Average rooms

Located in the small town of Hanover, New Hampshire (about 125 miles northwest of Boston and 150 miles west of Portland, Maine), this historical boutique hotel which is the longest continually operating inn in the state gives guests prime access to Dartmouth College. But if you tire of exploring the campus or downtown Hanover's specialty shops and are looking for more activities outdoors, you can rent a canoe or kayak at the nearby Ledyard Canoe Club or hike part of the Appalachian Trail. Once you're ready to head back to the inn, relax by the lobby's fireplace or grab a bite at PINE restaurant, which specializes in American farm-to-table cuisine. According to previous visitors, the buffalo cauliflower and ahi tuna appetizers and the Hanover burger and diver scallops entrees are exceptionally tasty. After you satiate your appetite, enjoy a little rest and relaxation in your contemporary New England-style digs, which feature wooden furniture, marble bathroom counters and a neutral color palette with pops of gold and dark green. The original building was converted into a tavern in 1780, and this expertly run inn, now greatly enlarged, has been operating ever since.
