Not 5 star

Oct 13th, 2020

Stayed here 3 nights with a luxury escape deal , location is 5 star and the Tayim restaurant for dinner was outstanding food but the rest is really lacking , we upgraded to a suite it really was just a little extra space & a sofa bed ! The bathroom was 1 Star ... the amenities were poor but the worst thing is don’t expect to get any sleep , at the end of the street ( just across the road from the hotel) is the rocks argyle centre omg it is a night time venue it pumped out ‘doof doof’ music so loud you are unable to sleep , it didn’t stop till 2am .... the double glazing did not stop the noise , as well as having a massive grate in the road outside our room that every car & truck ran over (room #207) !!! We asked to be moved but reception said the other side of the hotel had a busy road noise as well ..... unfortunately lastly : the breakfast included at their hotel ,crepe suzette cafe ,was very disappointing crepe & galettes only , yuk tasted awful ☹️ we stayed 3 nights & wont ever stay there again !!! A very nice heritage hotel. The night manager Moss went above and beyond to deliver exemplary customer service which truly made the stay enjoyable. Wouldn’t have been the same without him. Thank you moss! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

conveniently placed and comfortable stay

Oct 4th, 2020

this hotel has the feel of a small hotel. Situated right in the middle of the Rocks in Sydney, it is in a prefect position for visiting the city and the Sydney harbour. Not far from public transport and handy to most of what the city has to offer. Our room had a view to the opera house and was clean, comfortable and well maintained. the hotel does not have a lift so you need to go up and down stairs to reach your room which is rather unusual. However there is a luggage lift if needed. Staff is very friendly, welcoming and helpful. we had a very pleasant stay! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nicely Restored - Great Atmosphere

Sep 12th, 2020

First impression was great as we walked across the slab timber boards into a nicely restored piece of history. The library / sitting area was calm and inviting and the check-in was smooth with super helpful staff. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable, there were a couple of 'oddly out of place' pieces of furniture (given the age of the building) ... but the room had everything we needed. There is no lift, but it is only 3 floors and there is a dumb waiter for luggage. The view was largely made up of other nearby historic buildings, but we did have a small peek of the Opera House. The terrace area was closed for upgrade, but we were able to take a look and will definitely return when the construction is complete. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
