Well, at least the Restaurants Were Good

Nov 18th, 2019

I’m told Hard Rock is soon to close down for 8 months to complete a multi-million dollar renovation. It’s definitely time that happened. We always stay right on the strip but wanted a little less busyness this trip to Vegas so we tried Hard Rock for the first time which is a couple blocks off the strip. We checked in on a Thursday and checked out five days later on Tuesday. The check-in process wasn’t bad for Vegas, probably 12 people in front of us taking about 5 minutes or more for each person. We were given a non-smoking room on a non-smoking floor (remember this for later). The first thing we noticed walking through the casino to the elevators was the place was almost empty. There were very few people gambling and one entire side of the casino tables were closed. This did not change during the five days we were there regardless of the time, day or night, when we walked through, creating a low-energy, boring feel. The only crowds of people we saw were there for concerts and a Halloween ball. Once in our room at the very back of the property, the first thing noticed was how dark it was due to everything being black...the furniture, the carpet, the bathroom the granite/sinks. This coupled with very dim lights made it difficult to see when trying to get ready, put makeup on, etc. After unpacking our bags we decided to grab some lunch at Pink Taco, a restaurant on the property. This was probably the highlight of our Hard Rock stay since the food, service and value were all great. We ended up eating here again a couple days later and again had a great experience. We then headed out for the evening and did not return until 11:00 PM. Upon entering our room, all we could smell was the smell of someone smoking marijuana. We soon learned our neighbors in the next room were having a pre-night out party. I called and spoke with guest services requesting to move to a different room and was transferred to the front desk where the phone rang for 45 minutes with no answer before I finally gave up and made the long walk downstairs to the front desk. Arriving at the front desk I noticed there were only three desk agents and 17 people in line waiting to check in. Realizing this would be another 45 minute wait, I aborted and went back to my room. By the time I got back, the neighbors next-door had left for their evening of partying. The next morning we had to leave before 7:00 AM for an engagement and did not return until later that evening so we had no opportunity to speak with management about changing rooms before our dinner reservations at MB Steak there on the property. MB Steak was a good experience so we were in a great mood until we returned to our room later that evening only to find our neighbors next-door once again smoking pot and partying. They soon left but then the entire floor including our room started smelling like cigarette smoke. We were on a non-smoking floor but evidently some of the people in other rooms did not adhere to that rule forcing everyone else on the floor to deal with their cigarette smoke. The smoke smell was not only coming in the room under the door but also coming in through the vent in the bathroom. We had to put a bath towel on the floor by the entry door and keep the bathroom door closed with the fan running in order to help dissipate the smell of smoke. I called and spoke with someone at the front desk and they assured me that should housekeeping determine that anyone on the non-smoking floor was smoking, they would be charged a $149 cleaning fee. This did me absolutely no good because the next three nights the cigarette smoking on my floor continued. The same person informed me that marijuana was not allowed on the property and that security would address it if they knew about it. Again, did me no good. The following day we left early again for the day only to return that night to find our room exactly the way we left it that morning—unmade bed and dirty towels on the floor. Housekeeping missed cleaning our room that day. A call to the front desk got us clean towels delivered to our room and the removal of the almost $40 daily resort fee for that day but only confirmed our feelings up to this point that we made a HUGE mistake staying here in the first place. Our final night we stayed in and ate at Craft+Community Bar and Grill on the property. There was only one other couple eating in the restaurant and 2 or 3 people at the bar at 8:00PM which initially concerned us that maybe it was not going to be good. Luckily, we were wrong and it was a great meal. Hard Rock Hotel and the way they handled my concerns were a major disappointment...but at least the restaurants were good. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

kept taking things away

Nov 18th, 2019

We checked in at about 6:30 on Saturday evening. Asked what time the pools were open to. We were told that two of the four pools were closed for renovations. Okay ... still two nice ones to use, and we would be fine. Asked when they close, hoping it might be 11PM or midnight instead of the standard 10PM. We were told they closed at 6PM. What??? Bummer. Still, we are flexible. Asked if the hot tubs were still open. Nope. NONE were open after 6PM. Ouch. A hotel with no hot tubs at night? NOt happy. But, we changed our plans right there on the spot and decided we would swim and hit the hot tubs in the morning and make the best of it. Didn't even complain. What time do they open in the morning? 9AM. Great, we'll go for an hour and at least get some nice pool time in. Got up the next morning. Went to the pool at 8:55AM. Asked which two were open. Only ONE was open now, not two. Wow, the amenities are continuing to shrink with every asking. Okay, where is the hot tub. None open. Okay, maybe one is open in 5 minutes though, thinking it was a little early? Nope. No hot tubs open today. Just one pool. It gets worse. We walked through the area looking at the gorgeous beach pool and pool with a slide and all the cool things. Then, we walked up some stairs and saw the one pool open. WHAT A JOKE!!!!! The one and only pool open was about the same size as my pool at my HOUSE. Picture attached. Notice it is about two body lengths wide. A small narrow pool. Nothing attractive about it at all. There was one lifeguard standing there, looking bored. ANother couple came at the same time, and they too were hugely disappointed. The pool is just a small little rectangle of a thing, and not nice like the four big ones. A JOKE!! We asked the lifeguard why that was the only pool open. She didn't know. We asked why there was not at least ONE hot tub open. She didn't know. Then she said that there WAS a hot tub in the spa area. We walked off to find that. Got to the spa,and they said yes there was a hot tub there, but it was $27 per person to use it. Really?? After spending $204 to get my room, you want me to pay an additional $81 for the three of us to use the hot tub for an hour? We shall never be back. Just a terrible terrible experience, going from four pools to two pools to one pool to a pool that was nothing like any of the four they use in their advertising to show a wonderful experience. What a bait and switch it was to us! And nol one seemed to CARE. Someone should mention on the advertising that you have this little "outdoor bath tub" of a pool open, but everything else is closed at this time of year. few weeks ago we stayed down the road, at a timeshare. Had NUMEROUS hot tubs AND some pools open. Nothing as nice as the ones at Hard Rock ... but those were not open anyway!! What a disappointment this was. We shall NOT be back. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great price but housekeeping not up to par

Nov 18th, 2019

Great hotel located in a quiet area of Vegas. Price was unbelievable for a suite of that size! Unfortunately the housekeeping was quite poor. Room is dusty from the minute we came in, room smelled of marijuana despite being on a non smoking floor and the housekeeping missed cleaning the room 1 day. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A little disappointed overall....

Nov 15th, 2019

We stayed for three nights (Tue - Fri), room was of a good standard but the bathroom was a little dated and needed upgrading. We were disappointed all the pools were closed - except one. This was the small pool which was a distance from the building. A number of the restaurant's were also closed. The hotel is in a good location away from the main strip. Although the hotel wasnt full (not busy) they still charged us $10 plus taxes per hour to keep hold of our room for a late check out. They had a restriction to 4pm however. Annoyed they failed to extend the wifi for our extra few hours stay. It felt like the hotel and staff were on a wind down for its refit. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Excellent

The HRH tower is fantastic. A shame it is going to close soon. Great people great accommodations. Food was excellent and payout was great as well. Unfortunately most of the pools were closed and not many people there. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
