Great Stay Wonderful Staff

Feb 9th, 2020

I stay over 140 nights a year at Bonvoy properties....the staff at The Hartford Marriott are top notch. They know your name and cater to your needs based on your past stays. It’s top notch service that is becoming more and more rare in the hotel world. Everyone from Alan in the front office to Joe behind the desk was exceptional and friendly. They also made my kids feel welcomed and excited to be at a hotel. Looking forward to my next stay. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

The dining experience in Vivo! Kay is the best! She knows how to treat guest! She is professional and she delivers on her job! She is one of the reasons I am now a Hartford Marriott fan! Give her raise! I was here a month ago and she remembered my face and my beverage of choice. She is attentive and very good at her job! Trust me you are in for a teat!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Wonderful time!

Feb 3rd, 2020

Sound proofing in space treatment rooms Spa Experience: Not relaxing to hear emergency sirens from traffic 22 floors below and general noise from the pool and fitness center next door. The sounds from Kids loudly coming and going from pool area easily traveled into the spa waiting rooms. Only changing room for the spa is the same for pool and fitness center. Water everywhere , floor, toilet seats- even the most attentive associates could never keep up with it. You would need a bathroom attendant in there all the time doing nothing but cleaning up after people and it’s is very small space - two stalls , one sink and a 4’ Long Beach with lockers- for a 400+ room hotel? The spa employees were wonderful! Highly recommend Lisa for message. The spa was Warm, welcoming and therapist was professional. Hotel WiFi is really lacking- I finally just shut it off as nothing worked / loaded when connected. Called AYS from the room around 9pm and it rang 25 times with no answer ...Had to call the main hotel # from my cell phone to reach someone. However once I did reach someone an extra blanket was delivered within 5 minutes . Very prompt and the agent was apologetic when I explained that no one answered AYS. Food was really good and very large portions . The flatbread was basically an entire pizza and done well! It was crispy where it was supposed to be but not burnt! But ays could not say what what type of bread the turkey sandwich was made with or if we could choose the type of bread. As we were placing the order we eventually just agreed with the person taking the order that it would be good no matter what type of bread it came with. And it was- my guest loved it and it was very large so saved half for the next day. also loved the fries and the house made chips! I liked the option of being able to pick it up in the lounge downstairs instead of having it delivered to the room. Really lovely hotel but starting to show its age. Getting outdated in terms of furniture and colors in the rooms. One thing we loved was how quiet it was up on the floors. Perhaps we got lucky but we never heard our neighbors, other room doors shutting or any of the casual sounds you do in most hotels. We were also right next to the elevators and very little sound carried through the walls. There was a small water leak around the handle to the shower faucet that left a little puddle on the walk in floor but I bet it just hasn’t been reported or perhaps PM hasn’t been in there in a while. The view was lovely of CT river and beyond and decent curtains blacked out the city and sunrise - greatly appreciated. A walk outside reveals some green mold / mildew on the building and one large light fixture, outside near the restaurant entrance, had the bottom piece of glass broken and taped back together which is a sign of longer term problem. One of the large potted bushes is leaning way over the sidewalk and looks close to toppling over- could hurt someone if it falls. Also employees came outside to smoke with guests which I thought was unusual. One even engaged in conversation about how it had been 5 hours and she was so busy that she was just then getting her first break of the day. Person to person I get it but you should not be talking to a guest about these things. Big tip on parking - the lot is shared with the convention center. Be prepared to walk quite a distance from where you park your car to the hotel entrance or drop your stuff off with bell first or valet the car. Not a huge deal for me but my guest was handicapped / elderly and we ended up having to exit the parking area (after driving around and around) so I could drop her and our luggage off at main entrance to go back in and find a parking spot. If I was GM - would consider just how much space your valet section is in ratio / comparison to the handicapped parking to the right of entrance. Yes- want valet to be able to access your car quickly, however, I only saw 6-8 handicapped parking places (all occupied) versus - guessing here- 75 valet spaces of which 60 were empty. Not just at that moment either- the next morning same amount of valet spaces were empty. And this is your premium area on first floor. Perhaps all of first floor should be reserved for hotel guests only? Or maybe the block of spaces on each floor closest to elevator? With the RV show going on the same day I did not feel that parking was easy at all for hotel guests. The parking attendant helped but he could only do so much with the 100’s of cars coming and going due to event in convention center. I was also irked that someone parked taking up two handicap spaces and had no placard. Not the hotels fault. Restaurant was very nice for breakfast and good atmosphere. We ordered off the menu and had prompt and courteous service. All the staff was very nice that I approached! I don’t remember all names but the girl at check in was extra personable and helpful - she was again super pleasant when we checked out the next morning too. The bartender was very helpful and one of the servers in the restaurant took the time to introduce herself. However, in general, most employees I passed did not smile or greet me unless I said something first. I also noticed at times 4-5 employees gathered at the front desk talking and laughing among themselves and basically ignoring any guests sitting in the lobby or walking through. Pretty sure I passed a couple of managers too and despite me smiling at them I did not receive a smile in return and they just walked by me. Felt Kinda cold. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Gorgeous hotel

Jan 23rd, 2020

My now wife and I came here after our wedding and felt so welcomed. Every single member of the staff is incredibly attentive and it’s a beautiful space. The pool and jacuzzi on the 22nd floor alone are worth it. I HIGHLY recommend this hotel and Sarah the bartender specifically at the bar in the lobby. When she found out we were newly married, she got us Munson chocolates and a bottle of champagne. Such a great, unexpected personal touch! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
