost as if the Wild West manifested into a dream and then materialized into a resort. Also, the food....my god....the food from the onsite restaurant was fantastic. I am not tough to please as my favorite meal is usually a good hamburger, but this hamburger was SUBLIME. My wife had the ribs and empanada special, and I ate most of hers as well, LOL. This is the kind of place where you go for a few days and just don't want to leave the property grounds, nor do you need to.....the sheer beauty of it all never gets boring. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great Experience Once Again!

May 1st, 2020

We celebrated our Anniversary at Hacienda Del Sol and were treated exceptionally well by staff. They had placed a nice personal anniversary surprise in our room and even added a minor appliance that we needed for our stay. The property looked amazing and complemented the incredible view of the Catalina Mountains. The room service food brought to us from the kitchen was outstanding and we could tell staff was doing the its very best to make our stay as good as it could be given the difficult times COVID forced upon all of us. Thank you HDS for another wonderful stay and keep up the good work. We certainly appreciate you! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Anniversary in Tucson at Hacienda Del Sol

Mar 25th, 2020

Thank you so much for the wonderful personalized service on our recent Anniversary stay. We were in and out with just one overnight but were able to see the genuine care and authenticity of the team shine in the interactions that we had. Thank you for the welcome gifts, beautiful Catalina room with an unbelievable view of the Mountains to wake up to, a delicious dinner and most of all the friendly, caring team. We will be back again (for longer next time) to explore all the interesting art and enjoy the hospitality. Well done Hacienda Del Sol! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Glorious

Mar 16th, 2020

Spent an entire week here last spring. Everything about this place, from the rooms to the courtyard in full bloom, exceeds expectations. Service is impeccable; rooms are immaculate. This is a real getaway. I've been to the Hacienda before but during this visit, I intended to go riding every day. I pulled a little mustang from their corral and they let me keep him for my time there . . . I must have ridden him more than 30 miles over the course of my stay. The wrangler (Dave, who is a fine photographer, a nice guy, and full of interesting stories) took me on a few private rides, the last of which was at sunset. We rode back to the hotel in the dark, accompanied by the small family of coyotes who had been serenading my husband and I every evening. We stayed in one of the lower rooms so that I could be close to the corral. It felt a bit cramped after a couple of days, nor did it get much natural light. On the other hand, I spent so much time exploring the grounds (gorgeously landscaped) that it didn't really matter. Small inconveniences (trouble with the mini-fridge) were fixed within a day. The staff is attentive, courteous, and well aware that their guests are paying good money. They are also quick to act. Halfway through my visit, I encountered a boorish guest - an older Australian traveling with his wife - who just wouldn't leave me alone. Apparently the guy got roaring drunk every night, made a lot of noise, and annoyed anyone within earshot. The staff openly admitted he was troublesome and stopped him from going on trail rides while he was intoxicated. Had he caused any real problems, I am sure the staff would have ejected him quickly from the premises. My husband and I plan to return next spring, and to book the Casita Grande. I can't of think any place in the southwest I'd rather stay than Hacienda del Sol. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nice small resort with casual, neighborly vibe

Mar 11th, 2020

Strange to be reviewing Hacienda del Sol while the Coronavirus is restricting travel, but here goes ... My wife and I had a delightful five days here. It’s a small resort with nice amenities that isn’t cheap, but also not so expensive that it feels excessive. That is: an indulgent treat that’s priced just right (for us, at least). Our ground floor room had an outside patio, where we had our delivered-to-the-room breakfast each morning. The service, in this case, was occasionally confused, and once slow, but always friendly. We got to know our server Martin quite well. Our view to the Santa Catalina Mountains was wonderful, ever changing with the day’s rising and setting sun. The two onsite restaurants (one fancy, one casual) were solid; not inspiring, but plenty good. Nightly music (except Monday) in the casual Terraza was fun. Maybe best of all was the bar, where the nicely chatty tenders made creatively tasty drinks — many, as you’d suspect, of tequila and mezcal. My wife and I don’t usually spend much time at a hotel pool, but here, charmed especially by the view, we partook, and the experience was exceptionally relaxing. Back to our spacious room ... The bathroom’s two counter and sink areas gave us each our own clean-up space, and I couldn’t resist the outdoor shower’s view of the mountains. The resort’s history is interesting. The Southwest decor is inviting. Everyone is friendly. A good base for exploring the Tucson area. It’s not a Four Seasons or Peninsula kind of place — e.g., no personal butlers — but we liked the neighborly vibe. Lots of locals come just for the bar, grill, music, and sociability. Right up our alley; maybe yours too. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
