Heroin hell hole

Several rooms are being lived in by drug addicts. Staff was boozing on the job. If you don’t want your kids to find hypodermic needles stashed in your “cleaned” room or watch the cops narcan overdosing people back to life, I’d skip this place TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Loved the Nightlight
Nov 8th, 2020
Travelers might think it such a simple consideration for hotels to provide nightlights in guest rooms, since they're a necessity if you have to get up in the middle of the night in an unfamiliar room. But in more than 200 hotels we've patronized during the past fifteen years, less than ten percent have offered this important amenity. Kudos to Hampton Inn Bismarck for including nightlights. I'll bet it saves a small fortune in electricity too, since guests don't have to leave bathroom lights on all night. We arrived on a Thursday evening just before dark in mid-August. Hampton Inn's lobby pantry was stocked with frozen dinners, Ramen cups, etc, in case we needed a midnight snack. Nothing organic or non-GMO, so we wouldn't eat it, but we weren't hungry, having just filled up on Panera Bread. We were surprised to find out that the hotel's fitness center was open because most hotels we stayed at on this trip closed their gyms due to the fake pandemic. We were also surprised to learn that Hampton Bismarck was serving any breakfast because most hotels have opted to starve their guests this year as a COVID precaution. Check-in was smooth and we were comfy in our king non-smoking room, which was nicely furnished with an additional sofa bed, extra ottomans and a coffee table, a dresser/work station combo with a desk chair, full length mirror, and flat screen TV. Amenities included a microwave, mini-refridge, coffee maker, luggage rack, iron and board, and hair dryer. Lamps and outlets were plentiful, and the wi-fi was of acceptable quality. Business travelers will appreciate the laundry service. The bathroom tile was rather antiquated looking, and the sofa and carpet looked like they could use replacing, but otherwise I think the ambiance was supposed to be modern op art. Our bathroom had lots of thick towels, and toiletries were Neutrogena shampoo, conditioner, lotion, bar soap, and a makeup towelette. The shower/tub was full size, which I always appreciate for taking a hot bath after a long day of traveling. Sleep was pleasant except for the pillows. Hilton brand pillows give me a neckache because they're too soft, so I travel with my own neck pillow. The combination of both pillows enables comfortable sleep. All in all this was a good stay. I stayed here for a couple of days while in the area and had Room 301 on the third floor with a king size bed. The room was clean, comfortable, spacious, and appeared to have been updated recently. Pros and Cons: Pros - I appreciated the couch and little TV tray - perfect for eating my breakfast and dinner while watching TV; The bed was comfortable and room was laid out nicely; nice counter space in bathroom for a lady; workout facility above average; spacious breakfast area and cleaning person wiping down tables - a rarity nowadays; two fast elevators; a "no pet" hotel which I appreciate because I have pet hair allergies; great location close to I-94 in safe area with many restaurants and stores nearby yet far enough away from traffic noise. Cons - bed was comfy but pillows were a little bulky - a variety of soft and firm pillows would have been nice; doors to each individual hotel room were noisy on closing so spacing guests out would be better; toilet seat was a little loose in my room; A/C unit was a bit on the loud side with constant fan running, but it was not the worst I've encountered so it didn't affect my sleep. Great Customer Service!

I stayed at this hotel for one night during my midwest road trip. I was assigned room 307. My rate with taxes for the night was $100.32. Service - The front desk agent who assisted me during check-in and the front desk agent who assisted me during check-out were both great! Friendly, personable, helpful, engaging, and knowledgeable! Both were wearing masks covering their nose and mouth. Room - Room was a decent size and clean. Super comfortable bed. Shower had a shower curtain. Water temperature was excellent, but the shower head was stationery and did not have good water pressure. I cannot remember the last time I stayed at a hotel that did not have an adjustable shower head! Nice amount of counter space for your toiletries. Great working AC. Microwave. Mini-refrigerator. Fast wi-fi. Conveniently placed electrical outlets. Super comfortable desk chair. Hotel Information - Hotel has 88 rooms and three floors. The lobby was clean and bright. Convenient free parking lot. Breakfast was grab and go, but not in a brown paper bag. All of the food was placed on the breakfast counter and guests could just take what they wanted (bananas, granola bars, bottles of orange juice, bottles of apple juice, etc.) Location - Pretty central location. It is about 3 miles or 8 minutes to downtown Bismarck. There are many chain restaurants in the immediate vicinity of the hotel......Wendy's, Little Caesars, Taco Bell, Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Buffalo Wild Wings, Ruby Tuesday, etc. I recommend this property and I would consider staying here again if my travels ever bring me back to the area!
