Nice view, dreadful bed

We got a room with a bay view and balcony. Beautiful view! The room was also very clean. That said, it was the worst night of sleep I've ever gotten. The bed was like sleeping on the floor. I woke up in so much pain. I've stayed at hundreds of Hampton Inns and always slept well. No idea if these are new covid mattresses and easier to clean or what but it was awful. I'll include pics of the pretty view, which I stared at exhausted from being up all night. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Don’t stay here with service animals!

This is my 2nd time staying at this hotel. I give 2 stars because it is clean and the beds are not the worst. We stayed in Dec and it was good for our overnight stop on our cross country road trip. Both stays in Dec 2020 & January 2021 we had our 2 service dogs. My daughter & I each have one trained for different purposes. I have been staying at LaQuinta for years (because it’s usually a nice, clean & dog friendly hotel) and Never have I Ever been asked to provide proof of my dogs service training! This LaQuinta in Daphne, AL not only asked but REQUIRES with no exception that Proof be provided upon check-in. There is NO law that requires me to register my dogs as service animals nor is there any ADA federal database which you register your animal with that gives out such documentation. (I actually wish there was But that’s a whole other topic). Well we had to pay $44 extra for our dogs to stay with us in January because I didn’t have Dr’s notes or documents stating they are service dogs!! Seriously!! We didn’t get asked for this proof a few weeks before at this property and didn’t get charged this fee either. What the heck! We’ve been staying in LaQuinta Wyndham properties for the last 3weeks in various states and have not been asked for documentation or charged this fee. I asked if this was a new Wyndham Policy and was told “no, it was this property’s policy”. So now each property gets to make its own policy’s?? Don’t go here expecting Wyndham Policy’s to all be the same at all they’re properties. Never in the 4 years since I had to get my service dog have I had these issues! Never will we use this hotel as a stop on our road trips. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Seen Better Days

We stay here at least 4-6 times per year for the last 6 years. We have seen this location slowly deteriorate over that time. Used to have Happy Hour in the lobby...that stopped a few years ago. Used to be clean and fresh. I’ve machine on 6th floor has been out for at least a month; last time we came through in November it was out and still out. Carpet looks like it hasn’t been vacuumed and the room did not smell clean. One of two elevators was out and it was a heck of a time navigating between the floors. On a positive note, the location and the view is excellent. The front desk people are warm and friendly, as well as the breakfast staff. However, if this place did not get it’s a together, they are going to lose a frequent guest. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Hotel needs attention

The staff and location are excellent. The hotel however appears run down ( especially carpet 😳), my balcony had old webs, wasp nests, just looked uncared for. The elevators ran but not smoothly and the carpet inside has seen better days. The rooms are basic, outdated but clean. The staff was wonderful and ideal location and considering this- why this hotel has not been upgraded is a mystery to me. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Bade perience

Not a good experience. I reserved a room in advance of a 10 hour drive and was completely disappointed when I arrived. The woman at the front desk was not welcoming and had her mask barely covering her mouth and not at all her nose. There was a sign right in front that stated masks were to be worn and multiple walked in not wearing a mask without any employee saying anything. There was a pile of dirty towels laying on the ground by the front desk. One elevator was not working the other was incredibly slow. The carpets throughout were old and dirty. We got to the door of the room and the “safety” seal was already ripped in half. There were cobwebs inside by the patio door and it DID NOT feel clean. I tried calling the front desk multiple times with no answer. I went back to the desk and checked out. In a time when cleanliness is so important I found this unacceptable. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
