Very Lovely experience

Jun 21st, 2019

My husband and I stayed here for 3 very lovely days after heavily researching all other hotels and bed and breakfasts. We know now we made the right choice. The renovation is beautiful and the staff is so kind and helpful. We stayed in the Captain Bradley cottage and our room had a very spacious balcony over looking the pool area and we could almost see the water through the tree in front. The room felt large and had a walk in closet. The bathroom a little tight, but renovated nicely. Plush towels, nice robes and great toiletries provided. We didn’t have neighbors until our last night and unfortunately with the historic nature of the housing, could hear them laughing and talking until close to midnight. We used the bikes available on more than one occasion, and loved the Mercedes drive program. We also ate breakfast at the hotel everyday and it was really good. They have spa water in the hotel lobby daily and give you water bottles in your room to fill up. The view from the porch is stunning and is far enough away from the heart of town that it’s tranquil— yet an easy walk or quick bike ride to get to most restaurants and shops. Only reasons I’m not giving them 5 stars are this: -the hotel is still under some serious construction (not the main hotel, but the pool bar and right section of the hotel). Hammering and sawing woke us up every day at 7am.... and continued throughput the day— including the one day we had nice weather and decided to sit by the pool. Not sure if the noise experience would be the same in the main hotel building, but from our cottage it was quite loud. -we wanted to take one of the cars out (the only one remaining at that time) and the receptionist told us that the owners daughter needed it so we wouldn’t be able to use it. -the pool is salt water— but isn’t heated... or at least not turned up warm enough. We were cold being in there on a 70 degree day. That being said— we will return to the vineyard and we will likely book the harbor view hotel again! It feels like they’re still perfecting the details as they get the hotel fully open. We think we stayed at the best hotel and felt a lot of value in the price with all the extra amenities. Mr. And Mrs.

Jun 16th, 2019

We stayed in the hotel for two days in a suite with panaromic view of the harbor and light house that costed us $750 per night . The view was no question spectacular. We were celebrating our Anniversary and we told them way in advance several times . There was not even an acknowledgement in the room or mention by anybody at the front desk . The service at the bar and restaurant were mediocre to poor . Food was good. The air conditioning was not working and they could not fix it for both days . The atmosphere was very pretentious and apparently we did not fit into that pattern . The doorman would not even open the door for us as he would for everybody else . The only bright spot was Darlene at the concierge who recognized our discomfort after we cancelled the dinner at the restaurant and sent us chocolate covered strawberries and wishes. She was also nice when we went to her for help . Except her , everybody else seemed cold and not helpful . We stayed in many expensive hotels around the world and never felt out of place as in this one . For such an expensive hotel , we expected the staff to be trained to cater to a diverse clientele, and that is not what we saw by any means in harbor view hotel . We wish we had better service for the money and would not recommend this hotel to anybody celebrating a special Occasion as it only comes once . TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Elegant hotel in great location

Jun 15th, 2019

I stayed at the Harbor View Hotel, in room 223, on the nights of 5 & 6 June. You can smell the newness of the hotel as you check in and, as you would expect with a newly renovated hotel, all of the interiors were in perfect shape. I had a lovely room, with a view over the pool, 2 armchairs and a sofa in an expansive seating area. The bathroom was very nice, a good shower and lovely Molton Brown tolietries. Staff were great, remembering names and helping people find their way round the hotel and the new eating areas. I had breakfast twice in the hotel and that was good and well priced, if a little slow to be served. In the evenings I ate off the small plate menu in the bar and had delicious small lobster rolls and great lamb chops. It was a very slow 10 minute walk into the centre of Edgartown, past beautiful mansions and again a very gentle 10 mins to the lighthouse. All in all I thought the Harbor View was a great place to spend a couple of days. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

No Acknowledgement of Daughter’s Wedding Night

Jun 5th, 2019

The Harbor View has new owners and management and what a disappointment. My daughter and her new husband spent their wedding night there. My husband dropped their bag off in the morning telling the hotel staff it was their wedding night. And then when they checked in my daughter still wearing her long white wedding dress there was no acknowledge or congratulations by the staff. This is the least they could do!! Many of the top hotels we stay at will leave a congrats gift in their room but a simple verbal congrats would have been appropriate and enough. And to top it off their room was in the main building but over looked the roof-not a special first night! In addition if you are expecting the white crisp New England decor of old, you are in for a surprise. The new decor darkens the restaurants and red leather for seating would not have been top of list. Oh well... TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great New Foodie Offering On The Island!!

May 20th, 2019

I was excited to try Roxana at the newly renovated Harbor View Hotel and was not disappointed. I really liked the new Chef’s take on tapas and was impressed by his use of interesting international flavors and the obvious care that had gone into sourcing as many ingredients as possible from local farms and purveyors, including a stellar Island cheese plate. There were four of us so we got A LOT of food and everything was delicious but the ultimate stand outs for me were the MV Lobster Fried Rice with Scallions, the Green Papaya Salad with Peanuts and Green Curry Dressing, the Uni Toasts and the Confit Salmon Belly Toasts with Tomato-Lemon Jam. Service was friendly and attentive and will be top-notch once a few opening week kinks are cleared up. I will definitely be going back and can’t wait to try the other restaurant as well! It is nice that there is a new and inviting MV foodie destination! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
